Anyway, this is my favorite FAVORITE running organization out there. Membership is super cheap (30 bucks a year), and you get SO many perks -- discounts on races, a kick-ass newsletter, and camaraderie from fellow runners! Their website is pretty sweet, and their calendar of races is enough to make any running fanatic drool. SLTC also hosts a number of running series (Pace Series, Frostbite Series, Road Race series) where for a low price (usually 20-25 bucks) you get to run in 5-7 races (1 per week) and you also get a nice t-shirt! I can't say enough good things about this group. If you're a runner (beginner or amateur, young or old) you NEED to check out SLTC!

The first week, we didn't even play a game because the other team didn't show up. This was a problem for many teams the first week because the schedule had changed 4 times before the first date. I had reached out via email and phone to find a schedule during the week it was supposed to start and no one got back to me. That put the playoffs two weeks into August when most of us were working and could not attend the last two weeks. The games themselves were fun and fair, but the lack of communication and organization made it a lot more stressful.

There sand leagues are great. I have done the leagues located at silver creek in Belleville. Stratman sports is very organized and really host such great leagues for volleyball junkies like me. They also have tournaments that have not only improved my game but has been fun to play with such great players from all over. I just started getting my oldest son ( age ten) involved with there youth programs and I really look forward to him excelling in this sport. They provide such talented people to help with there youth programs. Tony is also so helpful and has always been so informative and kind when I've asked volleyball questions and advice! So that's a double plus.

Since then, I've been up there at least once a week for volleyball and we generally wind up there on Saturday nights as well. The staff is awesome, they're all very friendly and they they treat their regulars very well. Yes, they have a dress code which is generally aimed at keeping gang members out, it's not a high end dress code - no athletic shorts at night and no plain white tees, sleeveless shirts, or hoodies... that type of thing. The code gets enforced for regulars and first timers alike. I saw a Yelp review where the reviewer stated he thought he was singled out on dress code enforcement for being asian. I highly doubt that is the case, if there is one bar in St. Louis that is accepting of everyone, it's Bar 101. The food is excellent considering it's a typical bar food menu. The french fries are breaded and my very well be the best fries in St. Louis. They have unique items like frog legs and alligator, and they have $.29 shrimp and wings which always hit the spot. If you're looking for a healthier option, I get the grilled chicken salad a lot, which never disappoints. And the dynamite sticks are amazing. Bar 101 easily has the best sand volleyball courts in St. Louis. Volleyball up there is a blast and league night has pretty much become my favorite day of the week.

Let me start by saying it is a little difficult to find. You pull in the parking lot and drive around to the back. After driving around back you can't help but stare at this beautiful grand entrance. Upon arriving we were greeted by the owner who was so overjoyed to see the kids ready to train. Wearing masks it was hard to see everyone's faces but everyone was in shock. The inside is so inviting and so well thought out. Every little detail had been thought through. From the turf having no rubber infill, to the gigantic fans over each playing field, to the benches set up in front of the projector. Each bench has a countries logo that has won the World Cup with the dates on the back. They do have snacks and drinks at the front counter. Soccer games play on the huge projector for parents to hang out and watch. It does appear they plan on hosting camps tournaments and leagues. This place looks amazing and it's something the city has needed. I can't wait to watch this place grow!

Inexperienced umps. Poorly defined rules that change game to game. Fields that flood on a regular…read morebasis. Inconvenient parking. Overpriced concessions. Don't sign your kid up to play here. Fields are unplayable most of the time. Even the slightest rain cancels games. And when that happens you'll actually be happy because you don't have to deal with the dearth of parking, walking miles to your field, 3/4 full beers from concessions and getting talked down to by untrained umpires who don't know what they are doing. Not worth it.

Amateur boxing,…read moreGolden Gloves qualifying, Kids and coaches working towards a goal and putting on a great show. Even if you're not a fan of pugilism, you'd enjoy this show. This isn't brutal, its not wrestling at the chase, it is quality boxing by kids who are amateurs, but certainly have skill. SBAC seat quite a few, has a full bar and serves up some damn good burgers and dogs. It seams that almost every seat is ringside. Great outing for something different.
