1 Star - Absolutely the Worst Haircut Experience I've Ever Had…read more I had a 10:30 AM appointment today at Mankind Barbershop in Fort Lauderdale with a stylist named Dax. I came in asking for a skin fade with short hair up to the part line and a hard part shaved in. Not only did I not get what I asked for--I didn't get anything at all. Dax seemed unsure how to operate his tools, struggled to turn on the clippers, and couldn't figure out how to attach the clipper guards. He was visibly fidgety and unprofessional. I wasn't even facing a mirror during the cut, so I couldn't see what was happening--but it felt like I was being jabbed and scraped more than anything. By the time I left, my ears were sore and bruised, and no hair had actually been cut. There was no hair on my smock, the floor, or anywhere around the chair. To make things worse, he started 25 minutes late without explanation. The receptionist didn't say a word about the delay and spent the entire time on her phone having a personal conversation. When I left and explained that no hair had been cut and nothing I asked for was done, I was met with blank stares. I even pointed to someone getting the exact kind of skin fade I had requested to Dax, and Dax said he didn't know what that was. Also worth noting--the stylist had overwhelming body odor, which added to how uncomfortable this whole ordeal was. I've been a loyal Mankind customer in the past, but my usual barber no longer works there. I decided to give it another shot and I completely regret it. This wasn't just a bad haircut--this was a complete failure of service. For $56, I was essentially tortured with clippers for an hour and walked out unchanged, except in discomfort. This was not a professional experience, and based on today, I can't recommend Mankind Barbershop to anyone.

Natalya is my main barber but I've also had my hair cut by Michael and his other staff. They are all professional and work hard to give you the exact haircut you want. Customer satisfaction is very important here. They remember names and details of their regular customers and welcome walk-ins as well. I've only heard positive comments from other customers while there. The shop is clean and comfortable and reasonably priced. I also love that they will shave your neck and massage it with a hot towel for no extra charge at the end of your haircut. Highly recommend here.
