Lamb shank, jollof rice, plantains, veggie curry
    Carlos S.

We met friends whom we introduced to Afra Grill. We ordered a number of dishes all of which were delicious. I got the lamb shank with the jollof rice, and pickled onions, plantains, veggie curry. You pick your carbs, protein and side dishes. They assemble it for you (think Chipotle). Lots of options to choose from for great combos. Service was helpful and the ambiance is simple and very clean. There's parking everywhere around Easton. Highly recommend.

Chicken afra with veggies were the best part

I haven't had this type of food before and overall I thought it was pretty good. Rice. Chicken. Veggies. Get all the add ons. All the added veggies were better than the chicken afra. The person scooping the food wasn't bad but not too helpful for a first timer. Once you're experienced, it's probably fine, but I had a few questions that she didn't really answer when asking about the food.

Good service and tasty food! So glad I stopped in and will definitely return. The employee at the register was so kind and walked me through the menu and options. This really stood out as excellent service as it can be a bit intimidating when you are not familiar with the food and options. The inside is bright, clean, warm, and inviting! I had some issues checking out with their POS system. The card slider and chip reader wouldn't work after many resets and attempts but was able to do the PayPal option. It was a good experience with some delicious food. There was so much flavor and one of the rice choices had some HEAT! Definitely worth checking out!

I don't know what happened to this place. I hadn't ordered in months, but I didn't expect such a drastic decline. When I got my takeout, I immediately noticed three big changes: the packaging was different, the portions were smaller, and--most importantly--the food was completely burned. I've had this dish at least five times before, and this was nothing like what I remembered. What's even worse is that someone saw the food in this condition and still decided to send it out. That's unacceptable! Very disappointing, and because of this, I won't be back. If the owners are reading this, I urge you to make some serious changes. Proceed with caution if you're thinking of ordering.

I've passed this place at Easton a few times and finally decided to stop in. It was a little busy, but the wait wasn't too bad. The inside was decorated well but there were lots of plants that made it hard to navigate if you were planning to eat there. I was a little confused by the ordering at first, but it's similar to Chipotle! I ordered the rice with jerk chicken, vegetables, corn, plantains, and a spicy sauce. My dad ordered a similar plate but with goat. And we both ordered the mango juice. The food was very good and had the perfect amount of spice! I preferred the jerk chicken to the goat, as it was a little tough, but everything had amazing seasoning. My favorite part of the whole dish was the plantains and the vegetables. Both were cooked perfectly and had so much flavor! The mango juice was also AMAZING!!! The prices were a little high, but everything was very good. I would definitely stop by again when I'm in the area to try more of their menu items!

The food here is unlike most restaurants. It seems to all be cooked here. It taste really homemade. There's a lot of great options for all dietary needs. They have veggie, chicken, steak, fish, and best of all, it's Hallal. This food has seasoning. A lot of it, and this makes it stand out from a lot of the restaurants at Easton. I love the ambiance. You can tell they have a mission, a vision, and identity. They have a consistent color scheme and it's always clean. I used to come here all the time when I lived at Easton, and they always maintained a high standard of cleaning. The service is great, people are nice, and the amounts of food they give is a lot. Really worth the price. Don't skip out on the fried plantains. As a Salvadoran American, this is probably my favorite food menu item at Afra Grill.

Wow oh wow am I impressed!!! I haven't wanted to rush to Yelp to write a review in a very long time but let me tell you, one bite and I immediately knew. I ordered my food on Postmates so for it to be that good on delivery and with my person making a stop before me, you know it's the real deal. Let me preface that I do not know anything about Somalian cuisine but I love trying new foods and have heard great things. So when I saw it as an option to be delivered I knew I was immediately going to get that. If I'm being completely honest, I don't really know what I ordered for certain. I know that I did get the "somalian version of jerk chicken" not the real name but the descriptor name. I believe jollof rice pickled red onions plaintains some vegetable mix. Now that was just the dinner and sides, so massive portions. Then I ordered Mulawah and veggie sambas, and the most delicious tea I've ever had. Literally every single thing was delicious, and like I said, I had literally no idea what I was ordering. I would assume everything on the menu would be just as great. Definitely go here, I will be back. I have a feeling it's going to be my new go to weekend spot!

Beef Sambusa jam packed with fillings and piping hot fresh out the cooker!

We were in the mood for this genre of food so we decided to give them a try. Two entrees, two sambusas, two drinks $55. I feel like this is pricey but whatever. It's 2023, it's still a pandemic, and inflation is still high so all you can do is GRIN AND BEAR IT. If you don't feel like paying this much which is totally reasonable then go somewhere else and get a $5 Biggie Bag instead 1. Place is SUPER CLEAN LOOKING and decorated nicely. You can look straight through to an open kitchen and everything looked stellar 2. Everything was good. Spicy Rice was delicious. AFRA Chicken was good, plaintains we're good. Sambusas with beef were big meaty and overflowing with fillings fresh out the cooker 3. Complimentary sauces, the regular and spicy were good. 4. Wife didn't feel the oxtails were fall off the bone like most are at other places you go to. I warned her but she blows me off regularly and doesn't listen to most advice I give her anyways. I saw them and passed because oxtails are hit or Miss and if you aren't familiar with the spot and portion sizes then I don't recommend taking that risk because Oxtails are known to be high priced item with more bones and gristle than meat so you have to be careful when ordering them out. Your best bet is to find a good butcher and make your own oxtails at home because you know what your getting. I'm an oxtail proponent but I wasn't familiar with the spot so passed to get chicken instead because you can't screw up chicken in a sauce that bad. 5. The mango, pineapple, coconut juice was almost like a shake and delicious. 6. We'll be back to try their other proteins like goat, salmon, jerk chicken, lamb legs and chops, spicy stewed chicken, fufu etc 7. Great customer service with plenty of parking in a parking garage across the street. Some places around Easton for parking is like a fight in the HUNGER GAMES but this isn't the case here. 8. 4 stars for the gnarly, gristly, majority bones, non-fall of the bone, small ratio of meat to bone oxtails. This was the wife's dish and she was FOREWARNED but blew me off

Pilipili classic jerk chicken with sambusa, beans, pickled onion, corn salsa, plantain and jollof rice

The food was good, not the best African food I've tasted but it's good for the amount you pay for based on the taste and price. The service was great, pretty much self-service but the staff are really nice and helpful. They're very courteous too. I like the ambience for a quick lunch or dinner. Nothing too fancy but the place is clean, convenient, and pretty straightforward.

When I looked in kitchen and saw older black ladies cooking with those big Hansel &gretel pots I knew it was gonna be amazing Yummy yummy did not disappoint. Cool casual vibe, friendly service, and afro beats. A winning combo

We got an order to go to break our fast with. This time we got the lamb shank meal, Afra chicken,…read moremango lemonade, and chicken sambusa. Everything was packed really nicely and the portions are big. The lamb shank was fall off the bone and really well spiced. Everything we got was actually really nice in flavors. I got jollof rice with the meat and it was spicy but not overpowering. The plantains were really good and the salad was fresh. I love everything mango, so the mango lemonade was refreshing. My son enjoyed the chicken sambusa and my husband enjoyed the Afra chicken meal. I gave my son ketchup as a dip for the sambusa because although their sauces are very good, they are much too spicy for him. The Afra spicy sauce was good and my husband said it elevated his chicken meal. They also included crepes with our meal. I was not aware that they come with the meal or if they just gave us these as an extra. The crepes were huge though and delicious. They had the perfect amount of sweetness to them. We were late in picking up our meal, so appreciated the staff for holding it for us. The food was fairly warm even after the delay. We will definitely be back.

So many tempting choices offered, it's tough to decide. The minute you walk in the door, the smell of all the wonderful, tempting options will let you know you're getting the "real deal." You can create your own bowl, choosing the protein (chicken, goat, fish...) and the toppings and sauces to your taste. Speaking of taste, the woman at the counter very helpfully gave me a taste sample of several different options. Both the regular and spicy chicken were super flavorful, and I've tried Somali goat meat before (very flavorful!) but trying to keep it light(er) since I had a plane to catch in a few hours, I got a veg. bowl, with a sampling of both types of rice and (woops!!) and spaghetti add on (carb-o-licious!!). Should have added on the salad, that might have made a bit more sense! Anywhooooooo, my bowl was DELICIOUUS, as was the veg. sambus I added on, and super reasonably priced for the quantity (and deliciousness!!) of food I was served. Come HUNGRY, leave VERY happy and FULL!! Beautiful, cozy dining room, great service, and a WONDERFUL way to support our pan-African neighbors!! Mmmmmmmmmmm!!

My very first meal on moving to Ohio!…read more On my way from the airport to the hotel, I was hankering for some good food. Good ol' Yelp popped up Foodateria on my route, and I am so glad it did. The restaurant had a warm ambiance with earthy tones as you walk in. Nothing to write home about with standard tables and chair but one is here for the fare! The gentleman who runs the restaurant kindly suggested the Yetty's Egusi. In my opinion it was the perfect surf and turf (or should I say surf and fluff?) dish. This was a delicious stew with both fish and chicken in it. The stew of spinach (or was that kale?) and melon seeds in palm oil initially left me a little confused wondering if it was ricotta cheese, scrambled eggs, or fish roe. The Chicken drumstick and the fish morsel were deep fried separately then added to the stew later before serving. The chicken was really good with a teeny crust from the frying, and moist and juicy inside, but I have got to hand it to the fish. It was moist, flaky, flavourful, and reminded me of all the river fish I grew up eating. Upon mentioning to the gentleman that I was intrigued by the Fufu, he let me order it as a side (it's not usually served with the Egusi). It was super soft, starchy, with no need to masticate. Had you come here with your gummy teeth, having left your dentures at home, you would have absolutely no problems downing this dish. Had on its own it reminds one of a smooth and creamy mashed potatoes. I enjoyed pinching out tiny morsels of it, dunk it in the sauce, and just let is slide down my chute. PS: I read that it is considered ill-mannered to chew the fufu. One usually swallows the morsel without any chewing. And I can see why. Just crush it up with your tongue against the roof of your mouth to extract its mild flavour and enjoy the creamy texture, and off it goes! It's been a while, and I really need to go back again!
