We decided to keep Dr. Mostofi as he explained things to us from my last review so I'm bumping him up a couple more stars!

I appreciate their loyalty and getting to know them over the years. My doctor is Dr. Tanvi Raman. Dr. Raman really cares about her patients. She takes her time to listen and find solutions for your medical concerns. She has great bedside manners. I never feel rushed during my visits. I am very happy with her professional service. P.S. I miss Dr. Dolores Musco. She is an outstanding doctor. It's too bad she left the practice to pursue on the concierge level.

They were warm, professional, and truly cared for their patients, and the staff felt like part of a small, caring family practice. Unfortunately, as the practice grew, the staff became less friendly and harder to work with. Things declined rapidly once the Muscos left to form their concierge practice (which costs thousands of dollars per year, per patient). Since then, patient care has suffered greatly. Between my wife and I, we've tried several different providers here, and the experience has been consistently disappointing. The new doctors don't listen, and video appointments have been low-quality and unhelpful. The level of care, attentiveness, and professionalism that once defined this practice is simply gone. I finally switched to a physician at Sutter Health, and the difference has been night and day. My new doctor was thorough, actually listened, and helped me get the treatment I needed. I'm so glad I made the switch--my health truly depended on it. EDITED: If you are considering this office, make sure to look at the reviews for the last couple years.

Exceptional Care from a Physician in a League of His Own…read more I'm in my 50s and have lived in three major cities, experiencing care from multiple internists and general physicians over the years. While a couple have been good, Dr. Douglas Severance and his staff are in a league of their own. What sets him apart is not just his deep medical expertise but his pragmatic and caring demeanor -- a rare combination in today's healthcare landscape. He has successfully diagnosed complex medical conditions that others might have overlooked, guided me through holistic lifestyle changes that have significantly improved my health, and helped me navigate chronic conditions with both medical precision and compassion. Dr. Severance takes the time to truly listen, understand the full picture of his patients' health, and offer practical, sustainable solutions rather than just quick fixes. His thoughtful approach to patient care has made a profound difference in my life. Plus, he is just a great guy. He reminds me of my brother, an M.D. on the East Coast, who pursued medicine out of a genuine desire to help people. Dr. Severance embodies this same commitment. If more physicians were like him, healthcare would be transformed. I cannot recommend him highly enough--he is truly an exceptional doctor and a trusted partner in my health journey. His staff matches his caring ways. 5+ stars.

I was given an assignment to get labs, no actual care, a handful of promises, and a follow-up appointment with more promises which they canceled an hour prior to the appointment. I had every hope I had left in my being pinned on that appointment and the beginning of the unraveling of the Irish knot I currently live in. I've come to learn these random cancellations for the convenience of the practitioners are quite common. I guess they must be getting some irresistible tee times that conflict with patient times. If you want actual care, I highly recommend avoiding this office. You can throw a rock in Oakland and find a more qualified, RELIABLE practitioner.

I received a bill and it took over an hour for them to address this issue. While I waited in the office to get clarification of their gross mishandling of billing and handling reffering patients for lab draws both office doors for the managers were wide open. In one room someone was in the phone very loudly discussing how their office was under review for serious HIPPA violations. The unprofessionalism here is unbelievable, they must be used to no patients in their waiting room because she spoke very loudly. I could hear every detail about how patients medical information was left out in plain site for other patrons to see. Then, to add insult to injury, I heard a different manager discuss my situation with the front desk person. Telling him that "it's not Stanfords problem, it's my problem and I need to call insurance." After hearing this despicable response I asked to speak with her and directly confronted her about her disrespectful and unprofessional remarks. I then asked her, how are patients supposed to know their labs will be sent to quest or labcorp if they go to Stanford for lab draws, she states, "we tell you that when you refer you to the location." I told her "yes, well NO ONE TOLD ME THAT." That's what I had been trying to explain to them for over an hour. Her response ? "Oh I'm sorry, well what's your insurance?" At that point I was done, I told her I'm leaving and I have had enough of their incompetence. I saw the same doctor described in a different review. Dr. Chau, idk if it was an off day but he was loudly sighing and making noises my entire consult. Didn't have great recommendations for my issues and had poor bed side manner. AVOID AVOID AVOID. Trust that if you come here you the run risk of being mislead, miss-billed, having your personal health information illegally disclosed, and then any issues to be handled with the upmost incompetence.

I had a very disappointing experience during my appointment on April 7th, 2025, with Dr. Andrew…read moreCheung, DO, at 200 Porter Dr, Suite #300, San Ramon, CA. From the moment I arrived, the medical assistant, who is blonde and works under Dr. Cheung, displayed aggressive, uninterested, and dismissive behavior that made me feel uncomfortable and frightened. The medical assistant never introduced herself or informed me that she would be administering a COVID test. Things only worsened during the COVID-19 testing. She simply told me to pull my mask down and said, "This isn't going to be fun." She never once mentioned that she would be doing a COVID test or a throat swab, and she didn't explain what tests would be run or why they were necessary. Her overly aggressive approach caused pain and injury when she inserted the nasal swab too deeply, causing bleeding. The throat swab was similarly forceful and painful. When taking my blood pressure, she failed to perform the procedure properly, inflating the cuff and then quickly removing it without obtaining an accurate reading. She never placed the stethoscope like one does when taking manual blood pressure. She also used the wrong size cuff, and instead of properly taking my blood pressure, getting the correct cuff size and recording the result, she fabricated the reading. The assistant was rude, rushed, and unprofessional, slamming doors behind her and showing no interest in my well-being. When the doctor arrived, he was kind and apologized, but the blood pressure reading issue was never corrected on the discharge form. Later, the doctor said the manager would come into speak with me, but after he left, the blonde medical assistant returned and confronted me in a very intimidating manner, asking, "Do we have a problem?" in a tone that felt confrontational. I was shaken by her approach, and instead of offering a genuine apology, she attempted to justify her rushed behavior, claiming she had to attend to another patient. Her response was dismissive and unprofessional. Her appearance back in the room frightened me, as the doctor had told me the manager would be in, not the medical assistant to confront me about my complaint about her. The practice manager, Vicky, dismissed my complaints, suggesting that I was simply having a "bad day," and minimized my experience, failing to acknowledge the serious issues I raised. The practice manager then seemed to defend the medical assistant as if they were friends, mentioning that the assistant had worked there for 15 years with no complaints, and that she herself was a medical assistant for 40 years. She even explained that she was just in a hurry. To which i replied, "they should not schedule me an appointment if they cant take the time to explain the procedure, or properly take my blood pressure, or even introduce themselves" this is no excuse, and there is no reason to rush. It only takes a few seconds to introduce yourself, and explain a procedure. I guess she was trying to justify there was nothing wrong with how i was treated by saying this? Didn't make sense how that was relevant in the moment, and raises more concerns about her lack of concern over her employees behavior towards a patient, given all of the experience she claims to have. This statement that the blonde medical assistant had no complaints in 15 years is false, as there are multiple reviews online with similar complaints about the same medical assistant, who works under Dr. Cheung, highlighting ongoing issues with her behavior and procedures. What's even more concerning is that this particular medical assistant has received negative reviews going back six years, with several patients complaining about similar mistreatment and her aggressive behaviors. It seems that the practice is not taking these complaints seriously, and the assistant's behavior continues to harm patients. Despite the doctor's kindness, the lack of professionalism from the assistant and the practice manager was disturbing. I was left feeling unheard and disrespected, especially disappointing in an institution like John Muir Health, which has a strong reputation. I sincerely hope the practice takes action to address these issues to prevent future patients from experiencing similar mistreatment. I also believe a reimbursement for this visit is warranted. Crazy to pay for care and then be treated this way. I hope no one else has to experience the mistreatment I received during my visit. People who display such unprofessional and aggressive behavior should not be working in the medical field. I sincerely hope John Muir Health takes this complaint seriously and takes action to ensure better care and professionalism in the future, especially for patients who are unable to advocate for themselves or who feel threatened and scared, as I did, by behavior like this.

After the procedure I asked if it was ok for him to use his microwave oven at home. I had heard that microwave ovens can interfere with pacemakers. The nurse said that she wasn't sure. She suggested to be on the safe side he can use his microwave, but he should run out of the kitchen after pressing the start button. I was appalled. First off my great uncle was a war hero and lost the use of his legs in Korea in an attempt to rid the world of communism. How is a man who is confined to a wheelchair supposed to cook his hot pocket under these circumstances? Just imagine my poor great uncle Sterling having to wheel himself across the kitchen floor to avoid certain death! Is this how we treat veterans in this country? The only helpful person there was Alicia Cruz. I think she was a nurse. She intervened and suggested cooking the hot pocket in the over or an air fryer as these cooking methods will not interfere with the pacemaker. She also noted that cooking a hot pocket in a conventional oven or an air fryer will make a crispier crust. You are a true saint Alicia! God bless you, and God bless America!!
