I went to Dr. WArd to get my high bp under control the first week of February and she jumped on other symptoms and made referals at my first appointment. I am now in chemo therapy after having surgery. Feeling good now. She is a caring, kind and interested person 10/01/10 Bad news! Dr. Ward is narrowing her focus and going to pediatrics full time AND moving to a practice closer to her home.. I'm so sad about losing her after just having found her .So I was assigned to some one else in the practice and was told I would not get any more refills on my meds till I came in to see my new provider.. At the same time the building went to valet parking ONLY. I can just see me rolling up in my beat up old Aerostar (with the rusty eyebrows) and all the junk in the back and having to pay some guy park the old thing. NOT!!! Doctor Deanna Ward is the best in the area. she cares, she really listens and she partners with you in health. She does not rush to prescribe and push medicine like a good many doctors that seem to get a kickback from prescription drug companies for as much as they are willing and eager to prescribe drugs. Thanks to other yelp reviews, I am now a patient of Dr Ward. What a breath of fresh air! She never hurries me and as others have said, she LISTENS. Really, truly, listens. And she tells you straight up what she thinks, and asks for your input as well, which is so important! Cause if you're not on board with your doc, then you aren't gonna be very compliant, right? She's 2 years out of residency, so that means she knows the latest in medicine. And because we're somewhat close in age, she just gets it when I tell her something. I have used the relay health system to e mail her and she gets back to you within a day or two. I feel really lucky to have her as my doc. I've had a few in my life, and so far she's the best one I've had. read more

Deanna was my son's doctor for his first 2 years in Chicago, while she was a resident. He is now four and has a lil brother, between the 2 of them we have seen a number of doctors, she is by far the BEST! We were very sad to see her go. My wife and I have been seeing Dr.Ward for the past two years after moving to the Tri-Valley area; she has been the perfect general practioner for us. On top of her personality being warm and comforting, she will listen and try to discover the source of your issues or even admit it may be beyond her expertise. My company switched from a PPO to and HMO last year so for the first time ever, I'm dealing with the "gatekeeper" and I actually needed a primary care physician to get referrals to all my various specialists for all my various ailments. Since my kids are teenagers, I thought this would be a good chance to move them out of a pediatrician's office and into a "family doctor." I scoured Yelp trying to find a doctor close to home but the ones with good reviews were all filled up. So I broadened my search and found Dr. Ward. THANK YOU to everyone for posting your experiences with her because you enabled us to find a family doctor we ALL love (even my picky boyfriend who was practically dragged to his appointment thinks she's the best doctor ever!) Dr. Ward is personable and caring, and not the slightest bit judgmental of any unhealthy habits you may have. My favorite thing is that she listens, offers suggestions and keeps asking, "OK is there anything else?" until there is absolutely nothing else that needs to be covered. And, if by chance I did forget something, she responds quickly through MyHealth (the online portal). She emailed my boyfriend to follow up on something they had discussed and when he didn't log on to see her email, she sent it via post office letter to him. I loved Dr. Ward she instantaneously diagnosed an illness I had from from for years under different care, wrote a prescription and I have great ever since and that was 3 years ago. She's the best Dr. I've ever had and being an asthma, allergies, eczema, etc. etc. patient I've had quite a few. We LOVE Dr. Ward!! My girls get so excited anytime I tell them we are going to the Dr- they say she is their "best friend"... she is truly an amazing pediatrician and family Dr. Very easy to talk to and very patient. She doesn't jump right to medication unless necessary and is just all around awesome! We picked our ins based on where she was at so we wouldn't have to lose her as our Dr, and when she switched to PAMF we followed her there. I'm sorry but Deanna was the most useless doctor I have ever seen. I had some abdominal pain and she checked me out for a few minutes then said "I have no idea". Actually said she didn't have a clue. I can respect people saying they don't know but she offered no explanation and no tests. She offered to ask some specialists and get back to me. She never did. I called the office several times to follow up. She still never got back to me and neither did her office. For that "service" it was $270. Wow. read more

I've been through the mill. Mutilated by one surgeon, saved by another ,but left with hideous nerve pain, back pain and a complicated medical issues. Most Dr.s Run from patients like me. NOT Dr. Ward. Ever since I walked through her door I've had nothing but kindness and genuine care about not just my medical issues but ME as a person. Her caring has made me cry ,after some of the creeps I've seen,some of which shouldn't have a license. Besides being kind, she THINKS! I've worked with physicians for over 30 years and most of them can't or are unwilling to think. My husband said" I know, I tried to teach physics to them". So, I love her to death, she cares about my Heath issues, me as a person, thinks outside the box, when the problem doesn't fit in one, and most important perhaps ,is that she talks to you, yea, YOU, the whole time she's with you. One of the big disappointments of 2009 was moving out of Dr. Ward's area. I had been with East Bay family Practice for about 25 years; left briefly and returned after a horrific experience elsewhere, to find wonderful Dr. Ward. I had been with another doctor there for more than 20 years there, so impressing me wasn't going to be easy; and yet, she did. Her personable, warm approach could momentarily camouflage her incisive mind, but only briefly. She listens, counsels, heals and empowers self-healing. What more could anyone want? My OB is in the same group and referred Dr. Ward as a pediatrician when my son was born. My OB delievered and checked us at the hospital, but within the first few days, Dr. Ward made a house call to check on my newborn. My son has has ongoing skin and allergy problems from day one, and Dr. Ward has gone out of her way to research, communicate and help us with all the questions and concerns that we have encountered so far. read more

Dr. Ward is great. She is very approachable and confident. She makes you feel comfortable and not incompetent like some Physicians. And although she might not have as many years experience as others, she is very concerned of your well being and seeks out professional opinions from other Physicians and takes time to look into your special symptoms is they happen to be more uncommon.She even got the green light from my picky husband who is a Med student.
