We woke up Thursday morning to a flooded kitchen, across our wood floors. Water line to water/ice maker on new refrigerator installed on Wednesday evening, ruptured sometime during the night. I vacuumed up over two gallons of water. I called our insurance agent who recommended AfterDisaster. I called at about 10 am and had a technician on site by 4 pm. they took moisture measurements of floors and walls. They set up drying fans and an industrial dehumidifier to prevent mold. Equipment ran over through the weekend and on Monday morning (after 3 full days of drying) the 2 technician set up a temporary plastic floor to ceiling wall, and sealed the dining room doorway with plastic. They removed a large amount of flooring, before we decided to call in the flooring company that had originally stalled the wood floors. In all, the AfterDisaster team arrived quickly. Okay, so the water heater broke and leaked from the attic down to the dining room and caused quite a bit of water to leak- there was a lot of damage to the floors, second bathroom, and the master bedroom closet. It was a mess and happened during the beginning of the Coronavirus pandemic. I was not comfortable letting anyone in the house but had no choice. Avery Cockerl with After Disaster made me feel at ease during this time and words cannot express how thankful I am. My son and I had to leave the house while he was working (for safety reasons) but we came back early and sat outside in the car - unbeknownst to him. He was so thorough and careful - each time he had to come out of the house he followed ALL safety protocols. Removed his booties, gloves, and kept his face mask on THE ENTIRE TIME. The disaster was overwhelming because it was one disaster after another in my home. I appreciated everything AFTERDISASTER did to help me during this difficult time. All the staff were so nice. They came in and explained everything they were going to do. They cleaned up the mess. A pipe busted in the bathroom in the wall and then the plumbers came out to fix it. I called my friend because she had a pipe that busted in her home too andal ot of water damage. AFTERDISASTER was at her home when I called and they came out to mine the very next day. An AFTERDISASTER employee was here to represent me when my insurance company came out to assess my disaster. I was able to not stress about the claim process because they helped me through it. After Disaster is a FANTASTIC company. They have been to my home as well as my fathers home to help in our time of need. My father had a tree fall on his roof in hurricane Matthew and they were there within in the hour to get the roof covered to prevent further damage and brought fans in to dry the area that was damaged. Their team were able to handle the entire claim for him so that he didn't have to do anything. They were recently out to my home because of a busted water heater that leaked and did damage in the basement. Same great service again! As an insurance agent I always refer my clients to them as I trust them to take care of my customers. The owners Betsy and Claude are the nicest and really care for their clients and it shows!
