    Rings from afterlife

Afterlife is one of my favorite vintage stores in the city. I don't always find something every time I step in, but I like looking through the uniquely curated items that cycle in and out every season. There's definitely an established style here, which I appreciate and vibe with. Their most plentiful items include vintage denim (do try them on in the fitting rooms, because sizing varies so much by era), denim/work jackets, graphic and band tees, and sweaters. I love coming in to find one of a kind knit cardigans or sweaters, and have a steadily growing collection from Afterlife. They also carry lots of accessories, ranging from jewelry, scarves, bandanas, to handbags (vintage Coach) and hats and sunglasses. It's really fun to sample everything. Pricing wise, I think most items are pretty reasonable. I wear most of my purchases very often, and have gotten my money's worth. There are items on the pricier side, but that's because they're either rare or just a cool find in general. Afterlife sometimes has a sale 50% off the entire store. When this happens, SO much is worth the money. It's my lucky day every time I come and there's a big sale :) Overall, my favorite thing about afterlife is the experience of digging through such one of a kind items. Truly like a treasure chest, and recommend it to everyone!

here is from where I sewed the pants

After spending well over $400 dollars on two jackets, two jeans (which the vintage Levis ripped after two days mind you I did not wash them, they ripped in the crotch area and one of the loops where the belt goes through also ripped, and this was with very very light wear. I also bought a pair of their brand pants and are amazing btw my fav ever ). I was really disappointed with the Levi's because they really are so nice they are also my favorite but had to resew myself. One of the jackets was too bulky/squared off its a M-L size but I usually wear a S-M, I live in the South Bay so a week later I came back and the orange head said I couldn't return it because it didn't have the tag? Those tags are miniscule and can come off by itself, that's the reason I can't return it? Seriously, you guys sell very beautiful things, I myself bought really beautiful pieces and am just disappointed at the lack of service or empathy I received from store. This was my first time in there after finding it closed so many times. On the fence of saying fuck this place and this place is a heaven.

Solidly curated selection of reasonably priced vintage. Great vibe and aesthetic, no overbearing employees just casual and friendly. Good light in the fitting rooms. An acquaintance recommended Afterlife for their denim selection but I was more stoked about the variety of vintage Coach bags and Harley tees. Picked up a great vintage Disney sweatshirt for $42. Looking forward to popping by again in the future.

Know what kind of afterlife I want? The kind that starts with a breakneck taxi ride, with a cultist driver, who demands my Nyarlathotepian servitude, with us teetering on the edge of a bridge, then plummeting to a river and a watery grave. I basically want to die and become Bill Cosby. And I want to wear bootleg clothes from here once I've done so.

    Amazing score... what a find

Good clothes, very poor customer service. I'd rather buy elsewhere than deal with them again.

So many beautiful reincarnations of hot vintage items in here. And it's very affordable. This store speaks to me on so many great levels.

Afterlife Boutique was selling my "Holy Grail" vintage Forty Niner jacket that I have been coveting since I was a kid!

Well priced, well tended. In a world where the selection of vintage jewelry is oceanic, Relic chooses very carefully and displays intelligently. Each piece is arranged thematically and color-complementarily. The clerks are friendly and knowledgeable. I'm enjoying the gorgeous scarf I chose, from their incredible selection. When I paid by credit card, I was asked for ID and told that "credit card thefts are very common here." I have lived in the U.S. for years and never get asked for ID for ordinary retail purchases, so in the context of being watched throughout the store, this felt like racial profiling rather than a neutral store policy. What made the experience especially upsetting was the contrast between the store's self-presentation and how I was treated. This is a vintage/counterculture-looking space in San Francisco, with a sign at the entrance advertising itself as the city's "No. 1" vintage store, yet I was made to feel like a risk object rather than a customer. I did not feel welcome or trusted as a non-white customer, and I would not feel comfortable returning.

Held Over was always genuine. It never tried or aspired to be something that it wasn't. It's vintage was affordable and timeless and it's staff were always helpful and kind. I am glad that the many items that I have hand selected from here over the years will continue to live on. If you happen to be in SF and reading this review - today is the perfect day to pay homage to a magical spot that has persevered through San Francisco's always changing business landscape. Today will be the last day to buy items from this thrift wonderland. Thank you Held Over for the beautiful memories and vintage threads. I heart you. Trust.

There is a section for hats, glasses are kept in the glass cases at the cash wrap. While this isn't my favorite shop on the block, they do have specific finds. I've not found anything I felt worth buying based on my own style; but it is worth a walk-thru if you like to hunt and see pieces from the past. Also, big denim section, and extensive knitwear selections.
