My mother recently passed away after a very difficult six months and my father downsized from the large home they lived in for the past 45 years to an apartment. This was my first experience in having an estate sale. We had SO MUCH STUFF it was overwhelming! My MIL was an artist and the entire house was filled with items from her 20 years of teaching art, as well as so many hand me down items from other family members. Every single corner of their house was filled to the brim of "stuff" as well as "hidden treasures". Arthur and his team came in and priced and organized all the items and worked in the front room collecting the money and a few of us were allowed to work in the Art Room pricing and selling "Gammy's many years of Art Work". The sale was so smooth and actually ended up being 3 very enjoyable days of working with Arthur and his team! He really "knows his stuff" and is very competant at his job. When we asked Arthur to come out to appraise my mother's estate we had no idea what to expect or what the worth of the estate would be. Arthur was out to my mom's house within a week and gave us an honest appraisal of my mother's estate. What I think sets Arthur apart from the competition is: the value of the estate wasn't very high, and Arthur was honest with us about the amount he thought we'd receive. He also bent over backwards to ensure we wouldn't end up paying him more than we'd get out of the estate and gave us some valuable alternative options. I was referred to Afternoon Estate Sales by their prior client. I called and Arthur and Misty came over the same day to come take a look what we were dealing with and offer the best action plan. The estate did not contain enough to warrant the cost of having a estate sale ran by the company, but Arthur offered sales suggestions, game plans, and looked over the items to make sure we knew about all the hidden gems that were worth more money. He found a small silver thimble that was over 100 years old. He is trustworthy, professional, super knowledgeable about items and knows what will sell and what will not sell. Have been to a couple of his estate sales. Many items are not priced, when you ask he says he needs to research it first. Isn't that their job to have items priced before said Sale starts? Seems very unknowledgeable on values of items & makes up prices as he goes. The worst part of the experience is he has some gun toting armed men standing around staring at Customers that look like they were in the movie Deliverance!
