He was also completely transparent every step of the way. I hired an antique appraiser along with Arthur, but in several cases Arthur was more knowledgeable. He found better ways to sell some silver and gold in the house as well as moved all my appliances and got a bunch for some small items that I didn't think were valuable. Finally, he was upfront with his pricing. I knew what the sale and clean out were going to cost and Arthur was honest about what we were likely to make so I could make a good decision going in. I called 3 other estate sales companies and they all spent about an hour or two and asked lots of questions. I know I don't have a million dollars in stuff, but he could have at least been respectful and spent any time looking at all my items before making an evaluation.

The first…read morevisit with Amy went fine, so we scheduled the sale for late July and I signed the agreement. The sale was scheduled for 7/27; closing on sale of the house had been scheduled for 7/30. On the morning of 7/21 Amy and her husband came to the house again. This meeting didn't feel right. They were dismayed that I didn't have an extra set of keys to give them, and that the carport did not have a gate that could be locked. This was the first I had heard about either of these conditions, but I told them I would get a set of keys ASAP, even though I was completely willing to let them in when needed, then leave them alone in the house if necessary (their preference to be alone). I checked the agreement that I had signed, and nowhere does it say that A & A needs their own set of keys. There was nothing I could do about the carport, but nothing more was said. Early that afternoon, 7/21, I received a text that they would not do the sale because of these two issues. Both could easily be fixed, but there was no discussion with me. I had already said I would provide keys (although everyone I mentioned this to thought it was odd), and the outdoor items in the storage sheds could either be set out the day of the sale, or simply omitted from the sale and left in the sheds. Since I do not live in TX and the closing was imminent I was desperate for this sale to happen when scheduled. I literally begged them to reconsider, and they grudgingly agreed. The sale did take place; the results were so-so, but that's not the issue. I'm aware that I was not their ideal client since I was trying to clear out the home of a pack rat and there weren't many items of significant value. If they had reviewed the pictures they took on the first visit and the additional ones that I sent and then decided it wasn't worth their time I might have had time to find someone else. But between hiring them and holding the sale they made no effort to communicate with me unless I contacted them first. And cancelling at the eleventh hour, and by text rather than phone call, was a very low blow that caused me a great deal of stress. Since others appear to have had a good experience with this company I am happy for them; I only wish my experience had been half as good.

Pat and crew were able to clean out a 5 bedroom house, filled to the brim with collectors items, technology, gadgets, tools, musical equipment, and ham radio gear, books, and computer technology. I was very concerned about missing out on hidden treasures or throwing away something that would later turn out to be very valuable. They were able to research the real value of all of the items and set fair prices. When we told them how much his ham radio equipment had meant to him, they visited ham radio clubs around Dallas and sought expert advice in order to not only get good prices, but to ensure the equipment went to people that would love and respect it as much as he did. They also separated all of the junk from the estate and facilitated it's removal. Pat was unbelievably responsive throughout the entire process and took great care to ensure transparency and respect throughout the process. After deciding that in-house sales had hit their peak, they moved the remaining items to online auctions getting even more returns for us. When the doors opened we found that the prices were astronomical! They had light fixtures that we were interested in but could not believe the prices. We Goggled the lights and found the same lights online for the same price they were asking. The lights online had been posted for sale for months. We left and went back on the last day and all the lights were still there. We only purchased one light at 75% off and still paid almost $200. To make matters worse, the gentleman told us we would have to come back at closing to take down the light ourselves. There was no way we were waiting hours for the sale to end so we could take the light. We would have purchased more but figured we could find other lights less expensive at a different sale.
