Disappointed and Frustrated with A to Z Remodeling and Construction Services…read moreI hired A to Z Remodeling and Construction Services, owned by John Blackburn, for a kitchen remodel with a promised 14-day completion timeline. Unfortunately, the experience was extremely disappointing and frustrating. Project Timeline and Delays * The project began on July 18, 2025, and wasn't finished until August 14--far beyond the original schedule. * Delivery of cabinets was delayed and split into two shipments (July 24 and July 31), holding up installation. Cabinet Installation Issues * A critical custom cabinet was incorrectly measured and installed improperly, resulting in significant lost storage space. * Despite providing detailed measurements, the issue was not satisfactorily resolved, and the owner became defensive when approached. Painting Work and Communication * Painting was unprofessional, with the painter ignoring instructions and leaving areas unfinished. * A side agreement for additional painting outside the contract was complicated by company policies and a family emergency, leaving us to complete the work ourselves. * Communication about discounts and payment was inconsistent. Final payment had to be recorded because no invoice was provided. * We were double charged for paint work due to their miscalculation and only partially reimbursed. They refused responsibility for credit card interest charges from the overpayment. Appliance Reinstallation and Damage * The refrigerator water line was left disconnected, the stove was uneven, and the electrician scratched cabinets trying to install the microwave, which was finally installed the following day. Garbage Disposal and Plumbing Issues * The plumber couldn't install the garbage disposal initially due to missing parts discarded by the construction crew. * We bought replacement parts ourselves, but the sink leaked again. * John became argumentative when we raised the issue. * The plumber said the parts we bought were incompatible and leaks would continue. * Despite the fault being theirs, John said we were responsible for the $250 service call. We ended up buying a new garbage disposal and paying the plumber $100. Unfinished Work and Lack of Follow-Up * The spice cabinet was delivered unassembled and never installed. * The promised countertop follow-up has never happened despite repeated messages; responses have been repetitive with no progress. Giovanni - The One Exception Throughout this disappointing experience, Giovanni was the one and only person deserving of exceptional service. He was the sole crew member who consistently demonstrated professionalism, competence, and genuine effort on the project. Unfortunately, he was the only member of the team who lived up to the standards one expects from a remodeling company. Summary Overall, the project was marked by delays, poor workmanship, lack of accountability, and poor communication. While my kitchen does look aesthetically pleasing, it does not take away from all of the missteps and frustrations experienced during the construction process. I cannot recommend A to Z Remodeling or John Blackburn based on my experience.

So like most other homeowners looking for granite installers, I did my online research. I ran…read moreacross the big boys in town, you know the ones often referred to you by the granite warehouses. We even had a couple come to our house for estimates. Both were more interested in telling me what granite I wanted and how I needed to buy from their "preferred" distributor than in listening to me and my wife. I was very unhappy with both of them and knew there had to be a better company in town. I ran across Jacksonville Countertops on both Yelp and here on Google reviews and EVERYONE had great things to say about Chris and his team. My first meeting with him went great, he was courteous and professional and gave me a price THOUSANDS less than the other installers. One had calculated that we required four slabs of granite and was charging me for 164 sq/ft. When Chris measured it, he came up with 114 sq ft and required only three slabs!! Seriously, is that that much abuse in this industry? Do they think that homeowners cant calculate square footage? Chris didn't leave my house before I agreed to hire him. His reviews were fantastic, his price was the best, and we hit it off like we had known each other for years. When he returned a few days later to take measurements, he had the latest and greatest laser measuring system. Gone are the days of the old wooden templates. I was quite impressed and immediately felt even more comfortable that I had hired the right guy. Installation went smooth, he and his crew did it all in one day with perfect fit and finish everywhere. We couldn't be happier with the service, quality and the end result. We are doing my daughters kitchen soon and without a doubt, we will be using Chris and his team. My advice: Go to Granite Depot on Phillips Hiway and choose your slabs, they have the best selection in town. Then call Chris and let him take it from there. You will not regret it!

He listens and works his magic to make sure I am absolutely happy with my slab/sink selection and his installation. His price is better than both HD and Lxxe's. Plus, I get to pick out the granite I like by looking at the actual slabs instead of a sample square. With the latest technology, Chris was able to precisely fit this L shape countertop with the sink cutout as 1 piece. Countertops came out more beautiful than I expected. I am 100% recommending Chris and his team for your countertop project.
