The people who work here are kind and sympathetic. I have no doubt the remains of my cat Mia were kindly handled. The big sticking point I have with them is that they use the US Postal Service to ship cremains. It took at least 10 days to receive them because USPS is required to obtain a signature. read more

I had a cherished pet pass away last week and chose Agape in Sandston because I had used their services several times before. My veterinarian's office and I went over every detail concerning what I wanted for my pet. Yesterday, one of my vet's assistants calls me and tells me that I wouldn't be getting the lock of fur I paid for and that there was another issue with the nameplate for the pet. The vet's assistant told me that a gentleman named Andrew had called them to inform them and apologize profusely. I asked the vet's assistant to contact Andrew and ask that he call me directly which I verified with her that he had been given the message. A day later and still no call from Andrew. The default policy here should be to get two fur clippings from each pet and save them for a while in case something like this happens again. Whoever it was that neglected to follow the copious and detailed notes provided by myself and the vet's office should be dismissed for cause immediately and a refund in the full amount times 2 should be offered to me. Any trust or confidence that I had for Agape Pet Services has now been utterly and absolutely destroyed and I doubt very seriously if they could ever regain it now. UPDATE: Since the posting of my review above, I received a call from a gentleman that works for Agape Sandston. He was very understanding about the whole situation with the lock of fur and whiskers I was supposed to receive. He clearly cared a great deal about what had happened and how the failure to obtain my requested memorial items was irreplaceable and completely unacceptable. I was at least partially comforted by receiving his call, so I'll give him kudos for caring enough. read more

Our sweet girl was sent to Agape by our vet when she passed of complications following growths of tumors. It all happened very fast on our end. We opted for individual cremation and a paw print. Inside the bag given us by the vet a few days later were two boxes.. the smaller of which contained a laughable attempt at an imprint of her paw. Less than half of the print was captured. In the larger, we must assume, were her ashes. But as they couldn't successfully get a full pawprint off a dead dog, I have my doubts. read more

In January this year, I lost my sweet little poodle, named Fifi. I didn't know anything about where my veterinarian was going to send my pet for cremation. But when her ashes were returned to me I was overwhelmed at the care and love that went into the return of the ashes. The detailed care was beyond what I expected. I only wish the 2nd vet I went to could have used Agape. In my grief I didn't ask. When my second pet's ashes were returned to me I was so distraught and upset. Nothing like Agape. Losing a pet is never easy and our family was devastated when we lost both of our pugs within 2 months of each other. We had never lost a pet and didn't feel comfortable sending our little paway and picking her ashes up the following week. So we opted to have a viewing. We went to Agape not knowing what to expect but were blown away with the kindness and compassion they displayed. They gave us all the time we wanted with Chelsea and Yoda and never made us feel rushed. While we waited for their little bodies to be cremated the staff played a movie for the kids and offered us refreshments. The cremation facility itself is immaculate. You can watch the entire process from the viewing room. We only watched bits and pieces but observed that the handler was extremely gentle with both of our pugs. There is absolutely no doubt in my mind that they do not mix pets' ashes when you opt to have an individual cremation. I am very thankful to Agape for making our grief more bearable. read more

Unfortunately, we have had to use their services 3 times in the last year and a half - unfortunately because we lost our senior pets. But we are SO happy that our vet uses Agape! They are absolutely amazing. I cannot say enough wonderful things about them. Recently, I lost my beloved 15 Yr Old GSP, Daisy. She had been with me for 14 years and I am heartbroken. Our vet is so amazing, caring and sensitive and Agape just continues that with their respectful treatment of your beloved pet. I We lost our sweet Diesel unexpectedly Thursday around 3pm. We rushed to get to Agape before they closed, we live about 45 mins away. We literally arrived at 3:59pm when they close at 4pm. They were so kind & let us say one last goodbye, we never felt rushed. I ordered additional items on their website that night. I called the next day at 9ish to see when he would be ready & asked if they could do expedite his return. They called me back & said they could with an additional cost - which is completely understandable since I am asking them to rush. I asked for a return call to let me know he when he was ready, they called & we headed their way. They were so compassionate when we arrived to pick up what's left of our sweet boy. I would like to share how wonderful and compassionate Agape Pet Services are. My cat, Sweetie passed away recently and I had her cremated and picked her up from the vets today. Her urn was contained in a beautiful dark blue velvety drawstring bag and placed inside a large blue velvety bag with a paw print inside a small white box. I knew that they said something about a 'paw print' but really didn't know what they meant or even asked at the time. The paw print IS HER paw print set into a round cast. When I saw this my heart kind leaped and a few sweet tears ran down my face. It was such a beautiful and totally unexpected tribute to my baby girl. Had a need, unfortunately, for Agape to pick up my horse who had been euthanized Monday. I placed the order with them in the mid afternoon, and due to their delay, not getting to the farm until 7:30 or so I was charged an after hours pickup fee. This has really left a bad feeling for what was already a bad day for me. No one advised me of that fee and I spoke to their office about 4 times that day, me calling to ask why the delay, they calling me to advise of further delays. We had the unfortunate need for Agape Pet Services a few months ago upon the loss of a much beloved kitty whom we wished to have cremated. His passing was traumatic and unexpected, and it left Hubby and I in bits. We wanted to do the best we could for our kitty in his final send off, and hoped that his remains would be treated just as sensitively and lovingly as though they were human. Agape Pet Services was recommended to us by the emergency vet clinic, many staff members of which had used Agape for their own pets, and gave their personal assurances of Agape's expertise and propriety. When I called to arrange the services, Paul was very helpful and patient with me during my multiple tear-ups as we spoke. Hubby and I chose to do an individual cremation with the private, attended viewing option. We were (still) both a wreck on the day of the cremation, but the kindness and genuine sympathy of Paul and Tina (with their adorable bereavement counselor/ canine-in-residence Ilio) helped put us at ease while we were there. After the process was complete, we were able to leave with the remains directly. I have no doubt that the remains I received are those of our kitty. Beloved kitty now resides on our mantle in an urn that we later purchased online but had Agape engrave for us. Caleb, their engraver in MD, went out of his way to perfectly scale and position rather a lot of text on a small space. The urn, with its contents, is for us a visual reminder of the years of love and joy we had with our pet. Knowing that it was all so well done is a comfort. read more
