Our large group had dinner at the Daily while we were in the area for business, we had plans to go elsewhere but last minute changed our plans and I'm so glad we did! Our waitress was pleasant and orderly, she handled our large group with poise. We ordered drinks, I had the Expat which wasn't maybe as interesting as I had hoped but it was good. We split several apps among our table, the Brussels sprouts were amazing, and I also really loved the buffalo cauliflower. Steamed buns were okay, wouldn't choose them again if I were to return. My favorite item I had was the beet salad, so fresh and delicious. For my main I ordered the poke bowl. It was good, not the best poke I have had by any means but it was still decent. Brought an out of town guest here and it was just OK. With so many choices in town, I don't think we will back. Unfortunately I had once of the worst burgers of my life. Zero seasoning to the meat and way overcooked- yet no char. The tomato was so pale it was practically white- it was the end piece with hard middle stem area, plus the lettuce was legit rotten. I asked to please have a new, fresh set of L&T, which was provided. Whoever put that produce on a plate should be fired - they are in the wrong profession. Moving on.... my friend ordered the pig and fig pizza which was pretty good but the pulled pork was scant and the giant mount of arugala on top was just overkill. Furthermore, when my friend ordered a side ceasar salad to go with her pizza, if I were the server, I would have made sure they knew the pizza basically already comes witha a giant salad on top. The salad dressing was served on the side, which was not requested and kind of a peeve of ours- we like salads tossed in the dressing. But in this case it was a blessing as the ceasar dressing was really gross. Super thick and tasted like plain mayo with a tinge of garlic. Our server was very attentive and super sweet, but a bit new to the biz I suspect. I ordered a Moscow Mule. She brought a pink fizzy cocktail of some kind. Me: Um, that's not a Mosow Mule- it's pink. Server: I guess the bartender decided to dress it up. Me after tasing a sip: No this tastes like sour berries. A Moscow Mule is Ginger Beer and Vodka only. Amazing spot and definitely feels like a hidden gem for vegans! The ambience is up-scale without the stuffiness of fine-dining and service is excellent. They have a beautiful indoor area and a mostly shaded patio if you want to eat outside. We ordered the vegan buddha bowl and vegan TLT sandwich - both were absolutely delicious! The bowl had crispy chickpeas, perfectly roasted veg, and a super yummy tahini-lemon-beet flavor profile that was filling and healthy! The TLT was also very well done - the perfect vegan-version of the classic, but maybe could have used a little more tempeh. Overall, we had an amazing experience and The Daily is probably going to be one of our new go-to spots in Richmond. For the quality of food and location, prices are reasonable too. Yikes! Met some friends here for a late brunch on recommendation. They serve breakfast until 3. The Daily is a good sized establishment, and we were immediately sat. I like the individual, ungendered restrooms, but that's about it. My boyfriend and I started with a shared everything bagel. It was burnt to a crisp, but I gave them the benefit of the doubt and assumed it was intentionally charred. Loaded with onion and capers. My breakfast of choice was the lump crab benedict. With the time I waited for my food, I wasn't going to send it back, but it was inedible. Dry english muffin (maybe stale), and fully cooked yolks in all of the "poached" eggs. I ate the little crab on it and left the rest. A $150 bill for four people and mediocre food. I'm unhappy and recommend people visit elsewhere. Visiting Richmond for the Half Marathon this weekend. Stopped by The Daily on Cary St. Funny enough, I lived here for a couple years in my 20s and this place was only about a 40-minute walk from me--no idea how I never came before. The host/server was friendly and helpful. I ordered the Broccolini to start and the Glazed Salmon (with jasmine rice, ginger bok choy, kimchi, gochujang glaze, sesame, and scallion -- GF). The salmon was excellent: a bit salty, but really flavorful, and the kimchi + glaze combo worked great with the rice and veggies. Broccolini was solid too. Overall, quality meal and good service. We stopped by The Daily Kitchen & Bar while walking around Carytown--the big patio immediately caught our eye and seemed like a perfect spot to sit. Even though there were quite a few open tables, we were told there would be a 15-minute wait, which felt a little odd. The menu is very gluten-free friendly, which we appreciated, but most items were gluten-free optional and came with an additional charge. The gluten-free bread itself wasn't great and definitely didn't live up to the rest of the meal. That said, the sandwiches were large and filling, so portion size is definitely a plus. Brunch is only on weekends, got it. I came here once last year for Easter and I remember it being good. The service and the ambiance is the same but the food quality has drastically declined. So disappointing. I ordered the exact same thing that I ordered the last time I was here. The buffalo chicken wrap, would you imagine there is no flavor of buffalo in this wrap. The chicken tasted like it was either frozen or taken out of a can. It lacked flavor, it was Chewy, it was gross. Everything else tasted like soggy and watery. It literally tasted like the kitchen staff ran the contents of the wrap under water and then packed my wrap, the way how everything lacked flavor. Incredibly disappointing. The sweet potato fries also came out, majority burned/crispy. Mind you, it's a Monday. It's not very busy. I ordered a latte, that tasted like straight hot milk. No taste of coffee or espresso. My waitress never checked on us after bringing out our plates so I didn't get the opportunity to address the taste of my coffee. My partner got the hot honey pizza, that was incredibly flavorful. It was quite shocking to see how slow the service was, which made getting refills or simple things like hot sauce a really annoying process. The drink tasted fine, but it felt like I was not getting much for the price. I ordered the avocado-tomato omelette, and there were so many tomatoes that no other flavors could come through. They were not super well cooked, so it basically tasted like eating some raw tomatoes with egg. The avocado had a bunch of brown spots on it, having clearly missed its 15-minute window. The home fries that came with it were the only actually good thing on the plate. For the price tag, nothing matched - bad service, mediocre food, half a drink. Back in 2018, shortly following a surgery, I knew I had to eat something bland and landed at The Daily for the first time. I ordered the mahi mahi, which I recalled being bland and boring, and subsequently did not return until December 2022 on a whim. I didn't know what I was missing. On that visit, and several visits following, I've had amazing food, great service, and tasty drinks. Both their cocktails and mocktails are top tier. For food, I've had the burger, the white pizza, and, several times over, the caesar salad. It may be my favorite caesar in Richmond. It's that good. I've also had their spinach and artichoke dip, which is pureed, and surprisingly incredible. It came with a perfect proportion of pita, too. When I want a decently healthy meal, The Daily now comes to mind. It's definitely a Richmond institution. read more

We really enjoy going to The Daily Kitchen & Bar in Richmond's Carytown. The food, service, and atmosphere are excellent and fun. The restaurant has large windows on two sides. The front windows are actually glass doors that slide open to merge the outside and inside. You can choose to dine outside, but I like to dine inside and breathe in the outside air and see, while also enjoying air conditioning. Even inside, the decor is tones of green and brown, with brown/gold metal trees as art--again merging the outside with the inside. They have a full bar with a wide variety of options and a menu of yummy cocktails. Now to the food. This visit, we enjoyed the Chopped Salad with grilled chicken added, the Mediterranean turkey burger, and the buffalo chicken wrap. The burger and wrap came with sweet potato fries. Portions are generous, and the meals were delicious. The restaurant gets busy at lunch, so make an Open Table reservation. Enjoy! read more

We went to the one in Carytown. Brussel sprouts is a great starter with tons of flavor! I ordered an avocado salad and I loved it. There were many fresh veggies in it like sweet corn, black beans, rice and whole half avocado. Salsas was fresh too. Beef hamburger, California club sandwich, Spain omelette and quinoa salad were delicious too. During lunch time, all the servers were too busy! I wish they come and asked how were our food though. I understand they are working hard but on our customers side, we do need more attention. It was a very hot day, unfortunately we did not get enough cool A/C because they opened the glass window so our table seats were pretty hot. What a charming place! I loved their bright color choices! My niece and I stopped here for a little something to eat after some serious sightseeing. We ordered the Crispy Brussels Sprouts from our server Sophia and I had a glass of the San Simon Chard. These were the best Brussels Sprouts I believe I have ever had! That is my "go to" at most restaurants and I liked that they put shaved Parmesan cheese on them instead of Feta. I will be trying it next time I make them at home. The food is pretty solid here. The perks are the organic options which are harder to find. The kale salad has been a favorite for years and still is-on our last visit I added the organic chicken and it was far to chargrilled for my liking. The areas that were touching the grill had a heavy burned flavor which significantly took away from the dish. We sat at the bar and found our bartender to be friendly and efficient. I had the coco something mocktail which was refreshing and nice and my husband had to drinks, both which he enjoyed. The restaurant has great lighting but could use a good ceiling clean as there seemed to be dust build up across the whole ceiling. Happy hour options are only available if you sit up at the bar, which has limited seating. Went for dinner on a Monday and it was pretty dead, yet the service was painfully slow. The bartender appeared to have a group of friends at the bar and hung with them the entire time and didn't ask us how we were doing once. Brussel sprouts were great. The teriyaki bowl has a great flavor but my rice was hard and uncooked. Overall it was just okay. I have been here a couple of times and have really enjoyed it both times. In a great location in Carytown. There is almost always seating from what I could tell by visiting and walking by. I highly recommend the desserts here. The bread pudding was my favorite. I also enjoyed the banana foster cheesecake and the Nutella mousse. Each of which were one of my friends' favorites. The food, however, was good but didn't stand out. I'll have to try more of the menu when I go back. Service was good but I will say the restaurant needed a bit of care in terms of a couple of spots. I've had better. - Dessert was okay. Both chocolate and carrot cake tasted like they had just been defrosted and served. Chocolate was still a bit frozen and dry. Carrot cake wasn't bad. The icing kept it more moist. Would definitely pick the carrot cake over the chocolate. Place: pretty restaurant with outdoor patio and indoor seating. Patio had large umbrellas and heaters. Not too noisy. Overall a nice atmosphere to eat in. Overall: would consider eating here again if I tried all new dishes. I always get invited by others to the daily because they love it so much and I'm always hoping that it'll get better. I just have not understood the hype and not really enjoyed the food each time I've gone. I will say that do have great service and the restaurant is cute and a good atmosphere. But the food is just sub par. On my most recent visit the sandwich I ordered was mostly burnt bread with a sliver of the fillings inside. This place never ever disappoints! I love that the menu comprises of so many different dishes, there is something there for everyone. Below is the avocado bagel. It was delicious, reasonably priced and filling - for any of those speculators of foods topped with micro greens, which DO, by the way, actually add more flavor to the bagel as a whole. The food took a while to arrive, which was to be expected, but I had a sad moment when I discovered that my poached eggs were fully cooked through. There are 3 possibilities: it's a practical joke they're secretly recording conversations and videos of so they can one day post on YouTube in the hopes of going viral... searching reviews for "veggie burger" this has been going on for over 6 years and there are others who can describe this loose assemblage of nuts and vegan paste they call a burger; the chef and/or owner has really mm, unique... tastes and won't hear any criticisms and address them; or finally: the chef hates vegetarians and wants to punish us. So why 3 stars? The reason we stopped in is because of how it looked from the outside. The lit-up tree branches look great - it's just a great general ambiance. The buffalo cauliflower was quite good. Nice, spicy buffalo sauce, and the cauliflower was cooked well. The fries and sweet potato fries were also good. Service was okay. We had to get someone's attention to get silverware (as did other tables around us we noticed) after our appetizer arrived. Besides, the place was packed, so I simply can't accept that other main items are even nearly as bad as the veggie burger, so I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt. Great spot to stop and eat in Carytown! The thing that first comes to my mind when I think of the Daily is fresh - the food is so bright and colorful that you can tell it is fresh and natural. The atmosphere is great; it is in a popular location in Carytown but has lots of outdoor seating, and the inside is also bright and updated. The food here is also delicious. We came for breakfast on a Saturday morning and everything was amazing, we had pancakes, omelettes, and sandwiches. The fruit was fresh and potatoes were great as well. This location has so many options for vegetarian and gluten-free dining and makes the process really easy. There were 2 people with us that have Celiac - sometimes finding a menu with gf-variety can be difficult and there are some places that just don't get 'it' with gluten allergies and cross contamination. That was not the case here and there was never any concern. Will definitely return and would recommend this restaurant to anyone but especially those with dietary restrictions. read more
