The service here is great. Typical Mexican restaurant ambience. The food? I am getting angrier and angrier as I leave that my husband didn't let me tell management how horrific it was. The salsa is like lesser than Dollar General tomato sauce with a chunk or two of tomato and dashes of hot sauce. Stale bagged tortilla chips. I get there will be gristle in a steak bite here or there, but I had to spit out every single bite. We intended to split a steak fajita dish, but got charged for "fajitas for two". Didn't say anything because the server was very sweet, and maybe I can make omelettes in the morning with the left overs for my kids who haven't developed a palate. I am just appalled and would NOT recommend. The best part of our one and only RARE date night having to have randomly come to Gray is that we just joked on the restaurant all dinner through. It's been three years since my last review of Agave Azul; and I'm happy to say that, some things never change; and that's a good thing. Way back in the day, when Agave Azul was brand new to Gray, it became the third of three mexican food places in town. Since then, one of those three has gone (in fairness, another has taken its place) but Agave Azul remains, with good reason. As with my last review, I had the house special ( yes, I have eaten other things here. Most notably the remnants of my younger daughter's beef burrito grande. Although we both give it five stars, my daughter once had eyes bigger than her stomach, prompting my timely intervention. But, now to the point). If you had't read my prior review, the house special starts with seasoned rice base, topped with firm and flavorful red an green sweet peppers (If mexican food MUST be spicy to you, the menu is filled other items you'll be sure to enjoy. The salsa that is served with complementary tortilla chips, before your meal arrives, may be enough to satisfy you, for that matter) carneasada steak , and (my favorite) equally seasoned, thick and tasty, shrimp. Holding this all together is a savory white cheese sause (also available for your aforementioned tortilla chips, if you choose). If you want great mexican food in Gray, you want Agave Azul. However, if you want ambiance, well, it's not the most romantic place to bring a first date. But, once you're going steady, the pizza palor, family friendly, atmosphere, with its Town of Gray centric murals, make for a welcoming presence in town, that you'll return to again an again, as I have. read more

Just wanted to give a huge shout out to Agave Azul Gray Ga. For a 2nd year we ordered a taco bar for our family Christmas celebration. The food was excellent, service was great and all we had to do was pick up and uncover giving me more time to spend with family instead of preparing food, etc. read more

I have to give it 3 stars....... if it were just for the food I would give it 5 stars. Its always the service. I always get the half special either chicken or beef they are both wonderful.. Great decor bright colors its like being in Tijuana... Last couple of trips in a couple of staff were sitting around chatting.Not eating not filling napkin holders just chatting. I think break areas need to be in the back when orders are a little slow you wanna say hey can you check on my order??? Staff is a little young and kids need guidance.....I will continue to visit due to excellent food and sometimes service. read more

Agave , is amazing !! The staff is young but don't let that fool you . They know there stuff. Smiling faces and genuine hearts. The food is so good we go usually on Tuesday's . I recommend agave salad . Yummy, the little one loves his three beef tacos , same as my 17 year old unless get nachos like dad. No matter what you order you will have fresh hot delicious food . Never again. They gave my Mom the salad and overcharged her for it last time, so they gave her a free one this time. Fine. They forgot my guacamole, my burritos tasted disgusting. It was just filled with beans and rice. You pay $20 for 1burrito, you kind of expected to have some steak in it. The steak was tough. We spent $83 on food tonight. Everything was just bad. Mama and I had lunch here today. We've been here a couple of times before and had the taco bar which is excellent. Today we ordered off the menu. We have been here twice now . Last time the food was great but the service was HORRIBLE. We decided to try one more time hoping for a better experience. This time the food was awful and it took over an hour to come out. The restaurant was not busy at all and we had 2 quesadillas come to our table (after an hour of waiting) that weren't even melted . And had shredded cheese on the inside still. I also ordered chorizo nachos and the chorizo was so unseasoned that I thought it was beef until I asked to make sure it was chorizo. read more

5 stars for the food! It was delicious, fresh, and piping hot! Prices are decent, they have little gumball machines with toys/stickers/candy for kids, which mine loved! The only downside was the waitress... She wasn't horrible, I am just guessing she is young and new... She stood there and waited for both parties to fill out their receipts because she didn't want to lose her pens I guess; but you can't hover over a table while they are deciding on a tip, etc, it's just not good manners. This is a great Mexican restaurant for our small town. The Fajitas are always a good selection. The salsa is fresh and delicious. They are always busy and sometimes run out of staples, like Tecate. It's hard for them to accommodate large groups due to staffing. Overall, it's a great place to eat. Big groups should call ahead. read more

Agave Azul is a small, family-owned Mexican restaurant in Gray, GA. The service is excellent, and the menu includes many dishes not typically seen at other small-town Mexican restaurants. The family that runs the business is very friendly. The restaurant is fairly large, and can easily accommodate large groups. I have been there twice recently with groups and everything was great. Last night, I walked in and placed a carry out order. I had pointed to the dinner i wanted so assumed that the young lady got it right. I went to the store next door while waiting for my order to be completed and once it was done i brought it home without checking....my mistake. One poblano pepper, no tortillas for the pollo loco (also no cheese on it) I drove back to the restaurant with my receipt and a young man (later found out was management) brought me back out one pepper and the tortillas. When asked about the one pepper he stated i needed to tell them what i wanted, that its either one or two peppers. I asked the young girl who placed my order if what i had pointed to was what i got... and she said no, she had rung it up incorrectly so she said to make it right she ordered the pepper and rice and beans AND PAID FOR IT HERSELF. The "manager" relied good ?!?!?! No comp for the server...make her pay for her mistake? Out of a meager pay? This manager truly needs managing lessons. He argued with me, told me i didn't order correctly, came out of the kitchen complaining loudly that he had to fix my order, never once apologized, told me that the customer is not always right...i could go on but none of those attributes are of anyone i would want representing my company in a management position. The kicker...one girl kept apologizing. I told her it was not her fault that her manager is a jerk.....she said i know, he treats us like that too. I had brought the one pepper to my car and came back in and heard him on the phone with the owner. He would let me speak with her. Last time i will EVER return to this restaurant.
