Great place for pics and cocktails, but skip the food. We dined on a Sunday night and it was quite busy. The decor is beautiful, especially the bar. Our server was great, she didn't hover but checked in often. Food: We had the street corn dip (4/10), dip trio (4/10, the queso was good), chicken enchiladas (3/10, they came with flour tortillas which got soft and mushy), and the loaded burritos with barbacoa (5//10, it was loaded, it was also cold throughout) sent it back and the platter was hot but it was still barely lukewarm. Didn't eat the burrito at all and was still charged. Requested the manager and he took $20 off, though the burrito was $28. After some sightseeing and shopping on a humid day we wanted a snack and a drink. This spot was recommended by one of the shop owners. Felt like a Sports Bar with a couple of giant screens showing games of the day-Baseball. Plenty of outdoor seating although everyone was inside. Lucky for us it was Margarita Monday. $8 glass and $25 for a pitcher. We went with a pitcher of their house Margarita on the rocks-tasty. Our server recommended the Wings over the Agave Jalapeño. Boneless Wings didn't disappoint although the mango habanero sauce was a bit too sweet for us-good we got it on the side. Buffalo sauce was much better. Their civichi was probably the best I've ever had and I live pretty close to the Mexican border, just outside LA. Yum! I took Maria's recommendation and had the veggie bowl, and added chicken for the best of both worlds! Who knew I needed sweet potatoes in my Mexican bowl?? I ordered it both nights. Horrible service, we had a reservation to celebrate a birthday and were not even greeted by a server for over 30 mins, waited so long we had to go to the bar to get our drinks. She finally came back 15 mins later and took our order. The food was good, but very small portions for the price. We waited another 20 minutes after we finished eating for her to come back and check on us and offer us boxes and dessert. Thanks to our sever Schivon, we had a great experience at Agave. After a hot tiring walk around the mall, we stumbled upon this restaurant. We got seated and served very quickly. I recommend the tacos, salads, and quesadillas for the kids. You can sure get your moneys worth on these items. I would have had a margarita but we had a flight later that evening. Came here for our first dinner in St Thomas and it did not disappoint. We are big fans of Mexican food and this was some of the best! The carne asada is to die for! As well as the elote dip, queso, and their house made salsa. We loved the fish tacos and ceviche too. The drinks are also really good. Service is good, and the food came out pretty quick. Jovi was wonderful and helped make our night special. A good amount of seating and a decent amount of parking in the shopping center attached. If they're going to charge you 18% service fee, they should at least pick up your appetizer plates and offer you a drink or refill midway through your meal. They did neither. I had to hunt down the waitress just to get a refill of a Diet Coke. The look on her face is like she felt bothered that I asked her for anything. No plates were ever picked up during the whole meal. When I first looked at the menu when I came in, I was thinking of getting a dessert. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to get one because it wouldn't fit on the table because it was full of plates. The food was decent so I cannot complain about the cooks. The food came out at a decent time so cannot complain about that however, our waitress was one lazy waitress. Firstly, we chose this place because of the high rating but we were extremely disappointed. We made a reservation and upon arriving, the hostess looked at us like she was confused and said it would be a few before she could seat us. But we had a reservation and there were several open tables? She then comes back, looks in the computer and says, "oh, you have a reservation"..... Yes, that's what we said when we came in. In any event, she sat us at a table with 2 less chairs than we needed so we pulled 2 chairs over from another table. The hostess needs some work. Our waitress was fine but the food was marginal at best but most importantly, we noticed the manager going around to tables checking to see how things were. Every table but ours. He even came by the table next to ours twice after it had turned over to ask them how their meal was; but never came to ours. I'm saying all of this to say, yes the food is important, and it was just ok, but the service is what keeps people coming back and the service was lacking from jump. Why didn't the manager ask us how our meals were? There were 7 of us so you could not miss us. Was it our skin tone? I would hope not as most of the staff were people of color. I'm not sure of the reason but I am sure that we will never return to this spot when we come back to St. Thomas. Do better fam. read more

So we made an online reservation for 8 people (half children) about an hour or so ahead of time. We checked in right on time and they said it would be about an hour wait even with the res. That being said, they scrambled and we were sitting within 10 minutes, everybody happy. Service was friendly, albeit a bit slow (island time baby). They have a kids menu which was very helpful and not as common on the island as you might hope. I tried ordering a Michelelada since nothing goes better with Mexican food. The server had no idea what I was talking about and they didn't have the ingredients anyways (no worries of course just was hoping!) When the food came it all looked amazing... but my plate was missing. They noticed right away and got to work fixing the situation by rushing my order. Owner/manager came over to apologize (again, no complaints I get it things get crazy in the kitchen). Next thing I know the server brings me a michelada as an apology and informs me the owner ran to the store to get the ingredients for my favorite drink. What an epic experience to make me feel special. Food was better than most Mexican spots back home and I'm from Southern California so that means a lot. Amazing food, for real. There were plenty of empty tables but we were seated right next to the door and the adjacent table was being used by the staff to wrap utensils in napkins, etc. Our waiter came over and told us it was Happy Hour. When we asked what that entailed the person wrapping napkins said Happy Hour ended 5 minutes ago. Too bad for us - they should have honored the Happy Hour offers and prices. We ordered a pitcher of margaritas and it was undrinkable! The food was OK but nothing special. Throughout the entire dining experience my impression of the waiter was that he was stoned. Amazing food! Looked like a bar with some grub, but ended up being the best meal we had on the island all week. I ordered the chicken enchilada with verde sauce and it was very scrumptious. The flavors exploded in my mouth without being too spicey or salty. Just right with lots of flavor. I don't typically like black beans but the way the lime rice blended with the beans and salad, salsa it was the perfect balance. Wife and kids had the steak tacos and loved them as well.
