I was ordering a taco salad and they were going to charge me 0.99 for the salad dressing and refused to substitute ranch for sour cream. Very disappointing. Had lunch with a friend and sat in the bar. This was a Tuesday 1:00ish. A table of 3 employees who were not working at the time were sitting behind us and talking about other employees. Swearing and bashing them. They were talking so loud my friend and I couldn't talk or hear each other. The service and food were great! I just find it hard that an employee that was working couldn't sed or hear what was going on and ask them to quiet it down or move since we were paying patrons. Just so sad ppl act this way. I've had a lot of Mexican food in my life LA to Dallas to Phoenix and all points in between. I walked into this place, clean and friendly wait staff. I ordered a taco salad, pretty standard in Mexican restaurants in America. When the salad was brought to me it was barely the size of my hand. Virtually no lettuce and tasteless unseasoned beef. The shell was crispy and fresh. I did like the warm chips. But the taco salad is a joke and I would not recommend it to anyone Two inexpensive items would have made this a different review. This is one of the best Mexican restaurant I have ate in town. The best plate I have ate so far is the potato fajita. Me and my husband always get the double one and share it. It is nice and cheesy and hot! The service at agaves is great! Everyone is friendly. I will continue to come back and eat there. Best Margaritas in town!! Agaves showed up and showed out!!! They made Cancun step their game up. I accidentally drank a pitcher of frozen margs by myself and I was sloshed! Food is decent. Service is friendly but incompetent. It took 20 minutes and 5 requests to get a spoon. Why don't they just include a spoon with the knife and fork? If they aren't going to include a spoon, they should teach the waiters what "spoon" means. It also took several requests to get an extra order of beans and rice. They all appeared to speak english as long as I was pointing at the menu, but as soon as I asked a question the server would get a blank look on his face. We would try pantomime and then he would go to summon the lone english-speaker, who would translate. The food was OK but not good enough to overcome the terrible service. read more

Stopped in here yesterday (Sunday) afternoon for lunch. It was not very busy but perhaps it's not well known they have opened. We were seated right away. The setup is your usual Mexican restaurant setup with chips and salsa provided prior to ordering. Their chips are not the best but I've not found many places that have what I would consider good chips (although that doesn't ever keep me from mindlessly consuming them). I had the Burrito Tapatio which sounded interesting as it includes grilled pineapple which I've never had on a burrito before. I will be having it again, and since Agaves is on my way home from work I will probably be having it often. It was fantastic. The service was congenial but a bit on the slow side and we had to ask for utensils. But they are probably still working out the kinks as they haven't been open all that long.
