Quick stop for lunch before teaching class lead me to this Mexican restaurant with a unique name. I was greeted by a friendly gentlemen who lead me to a booth by the front window. Immediately upon sitting a young lady brought me tortilla chips and salsa for a starter. I ordered the Carne asada with onions, rice black beans and jalapeño. The food is really good. Party of 4 and everyone loved their dish . We were all disappointed in the margaritas. Served in a plastic cup and tastes like a cheap overly sweet mix. With Mexican food this good you would expect a good margarita to match. It's a shame because when you want Mexican you expect a great margarita. It's a shame. Since their food truck at Ellis Park Racetrack isn't on YELP, I'm reviewing it here. I can't pass up the opportunity to rave about the Carnitas Street Tacos. One of the best I've had. A generous amount of succulent pork, owing to the secret ingredient, pork belly. But you didn't here it from me. Man, I wish there was a Tacaholics where I live! The tacos are super flavorful and loaded. The service was friendly and the food came out fast. One of our favorite reasons to drive over the bridge from Evansville. Love their homemade hot salsa-ask for it, you won't be disappointed. I usually get the steak street tacos - I always think I am going to try something else, but I love them so much I hate not to get them. Chips and salsa are good. I have been eating here ever since they open up. At first everything is great but service went downhill since then. I barely get refills when I come into eat. I have to hunt someone down to get a refill. I'm to to the point not to come on Saturdays anymore cause they get so packed and servers could careless if you need a refill. Their new pasta bowl is really watery. If they are going to sell it they need to drain the noodles which I have asked last time I was in there. It was so bad I had to get a pollo playa. The pollo playa is one of better dishes. What's the worse part is when me and husband both say we don't want salad on our dish but we still get it. I know it's difficult when it's hard to understand English, but I don't know why it's so hard to get our plate right. I do not recommend coming on Saturdays during lunch. A lot of food for your money! I got the 2 Gordita combo with rice & beans. I was expecting something the size of a taco but I got something more the size of a hamburger. I ordered 4 hard shell tacos to carry out and asked how much they were. I was told $2.25 apiece for a total of $9.00. They asked if I wanted cheese, lettuce and tomatoes and I said sure. My tacos were brought out and they had very little of any of the toppings. I got my bill and paid it with a tip and I then realized I was charged a total of $14.00. I asked about the $5.00 discrepancy and I was told it was for the tomatoes. $1.25 per taco for a couple of dices of tomato? They should tell you beforehand that tomatoes are extra and I would hate to see how much they cost when they are not in season. I should have asked for my tip back. No mas. read more
