TERRIBLE FOOD. WORST SERVICE. FIRST, the waitress could barely speak English. My order was slightly different from the menu options and communication was extremely difficult. As a direct result, the order was incorrect. SECONDLY, though the food came fast, I could see, smell, and taste why. There was no sizzle to the fajitas. It was as if they just had some meat lying around in an oven. There was no freshness to it. It was actually quite nasty as compared to other Mexican restaurants! LASTLY, at the end of our meal, the waitress ordered my dining companion to give her one of the plates for her to take away. She requested him to do her job rather than simply waiting until we left to begin clearing the table. The restaurant was nearly empty so there was no need for such rush and rudeness. We stopped in for supper tonight and it was excellent. We did not have to wait to be seated, the waitress came over right away and took our drink orders. There was not much of a wait after we placed our food order(10 minutes tops), the food was excellent(better than Haccendia or Los Bravos), it was hot and delicious! The staff was so polite and friendly. Definitely got your moneys worth, will not leave here hungry. Definitely will be going back!! read more

My coworker ordered a shrimp loco. The waitress could barely speak English and did not know how to answer that a shrimp loco is not on the menu. His plate came out with 6 pieces of shrimp with rice and salad. I ordered steak and chicken fajitas. The portion was fairly large but came out with ONLY chicken. The service at Cancun went down after many years of going in to eat there. What really upset me is on Saturdays they get really busy and when I came in they was not they busy at all. I told them I have two surprise birthdays. I have to remind them after they got busy. Sadly they came out and said look sorry we are too busy to sing for you, but here's your ice cream. It's sad that you have to refill your own drink cause the servers can't fill it up for you. I remember one time I went in there the server gave me a whole pitcher at the table cause we drink a lot. The servers there are really lazy. I used to work through Mexican restaurants and no matter how busy I am I take the time to see my customers. I don't plan on coming back during lunch time as the service is the worst there. I would not recommend eating there at lunch time on Saturdays. read more

This place is an "ok" Mexican restaurant. I travel and eat at many of them. This place isn the best but also isn the worst.. I took a take-out order. I got the Chile Verde. (Carnutas with green salsa) Came with beans, rice and 2 Salas and Chips. Rice was very watery. The chile verde salsa that goes in the carnitas is very spicy! Beans are also "ok". Eat here only of u don't mind being disappointed a little. Like i said, I eat at a ton of Mexican restaurants and this place is basically a hit or miss for you! read more

We have been eating there for years and can't say enough good things about the food and service, and their $6 lunch specials! But today I was charged a fee (turns out to be 3.5%) for paying with a credit card. I thought only certain gas stations stooped low enough to do that. This used to be my favorite restaurant in Henderson. I came once a week from Owensboro with friends to eat here. The last time we went the food was horrible and the service was worse. The sour cream did not taste like sour cream at all. The chips had a strange plastic taste. My friends margarita tasted like line juice. And the waitress was a complete bitch to all of us. We left and will not be back. I'm don't know what has changed, owners maybe? Whatever it is, it has gone severely downhill. read more

Everything seemed to be going great, as my family, and I ate at this restaurant, the food was good and reasonable, the service was ok, other than the fact our waiter had a hard time following directions, and the Decor was pretty good. We were heading home as we were just passing through heading home to Illinois. At 2:30am me and my mom both woke up with severe stomach pains and was very sick, my dad did not get sick. Cancun is the best sit-down Mexican food in Henderson, Kentucky, but that's not saying much when the competition is an overpriced chain and Taco Bell. I must preface this review by stating I've eaten here countless times. Cancun is in a prime location for people who live out in the sticks and just want some food. In that way, Cancun is as handy as a McDonalds, I guess. Depending on the time of day and which day of the week you attend, you might have a FANTASTIC time at Cancun. It really is a crapshoot whether you get a server who is on the ball about getting you refills, getting your food to you, and getting you the check. On my last visit I had an incredibly friendly waiter who was very good at keeping tabs on our table. The time before him, I saw our waiter maybe three times in the hour we spent in the restaurant. During particularly bad nights I've seen multiple customers stand up and refill their own drinks due to a server essentially abandoning them. The food is fine. The ground beef is lightly seasoned at best, it's obvious why most dishes that come with it automatically are drenched in cheese. The chicken can either be succulent or dry as the Mojave, there is no in-between. Nothing some cheese can't fix/smother. That being said, I can't really blame Cancun for their food. It's actually an ingenious tactic in an area filled with predominantly blue-collar clientele who, traditionally, consider no taco complete without a handful of sour cream and a spurt of hot sauce. Bland food with the "Mexican" idea placed on it is easy to shovel into one's mouth while listening to cheesy mariachi music, especially after having downed two or three cartoonishly large Margaritas. Your generic Joe the Plumber type will consider this a fine Mexican dining experience. I highly recommend the Pollo Playa. read more
