I have hired a number of personal trainers in the Danbury CT area over the last 15 years and my experiences have been from disgusted to helpful and good. Some trainers have put me on machines, count reps, while looking at their phone, and telling me to run on a cardio machine for 10 minutes to "warm up" amidst my paid session!....This is not acceptable when I am paying around $60/hr! Other trainers are more engaged, and had me use free weights which are a lot better than machines to burn calories. However, a few of these trainers pushed heavy weights on me which I DID NOT feel comfortable lifting at the risk of getting hurt! I have had a couple good trainers that got me in better cardio condition but I sadly never seemed to lose weight because they didn't talk to to me about my nutrition. I had a 45 minute in depth consultation with the coaches at TFW and then they evaluated by body composition with this fancy machine that even let me know my water weight. Then they explained everything and let me know what I need to improve on, how they can help through both training and especially nutrition and would re-evaluate me monthly to make sure my numbers are going in the right direction and I am happy with my results! I have been coming to TFW 4 days a week for the last 6-1/2 months and I have a training package(without contracts) that has me doing a 1on1 session with the owner Andreas & 3 1-hour group classes with his associate Debra. They both push me & motivate me safely to my potential and I always feel like I got a great workout feeling good and wasn't crushed above my means. The other clients in the groups are really nice, supportive people that I have gotten to know personally and can call them my friends. A great friendly environment where I feel like part of a family. Getting in shape before Pilates was always tiring, painful and monotonous. Pilates with Marta is just the opposite. The studio is such an inviting space. It is filled with light, providing an attractive, peaceful place to workout. It is also utterly immaculate. All the equipment necessary for a full Pure Pilates workout is available. For me it is a perfect environment. The heart of the Pilates studio is the teacher, Marta Ostro. She was taught by Joseph Pilates' protege Romana and her daughter Sari in NYC. Pilates is her calling and she is an extraordinary instructor. Marta's knowledge of Pilates as well as her understanding of the human body and how it works is remarkable. She is a patient and compassionate teacher. She is determined to teach you the skills that are needed for a healthier, stronger life. Marta's love for her vocation makes each lesson a calming and enjoyable experience. She has a wonderful energy and positivity that are infused into all her lessons. I first came to Marta 15 years ago after bilateral hip replacements. I couldn't walk without a limp or discomfort and I had zero energy. I was miserable. After training with Marta for a relatively short time, the limp and discomfort were nonexistent and my energy was back. As I continue my training with Marta I see changes in my whole body. Muscles are more defined, both my upper and lower body are toned, and my energy level is high. Pilates is a complete body workout. Marta continues to fine tune my skills and take me deeper into the techniques of Pilates . When I finish each session with Marta I feel great both mentally and physically. Marta makes exercise fun. Pilates makes my body happy.

Your "training" with Kelly will consist of reps and sets written on a dry erase board. Your warm up will consist of one of 3 machines (2 of which are stationary bikes) and if they are occupied you will be told to walk around the block, even it's raining, for a determined amount of time. If you decide to attend the 2 classes offered you probably want to bring your own yoga mat because there's only about 6 mats and 20+ students. If you're not losing weight it's probably your fault for not following the food app Kelly recommended even though she won't go over it with you or do regular weigh ins with you along the way. If you're not sure if you're doing something right don't keep asking Kelly, she gets annoyed and would much prefer to be on her phone or fix her hair in the mirror. This all being said SOME clients are part of the inner circle and hey, good for them because they get special privileges! I'm not sure how to break in to that so I decided to leave instead. When I confronted Kelly with my issues she was unapologetic and simply told me she disagreed. I got a little useless stretch and met lots of nice women. The studio is small and dark, easy to get to. New first time class members pay $12 then Classes are $17 per class or $65 unlimited for the month. However, Linda has a lot of opinions that you must agree with or prepare to be called out. She went off on a rant about how 'all women should be working and women should have their own money.' She then followed saying, 'i would be embarrassed to ask my husband for ten dollars for Dunkin coffee' I knew the comment was directed towards me because upon meeting her she was interested to know about my job and I explained how I left mine to help my husband run his business and be home to start a family. She immediately was concerned with why I wasn't working outside my home. When i confronted her about it after class, she made gave me the dismissive comment of 'sorry you took it personal'. It was personal, i'm not an idiot. The yoga itself was kind of a joke. We sat the entire time. It seemed more like a therapy session rather than yoga. I barely got a work out. I have gone to other prenatal Yoga classes which left my body much more stretched and was more beneficial for my body. if you do decide to come make sure you have your resume ready! Much of the class conversation was about being a working mom. I applaud others for their career choices but would appreciate a little respect when speaking about my own. My husband and i are a team and we do not look at finances like that. I am a well educated woman with two college degrees. It's unfortunate because as an adult I feel like i can respect other people whose values are different than mine but not all adults are capable of such maturity.
