This is perfect if you just want a quick eat to takeout or if you're sitting in like I normally do, wait a bit for your food while you get the different salsas they offer to eat with it. I've enjoyed every single dish I've gotten at Agua Verde. I usually get their tacos! With each dish you get a choice of nachos or beans and rice to eat with it. I'm more of a nacho person so I always combine it with whatever I get here! I think that the servers weren't quite ready for the influx of people at this time. You order at the counter and then they will seat you. They had a table for our group right in the corner in the covered porch area. They had plenty of windows, so we still felt like we were right on the water without actually sitting outside. The seating is a bit cramped, and they are a no frills establishment: get your own water, get your own utensils, get your own salsa from the salsa bar (but I couldn't actually get out of my seat because it was so crammed). I got the fried fish tacos. I appreciated that they used black cod, as I'm a huge fan of this fish! It's a higher fat fish, so it still stays tender and flaky, and really difficult to make it dry. This was no exception - fish was flaky and tender...but small! Tiny morsel of fish. I had pieces of tortilla without fish. Like half a tortilla that was fishless. Great ambiance and the staff was very friendly! Upon walking in, you'll order at the register first and they'll bring your food to your table. We sat by the windows on a sunny day and it got hot very quickly because there was no fan inside but had a great view. For food, we ordered ensalada picarita with shrimp and veggie boniato burrito. My wife and I went around 2 o'clock on Saturday, it was pretty busy for that time but we didn't have to wait for a seat. Parking is across the street for the restraint during non normal business hours, we didn't see anywhere to park if it we went during the week. We also got the last spot and had to wait a minute. You order at the register when you walk in, pay, then they bring you your food, you get your own water, utensils, sauces etc. Very speedy service, basically "fast food", we had our drinks quickly, and food was out in about 5 minutes. Nice patio in the back overlooking the water with the heaters leaving no toe cold. Food was decent, on the pricier side than we had anticipated for a place that you order and pay with no service. Last 2 times here have been a miss so I think has gone downhill recently. Did a pick up order today of the carnitas and Baja tacos and both were bad, the carnitas was so dry it was inedible, and fish was grey and old tasting. The carnitas was truly shockingly bad, really leathery tough meat with some fat globules mixed in. Would not recommend takeout from here, overpriced for bad food. Couldn't have asked for a more perfect setting for our last meal in Seattle before heading to the airport. The restaurant is on the water next to the UW campus. Ended up going here randomly as we wanted to go to another restaurant but the wait ended up being longer than any of us expected. This place had no wait but was pretty popping, we ended up sitting in their indoor outdoor area. It was really nice and pretty but a little cold for me (maybe bc I had just finished a run in January tho). The service was really nice and friendly and the food was a lot better than I expected from some random place we picked on the street. The hot chocolate was nice and rich and tasted better than packet hot chocolate and they put some sort of flavoring like cinnamon or something on the top which was a nice tough. I also thought the Baja tacos were really really good, nice and refreshing and I liked the avocado which made it nice and filling, very well rounded. If I could give 3.5 stars, I would. The food is a bit pricey for what it is but was very fresh & well made. While the guac was super fresh tasting, it was $13 for that plus chips which seemed excessive. I ordered a chicken quesadilla not realizing the chicken would come on the side. While the chicken had a great flavor, it was a little awkward to eat it with the quesadilla that way. The quesadilla was larger than I expected and was very yummy. However, we also ordered a cheese quesadilla for our toddler. There wasn't a kids menu so she got the same sized portion as me. Unfortunately for us, she wasn't very hungry so it went to waste since we couldn't bring it back to our hotel. The lemonade I ordered was a bit tart. Which wasn't my favorite. Overall, the food was good. But the space is pretty small. The tables overlooking the water were packed together pretty tight & it looked like people were uncomfortably close to other parties. You first order at the counter and pay. Then, you pick any seat and the waitstaff bring your food to you. Other than that, there isn't much service, as you grab utensils, water, and everything else yourself. I ordered the braised beef as a bowl rather than a burrito. The bowl itself had beef, rice, guacamole, avocado salsa, onions, and lettuce. I chose to have my beans on the side. Portions are really large! I couldn't finish my chips. The braised beef was really tender and flavorful. There was a big chunk of fat in it though that I couldn't eat. You can also add additional flavors with the 3 types of complimentary homemade salsas they have available. The two red ones are spicy, while the green one isn't. Came here with a friend this past Sunday as we waited for a pop up to open down the street. I thought I was order light but ended up being to full to eat my pop up food. I'm not complaining... My friend ordered the butternut squash enchiladas. I had a cup of the pozole rojo and the kabocha chalupa off of the appetizer menu. The pesole was deceivingly filling for how it looked. The chalupa was small but packed with flavor. The pozole was so comforting and was packed with goodies generous serving for a cup. The freshness of the avocado and cilantro help brighten the richness of the soup. Had a bite of my friend's enchilada was a little too sweet for my taste but still was tasty and generous portion. Up until recently they had pretty much had a monopoly over the area, and I'm sure the rent is a pretty penny. There's nothing wrong with the food, it's just on the pricey side for what it is and the amount that they give you. For example, 13 bucks for an 8oz (at most) margarita, however tasty, is a little much imo. They have covered indoor seating, covered outdoor seating, and fully open outdoor seating (in addition to a take out window). Salsa bar (and silverware/water/napkins) is self serve. This outdoor cafe is super cute and they make their food from the food truck in the back. The weather was PERFECT for outdoor seating. Very rare weather in Seattle but I can't complain when it's 80 degrees out and sunny. There is a self-service table where you grab your own salsas and utensils/napkins. We ordered the chips & salsa and I got the Mangoilla with chicken (which is a quesadilla with mango, poblano peppers, green onions, and chicken). It was very delicious, the portion is kinda huge and I was only able to finish half. I took the leftover home and it was still delicious the next day when I re-heated in the toaster oven. I ordered the veggie hongo and shared it with my husband. Both of us loved this dish. Came for their 25th anniversary celebration of a 90-minute AYCE experience for $25. Had to opportunity to try items off the menu that was specially catered for the event. Our tickets were for the 5:30 PM time slot on Saturday. We were astonished to find a line of people waiting to be seated for regular dining the entire time of our stay, even more so at 7 PM. The restaurant is large too, spanning two floors with a balcony up top and an outdoor patio down by the waterside. The fiesta took place at the patio with an evening DJ. Even at a lower elevation the spot offered a pleasant scenery of the Portage Bay. Many of the items were made-to-order and had an adobo-marinated pork being roasted on a spit. Aperitivos had the classic Basket of Chips & Housemade Salsa and Guacamole & Chips. The two special appetizers - potato-filled Tacos Dorados and Tuna Ceviche Tostada - were surprisingly good. Quesadillas were the Corn Masa Quesadillas and Quesadillas Con Hongos, which I thought were standard with a preference for the mushroom stuffed one. Same for the Enchiladas that was Pollo Suizas. Tacos De La Casa were Pork Al Pastor, Traditional Carnitas, Tinga de Pollo, and Hongo. The Pork Al Pastor had cuts from the spit-roasted pork that was juicy and flavorful. The Traditional Carnitas was Michoacan-style that had whole pig ears fried then sliced along with other parts like pork tongue, and was also tasty. Dessert was Horchata Ice Cream made with rice, almonds, and cinnamon. It incorporated whole grains of rice that gave a nice chewy texture.
