This place is right across the street from the top of Avenida 5, so it's a great place to watch both locals and tourists. Sat down to try some of the sipping chocolate. Sis ordered the Mayan chocolate which has a smidge of spice and a hint of orange and it was delicious. I got the regular one with vanilla. Unfortunately because of the language barrier, the server handed us regular hot chocolates instead of the sipping ones so that was a bummer, but we have an excuse to try it next time. They have a lot of cool seating and booths in the back, but the front patio is a vibe. Will definitely be back to enjoy the scene. read more

We were wandering the walking street when we found this adorable coffee shop and went on in and I got a chocolate croissant and my friend got a ham and cheese croissant with lattes. I then shopped around and they have a bunch of wonderful chocolate and cacao products on the walls and refrigerators. We sat in the back and a comfy spot for a good hour and just enjoyed ourselves. Every time I visit the playa, I always stop by, this place has a reassuring feel to it - something familiar in the sea of unfamiliar. Why you ask? I actually don't know! I think it's because my first experience here a few years ago was good, and every subsequent one has been as well. This is place is priced like a US cafe, so don't expect cheap souvenirs. I always get the Mexican hot choc bar, which tastes delicious melted in warm milk back home. I like their choc body products too, make for great gifts to take back home. I ordered the iced mocha and iced coffee late, and they were both terrific! They use actual cocoa and not the syrup. I haven't yet been able to find something like it in the states since my return. What an awesome little cafe. I don't do coffee but I do like chocolate cake and they have the best. We normally stop every night on the way back to our hotel to grab a piece. They keep it refrigerated so it's cold and firm. The perfect chocolate cake. Is is located right in the heart of town and there is a few more spread out around. This time I also tried the carrot cake, chocolate covered coffee beans and a couple fruit smoothies. All were delicious. The people working there are always so polite and helpful. I am sure their coffee must be good because the place is always busy. I took the chocolate covered coffee beans back to the room and ate them with a banana. Amazing. Give them a try. read more

I came here multiple times during my vacation, and was able to sample a variety of items from the menu. Iced Mocha w/ Almond Milk: Simple and satisfying. I was surprised they offered a variety of milk substitutes, which made me branch out from my typical black coffee to try something different. But, I also tried their black coffee one morning, which was also delicious! Mayan Chocolate Ice Cream: Yum! The espresso was full of flavor and smooth, and the latte topped with a quintessential foam heart. The honey offered to top off the drink is delightful and worth a try! My friends tried the spinach tamale, croissants, and croissant sandwich- all of which received high reviews for full flavor (tamale), great light flakiness (croissants), and delicious ham and cheese (sandwich). This will likely become a most welcomed staple in our trip. Of particularly note are the energy bars that they have at the front- they are delicious and not full of sugar but rather full of flavor and quite nutritious! This was our favourite coffee spot in Playa. The lattes were decent, staff was friendly, and there was free wifi. (The ice cream looked delicious- Im sorry we never got to try it.)
