Surprisingly, although we were there on a Friday night, we were the only patrons throughout our meal. According to a member of the staff (possibly the chef?), the establishment had been running as a carry-out-only operation for some time, due to difficulties finding waitstaff. A great pity, as there were a good number of very pleasant seating options, and our server was quite friendly and accommodating. Next, the service: as the only diners in the place, we got full attention. Food came out soon enough. And as for said food: very nice. I ordered the lamb, which came with rice. The co-diner got a red lentil dumpling, in a cashew cream sauce. Both entrees were very well prepared, and (in my case) in a sufficiently large quantity that I took some home. We ordered naan, which was fluffy and very tasty. We were happy to have leftovers to take with us. All in all, we were glad to discover Basil Indian Bistro, and look forward to our next visit.

It's a bit slow. The chili fries are yummy, spicy. The chicken kafta is dry, still very fragrant and flavorful. It's better with the cilantro chutney and the yogurt sauce makes it more palatable as well. The gobi chili is okay, the chili sauce with the fries is what we expected the gobi chili to taste like, it's different here, still not too bad. The rice isn't my favorite, it's small grain, not the basmati rice I was expecting. It seems dry and almost disintegrates upon adding the tadka Dahl to it. The potato and pea masala is really good. A small portion comes with the dosa masala. The tadka Dahl is runny and the lentils are pulverized to bits, it has more of a soup consistency to it. The dosa is very crispy, maybe too crispy for me. The dosa is good with the mango chutney. The Chana masala was ok. Not quite the flavoring I was expecting or hoping for though. The service here is good, just slow to get the food out. The chili fries were the best out of everything we ordered tonight. They could use this seasoning on the gobi and it would make it so much better.

I'm glad I did. They have surprisingly helpful descriptions of their offerings online that the onsite menus lack. If you are confused or intimidated by Indian cuisine but have a strong desire to learn more like I do, their website menu is a good resource. While I've managed to struggle my way through ordering dine-in meals here twice with assistance from courteous and patient servers, I have managed to try the Lemon and Cilantro Soup, Garlic Naan, Chilly Garlic Chicken appetizer, the Shrimp Tikka Masala, Butter Chicken Masala, and Lamb Biryanis. All were amazing and I would gladly get any of them again. This restaurant has a thriving takeout operation and only a few tables in a small dining area better suited to smaller parties. I still prefer dining in, though, as food this good deserves to be enjoyed fresh onsite.

No frills, but amazing food and service! The ladies are so kind. The food is ridiculously good. Flavors on point! The methi chatum is similar to saag paneer or palaak paneer. The butter chicken is so good. Don't forget the garlic naan. I got some to go with my leftovers. Portions are large and prices are reasonable. Such a great find!

Paper towel dispenser is not working either. Ordered two lentil soup (medium and spicy), Chana masala, butter chicken, veggie korma and Dharka Tal, all medium and a garlic chicken. $72.54 They charged us for Kirkland brand Alkaline water. The lentil soup is spicy, even for medium. It's tasty. I like the cilantro. Butter chicken, Chana masala and the Dharka Tal were good. The veggie korma was okay, some green beans that didn't work for this dish for me. The man behind the counter asked my husband if everything was okay after we got our soup. He asked my husband again how everything is after we got all of our main entrees. I forget that my opinion doesn't tend to matter at Indian restaurants at all. This is the second time in a month at an Indian restaurant that staff only asked my husband. The younger staffer asked us both how the spice level was and if we wanted any dessert. He looked us both in the eye too. He took our order and brought out our food to us. It's a shame that the more mature guy has no clue that I am the one that tends to pay the dinner bills out.

It made my taste buds sing with a joy only Indian food can provide. I have eaten plenty of Indian food and this place is the real deal. I loved the black pepper chicken and the hakka was probably the best I have ever had. The smoke from the hot wok was captured right into the noodles. Incredible. Very clean and excellent service. Service: if I was basing the review off of service it would be a one star. Because not only was it slow, it almost felt non existent. I came here with my parents and we would've ordered more if we could get a server to our table. It's not even that big of a place, but the servers hung out by the reception area and weren't even looking up. We had to wait a while for drinks, then wait another while to order. There are a ton of other Indian restaurants that are so much more attentive, even if it's crowded, which this place was not. Ambiance: feels like they tried to be upscale, unnecessary in my opinion. Just serve good food and make sure your servers are paying attention and that's more than enough. It's not a spot I would come back to.
