My first time trying Pakistani food and I am impressed wowww. I didn't know what to order so I just decided to go with what I've heard about on the general internet. I got the chapli kabob and it is sooo good. It's essentially a beef patty seasoned with aromatic spices garnished with onions, cilantro, roasted tomato and lemon. I thought it would be small but it's actually a decent size portion. I also got the nihari which is probably the most widely known Pakistani dish. It's a beef stew that's really flavorful. It's kind of oily so you can just drain the oil. Food spice and salt level is not reliable. It has happened to me multiple times and I don't want to go to this restaurant again. I called to tell the owner about the salt level in food I picked up a couple of days ago and he started talking rudely saying why didn't you call that day or day after, why you calling now, why didn't you bring it back.....He did not even listen to what I was trying to say. My husband and I were craving authentic Pakistani food and this was suggested by a friend who is local and knows the area well. We had planned to dine in but upon arrival realized they are take out only for the time being - this was on us for not calling to check. The staff were nice and helpful. We ended up ordering chicken tikka and butter chicken, both of which were AMAZING!! They were very flavorful and made fresh. They were the right amount of spicy. The tandoori naan was incredible too and made fresh. The food really hit the spot and I foresee us getting takeout from here regularly. It seems that they're known for their Bihari kabob which we didn't get, but will plan to next time! It also seems they do halwa puri on weekends, which I'm pretty excited about! Also, their prices are unbelievable for the quality and quantity of food - moving here from the DMV area, I found them to pretty low! I have been here twice and attempted to come here multiple other times. They are randomly closed 2 to 3 times when thier hours show them open. The first time here the food was pretty decent but they couldn't make numerous items on the menu. The second visit it smelled like an electrical fire up front and food was not nearly as good. The pakora was burned and cooked in old oil. The naan was fairly burnt also. On both occasions there was crazy loud banging noise coming from the kitchen like some one repeatedly hitting a sync. For us between inconsistent hours, noise, food quality, and hit or miss if they can make what is on their menu, we won't waist time coming back. For all those people complaining about ambience, this is your typical Pakistani Dhaba style restaurant. Please don't come here expecting 5 star fancy restaurant vibe. For those who don't know what Dhaba is, It's a roadside low key restaurant in Pakistan/India serving affordable good desi food for locals. Also, ignore the constant loud noises coming from the kitchen, they are part of the experience m. Hence, come here keeping your expectations accordingly. Food is not the best ever but it is definitely better than the others in the area. It's a family run restaurant with everything made out of scratch. Service is great. You might feel neglected at times but once you get the waiter attention, they are there to provide best service. You have to keep it in mind that it is a family run Dhaba style restaurant with no additional army of waiters. I got Halwai puri. Paris were great. Flaky n crispy but soft at the same time n not loaded with oil. Perfect puri making is an art. Too dry or crispy or too soft n mushy don't work well. They can definitely improve their puri game by offering aloo bhaji and achar with it as well. I also got beef behari kabobs and they were on point! I will definitely return for more food. Authentic Pakistani food (to differentiate from Indian cuisine) that is prepared fresh, which can sometimes cause delays in serving. One of the few places in the Detroit area that serves Haleem and Nihari. The Chapli kebabs (beef) are also worth trying. Some of the vegetarian offerings are also good, for example, the palak paneer and daal. But the meat dishes are our favorites (afterall it is a Pakistani restaurant). It is now mostly a take-out place, so not a sit down place if you are trying to impress a date. So far, this is the best place I have tried in the metro Detroit area for authentic Pakistani food! My go-to is the Haleem here, spiced to perfection, and pairs well with their fresh naan. Nahari is decent, but not on the level you might find in other major cities like Chicago. Loved the Bihari kabobs from here as well. In a city saturated with indian food, Kabob and curry had become my go-to place when I am in the area. I am excited to try some of their weekend specials when I get a chance. I do think this place can really boom I'd they improve the interior, as well as the sub-par service. But those two things are not a deal breaker. read more

Exceptional Punjabi dhaba style restaurant. I come here when I'm in the mood for authentic, delicious Desi food. I'm a stickler for Indian/Pakistani food and have tried my fair share of restaurants in Oakland and Washtenaw Counties. With respect to other restaurants, this place is the best I've had. This is so far the only authentic Pakistani restuarant in the metro Detroit area. Not a venue if you are looking for ambience (I.e., you want to impress your date), but definitely "the" place if you are carving for authentic Pakistani food. They serve Haleem, nihari and other Pakistani dishes you are not going to find at other "desi" restaurants in the area. The chapapli kabab (beef) is excellent, but the chicken tikka boti will take you back to Lahore. My daughter's vegetarian favorites are the Paleek paneer and chole (Garbanzo beens cooked Lahori style), both are excellent vegetarian options (but then you don't go to a Pakistani restaurant for your vegetarian cravings). Just opposite Zayeqa, this is my alternative for good north indian/pakistani food. They have very good Biryani and appetizers(Kebabs). I always order the Chicken biryani, Chicken Tikka and Seekh Kebab which are quite delicious. The price is little higher compared to Zayeqa but it is totally worth it. read more

They Accept AMEX!! This would've been a 5 star..... if it was based solely on the food... but unfortunately there is a young associate working up front that wanted to be dishonest in terms of what forms of payment they accept. Let me elaborate, when i called to place a takeout order, the first question I asked was if they accept AMEX, the gentleman said absolutely, so I placed my order. Samosa, chana masala, and chicken Biryani. 20 minutes later I arrived and was greeted by a very nice young lady, she went back to retrieve my order. She came back out and rang my order up, i handed her my American Express card and she said that they don't accept that. Puzzled, I informed her that when I placed my order the gentleman had said they do accept. She stared at me for what seemed like several minutes.. lol.. then rolled her eyes and took the card.. WTF?? I thanked her for making an exception and took my food. So.. for the food... incredible.. I wont bore you with adjectives about the food.. its just straight up authentic and delicious... just like my old Pakistani neighbors used to make. If I'm ever in the area again Ill probably sit in the restaurant to get the full experience. As for the mixed signals in the payment process.. i get it.. AMEX is expensive for business owners.. but seriously, don't train the front end staff to deny it because it costs you a few more pennies... customers 1st! read more

I'm on a mission discovering all the good Indo-Pak halal style food in this area. These folks make an excellent, excellent Nihari beef dish and bone-in Karahi Chicken. Those are the 2 dishes I've carried out and they are favorites! The interior dining space is simple and looks like a small banquet hall with white linen covered tables and chairs. When I go in the afternoon seems like a husband and wife running it. Wife is quiet and husband Amjad is a friendly, respectful guy indeed. He recognizes me now and is a pleasure to order with. My carry out experience has been excellent and the yellow seasoned basmati rice they give is far superior to plain white basmati rice you get at most Desi places. Also I love that there are bone-in dark meat chicken dishes (unlike many other places that only serve dry tough boneless chicken breast). Yes, Americans like to eat with silverware but we Indians love to eat by hands and with bone chicken is far tastier usually. Great flavor and spice, top notch Nihari beef and Karahi chicken. Two big thumbs up from me and will continue to try more of their dishes. Tandoori chicken and naan is my next up! read more

Omg! I do not know where to start. This is a small little place in a strip mall that would be labeled as a dive. I looked at their reviews on yelp before I decided this was the place for my hubby and I to venture a try. After a horrific experience at India Flavors (restaurant a few doors down) I was worried how we would be treated here. Well I'm glad we tried this hole in the wall because they blew me away with their wonderful aromas and flavors. This is a family run place, right down to the little girl running around playing the "gummy bear song" on her electronic device. There is no snobby pretense here. There is a language barrier but if your not a stuffy rude butthole then this shouldn't be a problem for you. Also if you have an issue with religious beliefs and others having the right to practice their own beliefs again not your place to visit. I watched the older daughter bring a prayer rug out for a customer who was waiting on his take out order to be done so he could pray. While I am Jewish not Muslim I found this a very beautiful act. When he was finished praying he made sure the person waiting in the car for him came in and also prayed. Our food was brought out to the table and smelled amazing. I ordered Chicken Vindaloo, Aloo Gobi and Mutton Biryanis. Not one bite disappointed me. The medium heat in the mutton dish was spot on and the mild spice in my other dishes was perfect. Portions were very ample and we had food to take home. When we were seated a large container of water and glasses was brought to the table. Perfect when you have some heat to your food. Running out of liquid to put out a mouth fire is always a bonus in my book. I had never tried Pakistani food before but Indian is my favorite. The blend of the two was perfect. My first impression was that this place isn't the cleanest. There are white table cloth that cover the long tables and there were crumbs everywhere and a half-drinken water bottle in my seat.. It's just not a kept up place and has like no decór. Aside from ambiance though, I will say the food was pretty darn good. The kabobs and chicken were absolutely delicious as well as the bread. Authentic halal Pakistani food option. We tried nihari, beef behari kabab and seekh kabab. Nihari was good, but both the kababs were amazing. Be sure to mention before hand if your palate cant handle spice, because they make everything fresh and can adjust for it. Also, the default spice level is more than most can handle. The seating area is modest like most desi food outlets but the fresh stew and piping hot naans more than make up for that. Must must grab chai before you leave- aik dam kadakchap dhabay wali chai!! Simple and authentic home style food. Most of the chicken and goat curries are very good. Biryanis are average though, won't recommend. Preparation time is quite long but worth the wait, or you can call ahead and order. I barely eat vegetarian at restaurants, but my most favorite dish from here is definitely their Chhole Bhatture with Suji halwa. Excellent experience! I bought the beef bihari kabob and the chicken tikka boti. Serving size was very reasonable and easily fed a family of 4! Both dishes were cooked to perfection and the spice level is exactly what we had asked for. They were so nice that they even offered us complimentary soup (which was also very delicious). A young lady took our order and answered all of my questions and was very polite! My mouth is watering as I type this because i'm craving their bihari kabob! I will 100% be going back and will have to try the chicken bihari kabob next time as they were out when I went. So excited to have this restaurant so close to home!! There are now more than 8 Indian restaurants within a mile distance around this area. It is very tough to stand out in the crowd. This one does. Its seems like a family operated business. Means food is prepared with interest. Yes, it is little slow service but the items were freshly prepared. We felt it was worth the wait. They have few sunday specials and I liked everything I have tried so far. Mutton Biryani, Halwa Puri and Chai(Best Chai in Farmington area) are my favs so far. There were no artificial smiles, and they seemed like friendly and nice people although they dont show it. Its a small place and I have no complaints about anything as the food speaks for everything.
