Even though he's part of the Howard Brown system, he's still kind of a one man shop. Yes, he has support staff and a nurse but it's still just him. This means there's not other "backups" for him in the office when he's not in. I've tried to refer people to him and more often than not, he doesn't have the practice open to new clients. What I've found with Dr. Hargan is you can tell him anything. He doesn't make you feel judged. He's also very open about who he is as a person. That's kind of rare in today's world of managed care.

She was highly unprofessional, making several inappropriate comments to me, violated HIPPA laws by discussing my medical care with people who she was not authorized to speak with--on multiple occasions, even after I asked her not to, constantly interrupted me when I was trying to answer questions she asked me and would change the subject when I would ask her questions about my care (so she wouldnt answer the questions). After leaving her office after my first appointment, having spent $1,200 out of pocket, I hoped maybe it was just a bad day, but it wasn't and the issues only progressed with my next few visits. I had an issue with a prescribed medication and it took her three weeks to call me back, leaving me in the lurch and having to have my primary care dr step in and manage my care until I finally heard back from her. I think she has a lot of great knowledge but has a bit of an ego that doesn't allow her to properly care for her patients which is a shame, especially after paying so much.

One of my clients loves going to Dr Lavery. raves about how attentive he is, calls her back, her husband and her sisters all go to him. Yelpers are raving about him. I thought I was coming down with a sinus infection or the cold that wouldn't go away and wanted to see him about a physical down the road. I made an appointment and they got me in to see him the next day. Despite the CTA screwing me over and barely a taxi cab in site, I did manage to make it to my appointment with literally a minute to spare. If you are 15 minutes late, you have to reschedule and will be charged a late fee. Whew..... Well, I got it all answered for you. Dr. Lavery is nice, quick, informative with out going over your head, gives you all your options when faced with decisions and let you make the choice. He's about business, but with a smile and wants to make sure you are comfortable. Not about wasting your time, but still giving you the time you need. He actually did the physical and made sure everything was working order. They were. Which, of course, makes me happy. Hopefully I don't have to see him until my next physical, but at least I know I will be in good hands. Now, turn your head and cough.

Yelpers seem to love Dr. Anne Suh, but she was booked through February, so I took an appointment with another doctor in her office, Dr. Lavery. The problem wasn't really with him, although he did criticize my drinking and recreational drug use, and then almost immediately offer to write me a prescription for happy pills. The problem was with the nurses. A young nurse with an Olympia College name badge came in to check my height and weight. She seemed unfamiliar with how to use a balance scale and it was obvious she was nervous. Later she returned and it was apparent that she was going to be the one drawing my blood. I'm alright with needles and my veins are easy to hit, but when she ties and reties the rubber strap more than once and then asks me whether or not she should be tying a butterfly knot, I started to freak. Everyone needs to practice, but I didn't want to be her pin cushion. I asked her if she could find someone to help her and she said, "Are you sure? I've done this SEVERAL times." YES, I'M SURE. She returned with another nurse who acted like her presence was unnecessary, yet proceeded to correct the first nurse's choice of needle, retie her knot, and readjust her supplies. Even after all that, they ended up poking me three times. Jerks.

Dr. Sage is so calm, present, thorough, friendly, and supportive. Her care is evidence-based and she explains the "why" behind each recommendation. Like today, I went in for an annual physical, and she and her staff (MA Sandra is fabulous, too) explained each test, measurement, and the purpose and possible side effects of the vaccine I was given. The appointment started exactly on time and lasted 30 minutes, which is great. No one rushes you through! It is super handy having a lab in the same building. I just walked across the waiting area and was all able to get all of my lab work done almost immediately. Office is new, super clean, lovely lobby, free garage parking (if less than 90 minutes) and excellent COVID protocols in place including pre-screening phone calls, temperature taking, masks, distancing, hand sanitizer, and limited paperwork. We highly recommend Dr. Sage and our family feels super lucky to have found her!!
