She listened to our concerns and answered all of our questions. She was friendly and professional and knowledgeable. She prescribed medication and gave him an allergy shot. His rash was cleared up in a few days. She also gave us a couple of ideas to help prevent the infection from reoccurring every couple of months. We were very happy with the care she gave to our dog. We will be taking our two other dogs for their yearly exams. We are so relieved to have found a new vet to care for our fur babies. Thank you to Dr. Manzey for being so welcoming and caring.

Not today. This is quite long but because I have been quiet for so long I have the right to vent. You don't have to read it. You don't have to agree. Or leave your opinion, but here goes.... Six months ago my regular exotic vet was not available so I looked up Ridglea West Animal Hospital website and read that Dr. Verwers treats exotics. I should have researched him better but like I said it was an emergency. Since my first visit I have read reviews on Yelp and YP.com in which he allegedly PTS a persons guinea pig then returned it in a box with bloody fingerprints on it, apparently squeezed and stretched a snake to the point that while the owner was taking it home it attempted to vomit and had blood in its mouth. The owner called the "Dr." who refused to further treat it, so it died. My personal experience was that he completed only a rudimentary examination, was arrogant, condescending, misdiagnosed my furchild and recommended enough medication that would've put her in cardiac arrest as per my regular vet. After 3 phone calls during the next week he finally returned my call and rudely and unprofessionally stated that he should charge me $90 for reading her previous records and that he could go ahead and charge me $300/hr because that is what his time is worth. I am a patient person and tolerate of a lot of crap but not this time so I took him to court. "Dr." Verwers was to much of a coward to show up. Unfortunately, Judge Swearington basically said that there was no case since animals are property citing a previous case where his neighbors dog was shot and killed. They attempted to sue. "Poor neighbor was heartbroken for 2 days". I asked him just 2 days? "Well, you know, he was heartbroken". Crap, really?? You think?? Also, because "Dr." Verwers wasn't there to defend himself there was no case. So what you're saying is there is no case because he is an arrogant coward? I guess that is not against the law. So enough is enough. I firmly believe in if I tell 2 friends and they tell 2 friends and so on and so on.maybe he will feel it in his thick wallet. Maybe he can take that $300/hr and get educated on some bedside manners. Or take a vacation by taking a flying leap off this planet. And take the Judge with him.

In that awful moment, they were compassionate, gentle, and present. I will always be grateful for that. But sadly, the care and kindness stopped there. When I returned to pick up her remains, the experience couldn't have felt more different. The front desk person was on the phone, which I understand--clinics are busy places. But while I stood there, barely holding myself together, I could hear and see three staff members in the back laughing loudly and carrying on, who had clearly seen me. I waited in silence for ten long minutes before one of them finally shouted from the back room, asking, "Do you need something?" I was in pieces. I wasn't about to yell across rooms for my pet's ashes. Eventually, one woman came out. She looked annoyed, rolled her eyes, handed me a small bag, and turned around and walked away. No words. No eye contact. No compassion. Just... ouch. That moment hurt. It still hurts. After everything, that final goodbye felt cold, rushed, and disrespectful. I understand people have off days, but this wasn't a moment for carelessness. I hope this feedback is taken to heart, because grieving pet parents deserve tenderness and dignity from beginning to end.
