After shopping around to transport my mother from Rockville, MD to The Villages, FL, Med Transport…read moreCenter gave us several quotes (air commercial and ground transport). A couple days before our requested leave-by date, we get a call saying that there was a ground transport nearby after dropping off a client in Pittsburgh. Since they were nearby they offered an even better deal for ground transport ($2k off). We jumped on the opportunity. The 13-hour trip was smooth. I followed in the family car while my sister rode in the vehicle with my mom, the 2 drivers, and the registered nurse. Drivers switched every 4 hours, which allowed me & my sister to also trade in driving responsibilities. The trip was overnight, so whoever wasn't driving was sleeping. Would definitely recommend if you need to transport your loved ones long distances.

I traveled all 48 hours with her and the amazing team, so I was able to experience the trip firsthand. The vehicle was immaculate, just wonderful. The photos shown by the company on Yelp are 100% accurate. My grandmother had a hospital bed, and I had a nice travel bed in back. The nurse (love you, Terri!) and drivers were fantastic: professional, polite. Given our distance, sure, it was expensive, but it cost half the price of a flight, carried me too, and included a team of two drivers and a nurse, to say nothing of food and fuel. As my grandmother said, "That's what my savings are for, late in life medical care and emergencies." It was a terrific value, and I strongly, personally recommend this service.

Trip was from a memory care facility in FL to another place in OH…read more Took place July 28, 2025. Pro: Got my mom from point A to point B in the time frame that was agreed upon. Cons: Absolutely everything else. Terrible communication once the contract was signed. Never got any information/logistics/acknowledgments. Had no avenue to ask questions about basics - like can we bring luggage? I had to call to confirm that things were still happening. Was told someone would reach out, no one ever did. Got one call when staff was about an hour out from initial pickup. Drivers were rude to the memory care staff. My mom had a close relationship to her caretakers and they were all sad to see her go. The female driver was very brusque with them and left one of them in tears. Van was in terrible shape Cracked windows. Dirty. One of the reasons I chose this company was that the website listed an on-board bathroom. They did indeed have one, but it was full of baggage, including our luggage. Here's where it gets even worse: My mom was offered no food, no water, and was not taken to the restroom at any time during the 14 hour trip. She was strapped in and the nurse was cranky when she asked for things to be adjusted. My mom is in late-stage dementia and her main physical difficulty is incontinence. She was not changed once during the trip. She had gone to the bathroom and was left to lie in the mess; it was so bad there was urine in her hair. She can be easily agitated and hard to calm down. I felt I had to maintain a very calm affect as to not scare her and so did not confront the nurse or drivers, since our fate was literally in their hands for the trip. I texted ahead to the new facility to let them know what was happening so they could be prepared to get her cleaned up and fed ASAP. When she was dropped off, the nurse insisted on putting her into her bed despite her being covered in her waste. The new staff agreed with me to keep her calm and not make a fuss, but this was terrible for them as well. We had to scurry to make things comfortable and safe for her. To make it all even worse, the nurse had to nerve to say my mom was an "easy" patient. This was honestly one of the worst experiences of my life. It's taken me months to even be able to write this up. Avoid this company at all costs.

We contracted with Medical Transport Services anticipating a more comfortable transport for my…read moremother. Neither in any of my multiple conversations with the company or on the website do they disclose the extent of the extremely rough ride that this type of vehicle provides. We were misled by the perception that this was a Mercedes line vehicle and the comfort that Mercedes typically brings in their vehicles. The ride was so rough my mother was sore for two days, if she had been experiencing one of her bad days with pain this ride would have been excruciating for her. There needs to be some type of disclosure on your website that brings awareness to potential clients that this is not a smooth ride, it is extremely rough, much more than a typical passenger car. The website promotes a bathroom on board, however, we were told it is not usable. Most distressing was that I was told that all food and drink would be provided for my mother. I called three times specifically to talk about the food with the staff and was told each time that this all would be taken care of by your company, that I did not have to bring any food at all on board. I was told they would coordinate with the senior living facility and with Hospice to meet her dietary needs and provide all her food and drink during the 10 hour trip. The only thing on the entire trip she was offered was mashed potatoes! After three conversations with your staff about her needs, the only food was mashed potatoes? Our departure time was early AM, I was told three times that Medical Transport Services would coordinate her breakfast with the senior living facility, I was told that Medical Transport will bring her breakfast from the facility on the transport if she does not have time to eat it. I asked, do I need to call the facility to coordinate, I was told no, the Medical Transport Company will do that. She did not get breakfast at the facility and she was offered no breakfast on the transport. We paid a very high price for this transportation and received an alarmingly uncomfortable ride and no food. I contacted the office after the trip and I spoke to Ashley who did not offer any concern for our experience, she said she would look into it and call me back. She never called back. I also reached out to Randy Cherry who said he would get back to me and never did. We can't change what happened on this trip, but we feel some sort of compensation in the price we paid for this trip is due as well as changes to the website to bring clarity to how rough this transport is. I'd really like to at least be able to give feedback to others in our connected ALS/PLS community, the feedback that this company at least listened to our concerns and did what they could to provide compensation but they did not.

I have been using CareRide for two years now as a disabled person who has a major back issue and…read moremetal in my leg but I can still get in and out of a vehicle unless it is van. Sometimes CareRide sends vans, for whatever reason. But I am thankful to have the discounted ride. Public transportation in Pinellas County, i.e., the bus, is horrible. Coupled with the heat in Florida and the time it takes to get there, you could end up in the ER. Therefore, this is a great service, most of the drivers are friendly and knowledgeable. However, the dispatching office is often rude, snarly and I have even been hung up on. In an attempt to provide feedback to the office, "Bonnie" was having no part of my explaining. She was defense, citing how many clients they serviced each day (1600) and DID NOT appreciate my relaying what occurred on my last trip. She actually advised the riding and doubling up of customers in cars "was only going to get worse". I doubt she would have passed on my concerns about my experience of the driver getting gas while I am a passenger and it is 8:30 a.m. Not only that, he couldn't find my apartment which is on a high-traffic street and he could not find the doctor's office, stopped the car as "he also needed to use the restroom" to go into another business and inquire. I simply got out of the vehicle and walked the rest of the way. If it is a long trip of over five miles, I will use CareRide. Otherwise, I call Lyft. You may pay more but the service is quicker, on-demand and no lip. Especially if you have groceries. The rule I have been quoted by dispatch is you can't have anything that has to go into the trunk of the car (unbelievable) and you must have everything in your lap or at your feet. Some drivers are really crabby about this and some are cool with having two or three small shopping bags that they do not touch. All the cars are Prius and usually are very clean on the inside. Quite a tight fit, but nice and the A/C is great. CareRide just needs to amp up its customer service on the phone more than anything.

We couldnt be more pleased with the service. The cost is $4 each way anywhere in the county. She contacts them a day or two prior to needing them to set a pickup time. She drives her scooter onto the van lift and the driver belts her into the van. She's chatty and enjoys getting out and the people are kind enough to engage her in conversation. I feel very good about having her use Care Ride because I know she's in good hands. I recommend them highly.
