Masten's tech Matt came to my home and decerned an issue with my Daikin mini split. Matt phoned me to confirm he "ordered the part the same day". He explained that it could take up to 7-14 days; however they have been good in receiving parts commonly within 5-6 days. On August 15th I contacted "Shannon" inquiring about the part. Her response was and I quote "no the part has not arrived, and stated it was not ordered till the 15th". I explained that Matt called me on the 12th that he had placed the order the 12th. Contradicting what Matt had previous advised me. I requested the tracking number to see if the part was out for delivery. She stated "I'll have to ask Matt, he got in late", but she would ask, she never returned my call. On the 20th she called stating there was NO tracking number. Everything in this day age in delivery service has a tracking number. Her response was "since Covid everything is running behind" That is why you always receive a tracking number to follow the ETA and whether it was out for delivery. Particularly in this day and age. Because she could not conclude where my "ordered" part was" She continued to insist she did not know where the part was and told me she would pray for me". On the 21st mind you, Shannon called me advising " they called Goodman's on University, in Denton and my part was going to be there on Thursday or Friday for sure. However depending on what time it is received would determine if they would come out that day, if by chance it was not received they would be out Monday" It was not received . On Monday August 26th Shannon called to advise me the part was not in, and because it was "taking so long". Matt drove to Goodmans to pick up the part and would be coming straight to my house" Upon arriving Matt and a secondary tech Ryan arrived. Matt offered no apologies for the excessive delay or the convoluted information by Shannon. Matt and Ryan arrived replaced the part however Matt on completion of the installation, decided to exit through the back yard through the fence and left. Ryan came in solo to collect my check. I asked why it took so long, why did you have to pick up the part? He simply replied" I dont know." I could have picked up the part myself if they spoke up that they apparently are running low on staff . I paid as a lawful citizen. I asked them to hold the check for 2 weeks bc I was facing back issues and felt that at the least they would offer a discounted rate due to the clear fact the part was never ordered! Dishonesty such as this is substandard way to retain local business. We have been loyal customers, supporting neighborhood business for more than 17 years and unfortunately, the greed from Shannon to be so dishonest we will no longer use them. It says a lot about a persons character when you sneak out the back door. It took them 2 weeks while I sweltered in a 95 degree room in pain. I had a lower lumbar spacer implant im getting my staples out tomorrow . I have chronic Spinal Stenoses I made Shannon clearly aware of this. However Shannon continues to call and attempt to get me in to pay because my postdated checks never got there. I live across the hwy in Corinth. She threatened me that if I dont pay the amount she is going to "send someone to take the part back" lol sorry but that would be trespassing and or breaking and entering" both are clearly asinine and unlawful to do. Why would an employee threaten such with such an absurd statement? Shannon continued to talk over me and tell me she was going to pray for me. Well Shannon do you now understand that common courtesy and threating people over money is greed.

SUMMARY: Our former homeowner used Work Environmental and now we do too after a terrible experience w/ a company named Best 1 Air (B1A). BACKGROUND: Our 2nd A/C unit was cycling on and off. It was effectively non-op. We got a recommendation from a friend to go with B1A because we were a bit desperate to get it fixed asap and what a mistake. SHORT STORY: B1A was recommended to us and the tech came. He pulled at our condenser wire and the condenser stopped working. He turned to me and said "What happened???" and I said "YOU TELL ME". So literally this tech spent 3.5 hours sweating in our attics trying to figure out the problem. It became apparent that he was spending too much time trying to do things and he said he thought it was related to the circuit board and would need to come back a second time. To make matters worse, he left a mess. Gate was left open (cat almost got out), both attics were left open with the lights on, hose was not reeled in, and then he sat on our brand new dining room chair sweating through his pants. Like who does that? I also asked him to bill me for the work and he said he didn't even have invoices to fill out and give me. Seriously. After short discussion the next day w/ the wife, we elected to text him to not come back. We called Work Environmental and they sent TJ over. THE FIX WAS IN HIS HANDS TJ was extremely professional and courteous. I gave him the low down of what happened and after some short diagnosis he figured out within about 30 minutes that it was shorting. He went back to the condenser, looked at the wiring, and he ended up replacing the wiring. Pic attached. The wiring was so old that the wire sheathing and the protective sheath was rotted away. The wires were touching against each other and thus shorting itself. TJ replaced the wiring and was done in a little over an hour's time. Cost was the cost of the service call ($119). The other guy spent 3.5 hours and the cost was nearly $400. He did fill up our main condenser with 2lbs of freon, he said so deduct whatever the cost of that was. But the difference in expertise and professionalism is starkly night and day. The thing that makes us upset is that we believe the first tech from B1A might have not been honest with us. I mean literally I watched him pull at the wiring and the unit shut down in front of the both of us. Why he didn't spend more testing/diagnosis at that failure point is beyond me. Literally, it was in his hands. RETURN SERVICE? Yes. We appreciate the expertise, the professionalism, and the timeliness.

The salesman whom arrived was nice and cordial at first and took his time, but he did not have a face mask or shoe covers. Things just went downhill from here. I asked him since we just had our carpet replaced in the bedrooms if he could take off his shoes or if he brought shoe covers to which he sharply said he could not take off his shoes as it is an OSHA requirement and he did not have shoe covers. After looking around he started probing how we wanted to pay for the new system. He became very short when I asked if I could get the finance and cash price to which he replied that I had to pick one and he would not give both. He employed the typical car dealership tactic "how much do you want your monthly payments to be" etc. etc. We sat down later after he came back from crunching the numbers and started with the flagship $19k Lennox on down to around $8300 for their budget model. I told him I was interested in their budget model and he wanted to know why. We chatted a little longer and he said he would send the estimate with model numbers etc. Well, it is over a week later and still no estimate. Could have been just a perfect storm, but this was my experience and they clearly do not need the business. Clearly we became a waste of his time. I would give Zero Stars if I could.

My concern is the high price and how the company responded when I asked for transparency. The tech diagnosed a failed capacitor and a faulty liquid-line pressure switch. We paid $1,233 total: $89 Service call + 269 Capacitor replacement + $875 Liquid-line pressure switch replacement. The $875 line item is what prompted this review. To get the part, the technician drove to Carrollton for an OEM switch. The drive, pickup, and install took about two hours total. While they were procuring the part, I did some research. An OEM switch of this type retails for about $50-$150, and a typical all-in price for this repair is around $300-$450. At $875, even valuing the part generously at $300, that leaves $575 for two hours of labor -- nearly $290/hour, on top of the separate $89 service call. That's well above standard rates. What bothered me most: before I paid, I called the office and asked for a breakdown of the $875 price. The rep declined to itemize, said the rate was "industry standard" (it's not), and dismissed my questions. I paid the invoice promptly, but deciding to urgently fix your AC in Texas heat is not the same as being clear on if what you're paying is reasonable. Net net, I should've done due diligence on the quote and I paid the price for it (literally). I originally called Calvin's for help because it seemed to have a good reputation with pricing and doing right by the customer, but their refusal to explain why I was charged 2x benchmarks makes me feel like I was overcharged. My advice to future customers: do your due diligence and benchmark the quote before you authorize the work. Flat rate pricing shouldn't absolve a company from telling you what you're paying for exactly.

Turns out it was a minor adjustment or 2 and other then a noisy blower the furnace did not need to be replaced. I had been charged to service it two other times very recently and on both occasions was told that I needed to replace the whole system or at least the blower to make it heat properly. After Best left it was heating like it should and, even if they had charged me a service fee, I'll never call another company to address my heat and air needs again.
