On Friday August 10th I contacted Masten's made an appointment for Monday the 12th to avoid "extended weekend prices". Masten's tech Matt came to my home and decerned an issue with my Daikin mini split. Matt phoned me to confirm he "ordered the part the same day". He explained that it could take up to 7-14 days; however they have been good in receiving parts commonly within 5-6 days. On August 15th I contacted "Shannon" inquiring about the part. Her response was and I quote "no the part has not arrived, and stated it was not ordered till the 15th". I explained that Matt called me on the 12th that he had placed the order the 12th. Contradicting what Matt had previous advised me. I requested the tracking number to see if the part was out for delivery. She stated "I'll have to ask Matt, he got in late", but she would ask, she never returned my call. On the 20th she called stating there was NO tracking number. Everything in this day age in delivery service has a tracking number. Her response was "since Covid everything is running behind" That is why you always receive a tracking number to follow the ETA and whether it was out for delivery. Particularly in this day and age. Because she could not conclude where my "ordered" part was" She continued to insist she did not know where the part was and told me she would pray for me". On the 21st mind you, Shannon called me advising " they called Goodman's on University, in Denton and my part was going to be there on Thursday or Friday for sure. However depending on what time it is received would determine if they would come out that day, if by chance it was not received they would be out Monday" It was not received . On Monday August 26th Shannon called to advise me the part was not in, and because it was "taking so long". Matt drove to Goodmans to pick up the part and would be coming straight to my house" Upon arriving Matt and a secondary tech Ryan arrived. Matt offered no apologies for the excessive delay or the convoluted information by Shannon. Matt and Ryan arrived replaced the part however Matt on completion of the installation, decided to exit through the back yard through the fence and left. Ryan came in solo to collect my check. I asked why it took so long, why did you have to pick up the part? He simply replied" I dont know." I could have picked up the part myself if they spoke up that they apparently are running low on staff . I paid as a lawful citizen. I asked them to hold the check for 2 weeks bc I was facing back issues and felt that at the least they would offer a discounted rate due to the clear fact the part was never ordered! Dishonesty such as this is substandard way to retain local business. We have been loyal customers, supporting neighborhood business for more than 17 years and unfortunately, the greed from Shannon to be so dishonest we will no longer use them. It says a lot about a persons character when you sneak out the back door. It took them 2 weeks while I sweltered in a 95 degree room in pain. I had a lower lumbar spacer implant im getting my staples out tomorrow . I have chronic Spinal Stenoses I made Shannon clearly aware of this. However Shannon continues to call and attempt to get me in to pay because my postdated checks never got there. I live across the hwy in Corinth. She threatened me that if I dont pay the amount she is going to "send someone to take the part back" lol sorry but that would be trespassing and or breaking and entering" both are clearly asinine and unlawful to do. Why would an employee threaten such with such an absurd statement? Shannon continued to talk over me and tell me she was going to pray for me. Well Shannon do you now understand that common courtesy and threating people over money is greed. read more

I have always had honest, reliable and valuable services from Masten Air Conditioning and Heating. They have reliably provided me maintenance services for the past three years. Today we had a problem with our furnace, and Matt was available to provide top-notch service and repairs the same day. While the service provided on-site is always great, I also want you to know that Cambrie who answers the phone is probably the most pleasant and professional representative of a company with you will ever deal. If you don't want to get ripped off like I did DO NOT call Masten Air-Conditioning. My A/C went out last week, I find Masten as recommended so I call them. I wish I never did. My problem was obvious, the outside unit seemed to be working but nothing blowing inside, just an eerie hum from the blower motor. What I didn't know that my A/C was made in 1980. Jason Masten comes out and dollar signs must have flashed in his eyes, as he replaces a 5 buck capacitor charges me $95 for it on top of his $89 diagnostic fee on a bill with a quote for a whole new system. When I mention that it sounds like the blower motor needs to be replaced, he tells me that it would cost me $800 + labor and to just get a new unit at that point. Now, most of you are probably thinking: "Why are you complaining, your 37-year old A/C is fixed under $200?" That's not where my problem is... Its that it worked for roughly 4 hours on a Friday night. I've called multiple times without receiving a follow-up call. I've called and left voice message and requested Jason (or anyone) to contact me 7/8, called on Monday 7/10/17 and Tuesday 7/11/17 leaving voice mail and requests with the lady that answered to have someone have the courtesy to call me back to please give me options, instead of being left in the heat waiting. Nobody called. Had to buy two window units to temporary get by. ONLY after I left a nasty email complaining about how I was treated, did receive a return call (voice-mail).. at that point it was a little too late and I wasn't going to fall for his crap again. I even requested a partial refund for the overpriced capacitor since it didn't fix the problem (I ended up filing a complaint with the BBB, never was refunded a dime). Ultimately out of a good friend's recommendation I contacted a different A/C - Hear repair company on the phone, describe the problem. Immediately, without coming onsite he knew exactly what I needed without trying to sell me anything more; He comes out with all the parts needed, replaces the blower motor with bracket, new capacitor (because the $95 Masten rip-off was even the wrong size), he thoroughly cleans out the inside unit then goes outside checks the freon levels totally cleans the inside of the outside unit where years worth of dirt caked up the cooling fins. All for $420 including labor and fees. He tells me that other than what he replaced there's nothing else wrong with the AC and that it has at least two maybe three more years because it was very well built and kept. My AC now runs better than I've ever seen it in 8 years that I've lived here it blows more air and it cools down quickly. We were extremely fortunate to have found Matt and the people at Masten Air Conditioning to service our a/c system. We moved to the Dallas area 2 years ago and were introduced to the company by our real estate broker. Masten is trustworthy and great to work with. Their prices are reasonable. Their work is impeccable. And, their service can't be beat. We purchased an older home that turned out to need major air conditioning upgrades. The existing a/c ran nonstop throughout the first summer we were here, but it was not cooling the house. Our electrical bills were enormous. Following Matt's advice, we replaced the compressors and air handlers, installed smart thermostats, and redesigned and replaced faulty ductwork. All of this work was performed flawlessly, the house has been comfortably cool throughout even the hottest days of this summer, and, thanks to the smart thermostats, I can report the run time on the system has been cut from 23 hours per day to 15 (a reduction of 33%) on those very hot days. read more

They put in a unit for me that was a dual mode something (not central air). I was told that it would keep my house comfortable. In the winter my house was freezing despite having the heat turned up to the highest level. I called the company. They came out and blamed the insulation on my house. Now it is summer. I am miserably hot. I am sure if I call I will get the same run around. I am going to call the Texas Board of Licensure to see what I can do I want my 7 grand back. read more

I had used Masten before, from a friend's referral. My AC went out on Wednesday and they were out Thursday to let me know the bad news- compressor was out and it appeared the condenser was leaking. Quoted me a fair price on replacing the compressor and condenser along with a quote to replace the whole unit. I got a couple of other quotes for replacement units on Friday. Went with their very competitive quote on a Trane unit. They installed on Monday. The install was very smooth, the crew was professional, polite, and focused on doing the job right. Jason (the owner) was on site for the entire install. By Monday evening the new AC/Heater and blower were installed and working great. Holy smokes but this unit blows some seriously cold air! No mistakes, no surprises, no hiccups- just a great job on a quality unit done at a fair price. read more

As they have done several times, Masten quickly responded when I told them my heat was not working (and it was right before we had the freezing temps in December). They made it out within a couple of hours and fixed it very quickly. Our control board was out so our thermostat was not working. They are always honest, very respectful of my time - when they say they will arrive, etc., and more than anything, I totally trust them and their advice! They have very competitive pricing, and have taken great care of us and several friends as well. In addition to great pricing and excellent service, these owners will answer the phone day and night!!! They have gone to a neighbor's home at 11PM during the summer when the A/C was not working. Masten Air replaced our entire duct system in 2011 and it made a world of difference in the comfort of our home. They also replaced our furnace at the same time. The A/C started blowing warm air last summer and they came out, diagnosed the problem (one part had gone out) and had it fixed within an hour-No hard sale trying to get me to replace my 9 year old A/C compressor. When the unit does go out and needs replacing, I will be buying it from Masten! read more

My landlord called this company to have them come and fix my heater. The first time I called, they scheduled for the next day at 4:30 pm. By 4:50 no one was had arrived any I had called and the lady who answered the phone stated that he ran late on another job. By 5:10 the lady called back and stated that he had tried calling and left a voice mail. There was no voice mail and no missed phone call. He finally showed up around 5:30 pm and when he finally went up in the attic, he had to ask me for a fuse because he did not have one. They charged $175 for the 5 minutes that he was here and had to get the part from me, because as any other reputable repair man would have these parts on hand. Then, about a week later, the heater went out again on a Friday around 3:30 pm. By 4:40pm I still had not received a phone call. I called again and the dispatcher had stated that the technician had tried to call me 3 times and had left a voice mail. There was no voice mail and no missed phone calls. Same story he gave last time because he did not want to come out after 5. I called to find out when someone would be out here and the dispatcher handed the phone to Matt. I have been in the Heating and AC business longer than Matt has been alive and I spoke to him. I tried to explain what the issue was, and I was acting as if I was new to the industry to see what this young technician knew. I have found out that he does not only lie, he is also lazy. I will never recommend this company to anyone. And I think that it is pretty pathetic that I had to give this technician the part to fix my own heater. That is how much experience this young technician Matt has. He was very argumentative and rude. He said that the company did not do any after hours calls because they could not get parts. The part that is needed is a very common part that goes out constantly. All other reputable companies have these parts on hand because you can not do after hours calls when the parts house is closed. I was told to use my emergency heat because he did not have the part to fix it until Monday, yet we all know that parts houses are open until noon on Saturdays. The reason electric heat is not used is because of the increase in your electricity bill, that is why the heat pump was invented. Even if Matt knows what a heat pump is. To sum it all up, this is the worst company that I have ever dealt with in the 25 years that I have been in this business. I wouldn't trust Matt to work on anything ever. Everything that came out of his mouth was an excuse. If I owned this company, I would defiantly re-evaluate Matt's skills. I spoke with the owner of my house, he said that you could get the fan motor from Lennox, which is $400, $600 after hours. I am the lead facilities technician for a very large company I deal with Lennox at least 4 times a week. There is no possible way that this motor costs this much, and why is there a price for after hours, if you can not even get the motor until Monday? And by the way, my emergency heat sucks. More than likely, the elements are not that good in it. And I would like to thank you for running up my electricity bill this weekend. If you are looking for a good HVAC company, which I do not work for, Tri-Star Heating and Air or BCI Mechanical in Denton and surrounding areas would be a great choice instead of these rip off artists. You would have better luck finding someone on Craigslist with a screwdriver and a pair of pliers and no license, that is probably where they found Matt. read more
