This would be 5 stars if they didn't end up price gouging for a routine maintenance visit…read more I've used them before, once for a routine service visit and once when a radiator pipe was leaking (they ended up also doing our next service on the boiler at that time). The first time they did the maintenance, they didn't drain and refill the boiler, which was always done by any previous service techs. The second time I asked them to (after they replaced the bolt on the leaking pipe) and they did. In June of this year when they came for the maintenance, I mentioned that I'd like the boiler drained/filled again. Steve starts talking about how if I want the boiler drained, there are separate charges since they are different jobs, the burner and the water. This is news to me; every reputable tech has always drained the boiler as part of the service, even when we had an oil boiler, and the charge includes both services. After spending no more than 15 min total on my boiler, I go to write a check ($125 a year ago) and he says he needs to call the office to get the price. Red flag. They did not quote me when I called, but I also had used them before for the same service and knew that if the price went up, say to $150, I would have been fine with that. He returns and says it's $325 and does this song and dance about how their costs have gone up and he's not going to charge me the $125 fee to come out. What? It would have been $450 for a 15-minute scheduled routine maintenance call? I followed up with the office a few times to get an invoice with the 2 "charges" broken out. You guessed it, a month later they have ignored the request. I try to keep my business local rather than go with the big companies. Top Mechanical gave me a great lesson on how the little guy will choose to rip you off if he feels he can get away with it. Go with the big company is the takeaway if you don't want to be ripped off.

The owner loaned to me a space heater until the job was complete. I only have one request from the company to use drop cloths as not to make a mess on their future projects. march 28, 2026 -- buyer beware!!! alpine heat pumps does not stand behind the products they sell…read more 18 months after purchase, major components failure of the compressor and inverter pcb board. best they could do was, we could get out there in maybe 2 weeks, why don't you try calling.....maybe they can help. alpine's representative had the nerve after it was diagnosed by another company as a known c464 failure problem with samsung to say, "well every now and then you get a bad one, but the parts are covered!" 18 months and a major failure, and we're supposed to come up with another $1,500 to $2,000 for labor and freon. so, they don't service what they sell, moreover, don't stand behind the product they recommended. not to mention that as part of mass save had to have our furnace disconnected and we are stll without heat (april 7) in half the house...tonights low expected to be 25 degrees! going on a week and half of 50% heat, not expected to maybe be repaired on the 14th. they were responsive in taking my $28,000 for the system, and now they will not respond! poor customer service! they take your money and move on! shop elsewhere, and go with company that actually services what they sell and stands behind the products they sell. oh, and they no longer sell samsung....no suprise. only 1 star, because can't give zero.

Quality work but I was not pleased with the way we were invoiced. The labor was very detailed but…read morethe materials were not. We had supplied a majority of the materials for the job. When we received the bill it had one line labeled "materials" for a couple hundred dollars. No itemization. When questioned about it we were told that's just the way they've always done it so we asked for a breakdown. We were told we would receive one, but we never received it. If you decide to have this crew do work, make sure they are as detailed with materials as they are with labor on their invoice. Without a doubt in my mind the materials portion on our invoice was significantly padded...a couple hundred dollars for what amounted to several feet of iron gas pipe and a cap, a couple feet of copper (we provided 90% of it) and one shutoff valve (we supplied the other five). Perhaps $50 in materials if sourced from a local jobber supply, but definitely not more than $200. There's a reason we never received the itemization...they knew they could never justify it.
