During the flight I tried to go into First Class to talk to my daughter and was stopped at the curtain and told I couldn't go past the curtain even to talk to my daughter. However, she was able to come back to the "cheap" seats and brought me some fresh fruit from first class which was a nice gesture. My seat mate slept the whole 10 hrs which made for a prefect flight.

If you've never been on a giant Airbus with just seven passengers with about the same number of flight attendants, it's an experience not to be missed. Flying for several hours, we all got to know the cabin crew well, plus each other. The pilot, co-pilot and navigator even circulated through the cabin once autopilot kicked in. Emirates won me over as a passenger for life by upgrading my already-cheap business class ticket to first class (they upgraded the whole plane to keep all 7 within easy walking distance LOL). On a normal flight, Emirates has great service, terrific food and very comfortable seats. We took them on a recent vacation to Zanzibar, so I knew they were stellar. If given a choice that includes them I will ALWAYS pick Emirates from here on. They freely pass out expensive champagne and there were two showers on the plane plus a full manned bar. The flight attendant even indulged my curiosity to see the "honeymoon suite" complete with bed and rose petals LOL. The strangeness started at the airport on both ends: maybe 2 dozen people were in the whole place (see pic). Emirates boarding can feel pretty exotic...the uniform includes a nod to their Dubai headquarters with an unusual loose scarf attached to a pillbox hat (sort of 1960s Pan Am meets the Arab world). Both the crew and the passengers are like a United Nations cross-section of the world. With Emirates cabin crews, they don't employ cranky unhelpful grandparents wearing Crocs with modified t-shirts and wrinkled pants. While diverse in ages and nationalities, the cabin crew is remarkably well-dressed: sleek suit and tie for the men, high-style dresses with pumps (impressively worn the whole flight) for the women. None of the cabin or flight crew were Emirati, they hailed from Asia, Europe, Africa and the US. Everyone was unfailingly polite (almost Stepford Wife-like). One nice and unexpected touch was all the free time everyone on board had. This must be what it was like to fly in the 1940s, and felt pretty glamorous chatting casually with all onboard, despite everyone wearing a surgical mask when not eating or drinking. No one even cracked a smile at my face mask plus plastic clear face shield (courtesy of the surgeon hubby, hehe)...people even asked how to get something similar.

Its pretty flexible, and the staff service and food are both very good. They are professional and efficient, so you know that you are in good hands. The stopover in Dubai also makes for excellent duty free shopping. You can buy anything from electronics, watches, jewelery, and clothes to alchohol and even win a sports car! Or more reasonable Arab delicacies like stuffed dates. This is a very good airline, and the baggage allowance gives you a world of freedom to shop to your hearts content.

Eventually you understand that no human cares about your predicament created 100% by them. Choose another airline if you can. Their baggage service reports heavy call volume 24/7. We have now advised them by phone and with screenshots the location at Edinburgh airport where are bags are resting. (Apple GPS locators) No results. Some people can't find their arse using both hands and a three- way mirror.

WORSE THAN SPIRIT AIRLINES!…read more Lost luggage nightmare!! This is easily the worst and least helpful airline I've ever dealt with. I'd even recommend Spirit Airlines over Aer Lingus. They lost our bags on our recent trip and have no desire to help us get them back. Their customer service is a joke and they are incapable of providing any answers to help us understand when we can expect the bags. Besides this nightmare we've experienced, the planes are also small and uncomfortable. Will never fly with them again!

Ok -- the ONE difference is that you need to pay for your food. But, the upside is the food is infinitely better than those soggy sammies you get from BA, so it's worth bringing a bit of cash and enjoying a nicely made sandwich or salad on your flight. We also got some nice snack boxes for our toddler with really healthy stuff, so we were pleased. Do bring some money for food! We were too won over by the brilliant lure of "the stopover." We decided to take advantage of this feature on our return trip from the US to visit family at the holidays. Despite this meaning that we had to fly through KEF to get to Washington DC (which was fine but we prefer to fly direct with a toddler) everything was pretty smooth. All of our flights were on time, and we certainly enjoyed our 5 days and New Years Eve celebration in beautiful Iceland. I highly recommend a visit and utilizing this function to save money on additional flights -- its also surprisingly close in flight time to the East Coast so it'll feel quite short for those of you used to flying endless hours! The real stars though were the staff. On each of our 4 legs all of the flight attendants and desk attendants were SO pleasant. A rarity! What are they serving up here in Iceland -- clearly it makes people much nicer than other places. On our last leg back to London they even went as far as to move several people so that our toddler could have the middle seat between us (which we did NOT pay for) so that we would be more comfortable. WHAT!? Totally unexpected but we so appreciated it. Not to mention the lovely cheeky little activity packs he got on EVERY flight with stickers, coloring books and a little toy. Icelandair = totally kid friendly. I would not hesitate to fly them again, and if you haven't been to Iceland -- get to booking!
