Do not use this company! I would like to leave two reviews of 1. Air Knights is not an honest company to work with and Paul is out to rip you off. Furnace: Jan 28th -2nd day of -20 and my furnace wasn't working. I really felt the pressure of burst h2o pipes. I wish I would have called for 2nd opinion. I won't say how much he charged me to replace my furnace, but it turned out that it was ~$3500 more than it should have been. If it even needed to be done in the first place. A/C: April 24th, he came back to give a complimentary A/C clean and mtnc. Gave me a bunch of lies of I should refill the freone levels and I have a leak in the line that he can patch for $2300. I called a reputable HVAC company and they said that was a complete line. That gas was pulled from market 6 yrs ago, and would NEVER be an option. My A/C was fine. read more

Paul is a thief and extremely unethical. He lied about how much freon my unit takes, and then over charged me on both the amount and price per lb! I had several other technicians come out and tell me my unit only takes 5lbs yet he charged me 7lbs and for a ridiculously expensive amount, and the pictures below prove it. You can get refills for $80 of 410A from other quotes in the area and he charged double. He then will try and strong arm you into a useless warranty when you can get your unit filled 3 times over for the same cost as his warranty. Him and his office will dodge your calls after they have stolen your money. Please read his reviews on yelp before reaching out to this company as others have had the exact same experience with him LYING about how many lbs a unit will take. I am writing this review to warn other families based on our direct experience. My parents were charged $9,500 for a new furnace they did not need. After the installation, multiple independent contractors confirmed the original furnace was still functional and did not require full replacement. Comparable bids for similar work were thousands of dollars less. When we requested a clear, itemized invoice explaining the cost breakdown, the company refused to provide one. Communication became evasive, and basic documentation that reputable contractors routinely provide was withheld. After researching further, we discovered numerous similar complaints describing the same pattern: urgent claims, high-pressure sales tactics, inflated pricing, and a lack of transparency after payment. Do not use this company. Paul and Julia are not professional or honest. They provided the first initial invoice in person to me personally and quoted is around $2600 for the visit and fix. Our franchise owner loves our of state so it was all on a trust basis. This initial service call was AUGUST 28th. After this initial fix of basking saying we had a leak and using a sealant and filing freon, our unit broke down again SEPTEMBER 6th. Paul did not come out again until SEPTEMBER 11th. Arrived to fix it and left and texted everything was fixed. Next day, thermostat is still reading incorrectly and at this point I'm thinking he just isn't familiar with a commercial unit or know where the thermostat is located. The 12th, 13th, and 14th was back and forth of he's coming and then stating he didn't get a call to confirm he was still needed. You see Paul kept asking us to turn off the AC so it could defrost, that's what I know now. That was the fix. To keep the fan in the on position and defrost the unit to get those quick fixes and by SEPTEMBER 15th, he said we needed another new part that would cost an additional $2250. My franchise owner was so upset and said no way we already paid over $2600. Somehow he convinced my owner for the part and we paid that too. Fast forward to OCTOBER 15th, guess what's broke down again? He came out to "fix" next day. Within 2 weeks, we broke down again. Our building maintenance brought it to our attention that something just didn't look right when they saw the air filter missing. So here comes NOVEMBER 1st... And we're down again. I got my owner involved right away this time and Paul was not so nice this time and clearly frustrated my owner relayed. Claimed he would be there Monday night Nov 4th after involving my owner (he was now ignoring me the Regional Manager who handles all of this for franchise owners). Paul never came. He ignored me through Wednesday when I finally just called the number on Google for the business. Julia and I began speaking this day. She was playing operator putting me on hold to talk to her husband Paul. He just wouldn't speak to me. It took that to get him to come out. He finally called me, raised his voice and started to make up excuses on why he never came. Julia and I already spoke a few times where she said the reason he hasn't was because he was booked solid and currently on a job. That's what he didn't know. But on the phone with him later he stated his wife was in the hospital and he would be leaving there just for me. Definitely trying to make me feel like a jerk, but he was just being dishonest. Paul was very unprofessional and said he would come fix whatever was in our warranty and then he would be "done with our business." He has ignored me since, I have been asking for an invoice for the last week now, they both have said it was emailed to the owner when he never gave his personal email. Then Julia said oh it was in a text. The owner stated he never received it in a text. I said Julia I just need the service records to show our new HVAC tech please email to me, can you take my email. And she just kept saying let me talk to Paul, let me talk to Paul. She literally would not take our email address to send the invoices too. At some point she said it was all over the phone and now today I called again asking to just please send me the invoices. We are also requesting a partial refund. And today Julia just chose to raise her voice and start yelling and talking over me. So I have to now go thru the BBB my owner stated since they are refusing to give me a copy of an invoice for the work done. We spent over $5000! Please do NOT use this company. Even if they promise to come out same day or a sunday. It is NOT worth it. Pay the extra for a professional company that will stand by their work and fix it correctly the first time. Especially if this is for a business. Heat in the home wasn't blowing heat. Called them to have someone come out and take a look and they sent Paul. He arrived and after a few minutes of looking at the furnace, he pulled out the filter and said to me, "This is how you take care of your furnace bro?" (in a condescending tone). He then said to me that all i need is a new filter, told me i owe him $120, then had me sign the invoice. From the moment they entered my home to the time they left was around 5 minutes. I am not afraid to admit I don't know anything about furnaces and how to take care of them. So to speak to me that way was very disrespectful. Person showed up on June 09 after agreeing to a $199 diagnostic charge for AC repair. Issue was nailed to a broken capacitor which he then sold to me for get this - $695. Total bill $894. He said the part was this expensive due to Covid shortage . I looked it up and was $20 for a 2 day shipping on Amazon. I'm all about a business markup that is fair but to use these kind of tactics is beyond ridiculous. I feel so bad for having got caught up in the heat wave that happened here and my kids constantly complaining about the AC being down. Shame on me for going to home advisor and shame on home advisor for recommending such scammers in the first place. I need to be more careful next time for sure. I got scammed but if this helps the next 50 people not having to go with this dubious company , I will feel it worth my while and for Karma to have prevailed. Called and asked for an inspection of my garage heater. Was quoted $120 for the tech to come out. I remarked that prices have really climbed - thinking nothing of it, just sighed. The young lady asked me to hold and came back telling me that she spoke to the owner and they had a special for $75. I was pleased. Cool. Tech showed up and did the inspection. He blew out the blowers as they were dirty. The space heater worked fine. Then he told me that garage heater were not on the special, and the price was now the aforementioned $120. Confused, I said I had explained it all to the people at the office; he didn't care. $120 is the price. I commented that they should get their stories straight and paid. The tech was not the most sociable person I've ever met, not rude, but dang close. I paid, but feel kind of crappy about the whole thing. Won't ever use them again. I submitted a request through Angi's list for problems with my furnace. It would shut off for a few hours during the day and an error would pop up on the smart thermostat that it couldn't get the furnace to fire. It is a 16 year old furnace. Air Knights was the first company to contact me and came out the same day. The tech told me I needed a new heat exchanger, inducer motor, and pressure switch. Repairing it would cost $4,400 or a replacement furnace was $5100 - $6,600. The heat proceeded to decline over the next few days. Prior to them coming out, the heat would drop to 66 degrees, but I could get it back to 70 degrees in the evening. After he was here, I struggled to get it to 64 degrees with space heaters. I then checked reviews on them and I became extremely nervous. I called Metro Heating and Cooling. They came out 2 days later. The tech had to turn the gas and pressure switch back on. He did a CO2 test and the inducer motor was fine. He turned the power to the furnace off/on to reset it. The furnace has worked fine ever since. The tech from Air Knights shut off the gas and pressure switch to my furnace. I'm assuming to speed up the process of me purchasing a new furnace from them. I have never heard of a company doing something so horrible to scam someone! I have a wife and 2 children in this house and I can't believe they did this! Please, never use this company! read more

I had Paul come out and check my garage furnace, and easy fix. He then asked when's the last time we had our home furnace cleaned. I told him that we moved in last fall and have not had the furnace cleaned. He offered to look at my home furnace. He proceeded to tell me that I had a cracked heat exchanger and that I needed a new furnace. He gave me a quote asked me to let him know. I had another company come in and give another opinion. I found out that there is no crack in my heat exchanger. Paul tried to sell me a $6200 furnace that I did not need. My furnace went out January of 2021 in the cold week -26. They tried working with my home warranty which the home warranty denied the claim. As soon as I said I'll just pay for it they came right out and put in a new one. Christmas day while I was out of town my furnace quit working. The owner came out on Christmas day and looked at it. Had to warranty a couple parts. 1 part was replaced and my boyfriend reset the circuit board and got it to work. Than while I was out of town again 2 months later my furnace quit working. I called the owner and they got a new circuit board and sent two guys an hour later and got my furnace working. I appreciate the customer service greatly!!! I own a flowershop in Edina, Our large walk in cooler was leaking freon, so we called for repairs, This is by far the WORST expirence I have EVER had in my life! Paul came , Looked at compressor and said a pipe had a leak, He would come back in a few days, which he did, Extracted the freon that was in the system, pretended to fix , and then instead of putting my freon back into the system, I caught him stealing it and loading it into his van, He made up a lame story about how he had put it into a dirty tank, and I didnt want that ,So he filled it up with his freon,, Charged me 1195.00, Needless to say , It leaked right out,, setup more appt';s , which he was a NO Show twice, this went on a few more times, He said he would refund my money, But never has , Have talked to Julie in the office more than a dozen times,, No resolution! Shady ass business practices, pressuring high cost services to get your house cool, and when deciding to go with another business, there was no compromise in moving forward and felt misled on the work that he did the day he worked in our unit. The only positive was it was relatively easy to get ahold of him. Although his voicemail box was full the time I tried to leave a message with him. We purchased our first home in June of 2020 and it was evident that the house needed some work, so we were not surprised when we started having issues with our furnace this winter. I went to Angie's List for help and requested a quote from all the listed companies. Within 15 seconds of requesting the quote, I received a call from Air Knights Heating & Cooling. I thought this was a great sign, however this turned out to be one of the worst experiences I have ever had.   When Paul arrived, he immediately started tearing my entire furnace and AC apart. He went on to say that we needed a whole new furnace and a new coil for the AC, as the coil was leaking and causing damage to the furnace. Without discussing other furnace options, he immediately began pushing a more expensive furnace on us. The total would have been approximately $7,500. When I inquired of a cheaper furnace option, which was similar to the furnace we currently have, he became irritated and short - probably because that would have been half the price of the initial quote. In addition to this, when I would ask questions or clarification, he appeared to be frustrated.   We decided to get a second opinion. The second opinion was a completely different experience. I explained what Paul had told us, and the technician appeared confused; he didn't understand why Paul would immediately start looking at the AC, when the call was for a furnace issue. It turns out the furnace just needed a deep cleaning, which was only about $600 (this company offered different levels of care - I just decided to go with the highest level, which offered an 18-month warranty). According to this technician, there was no sign the coil was leaking; in fact, that is not something he could see until the AC is back on. We saved nearly $7,000 by going through someone else.   Perhaps Paul was attempting to take advantage of us, as we had mentioned we were first time home buyers (rookie mistake - I know!) Regardless, it's clear that Air Knights is not a company that cares about customer retention or ethics. Save yourself money and go through someone else. read more

Service technician was very unprofessional. Air knight was used by my home warranty company to look into a water leak in my furnace room occurring in my central A.C unit. When the technician arrived I informed him of the issue and also showed him where the leak had occurred. He informed me that he was going to look at the A.C unit outside my home. The technician went outside my home and was on his phone for a while then left without coming back into my home to give an update of his findings. When I contacted the tech to find out why he left and what occurred he stated that my home warranty is aware of the issue and stated the unit may need some Freon, but most likely should be replaced. He mentioned my home warranty will contact me for the next steps on repair. Little did I know that he told my home warranty different information that I refused service, which was a lie because he didn't follow up with me regarding the service request till I called. It was a complete waste of time and didn't make sense to me that a service technician would show up to waste my time and his only to lie about denying services. On 6/21/2017 Air Knights serviced my AC by adding 7 lbs. of refrigerant and a sealant. The total cost was $750, $525 for the refrigerant and $250 for the sealant. The time spent on the job was less than 30 minutes. Researching costs, the A410a refrigerant is less than $10/lbs. on Amazon and the sealant cost about $65. The materials cost for the job was about $135. On 6/23/2017 discussed concern about the prices charged and Paul (owner) would not make any adjustments. He treated me as if I was inconveniencing him. Avoid at all costs. Would give 0 stars if possible. We were assigned this business by our home warranty company. Furnace was not heating properly during the Jan 2019 polar vortex. On the first visit (a Saturday), Paul was on site for about 10 minutes total, only changing the filter and quickly cleaning a part. No further examination of the furnace, or any of the thermostat settings was conducted. Before leaving, he stated that the brand of thermostat we have is junk and would never buy one. The steps taken did not fix the issue, so we called for a return visit. The next day, Paul arrived looking to only swap out the thermostat. We insisted that he further inspect the furnace. After inspecting, he identified a part that he felt needed replacing. The part needed to be ordered, but we were not given a timeline. After the visit, we contacted them, and were told they couldn't arrive until Wednesday and gave us a time frame of 9am-1pm. Visit 3 (Wednesday): At this stage, the temperature in our house was in the low 50s, and we had a frozen pipe. Paul didn't show up until nearly 3pm. When he arrived, he went straight to the basement, replaced the part, declared the furnace fixed. Again, no examination of thermostat settings or any other assurance that all avenues had been explored. The "fix" only got the temperature back up to where it was when we called for the first visit - thus, no improvement was made at all. Air Knights then told our home warranty company they recommended a 2nd opinion. So, we wasted several days with an incompetent contractor. DO NOT HIRE! If I could give negative stars I would. I have had this company come out to my house on many different occasions and they have only gotten worse each time. On this most recent time (7/10/2019) they gave us a window of 5-9 and it was approaching 8 and I worked early the next morning so I called them and asked around what time they were going to come. They told me that I didn't answer my phone earlier and that he called 6 times when he only called once that day so they canceled. It's been in the high 80s and getting hotter in the next week and explained​ to them that I need to have my AC fixed and how unprofessional they were acting. They came out to my house and told me I was basically delusional for thinking anything was wrong and told me everything worked perfectly. Not to mention I just paid them $200 the last time to fix this exact problem! When I brought this up to him he told me that he didn't even look outside at the unit because he "was focusing on something else". I continued to explain how no cold air would come out and if they could look at it again and they started raising their voice at me saying how my house is now "red-flagged" and they will "never service my house again". I am so infuriated at this company and how unprofessional they are and how they treated me! After they were done yelling at me and my family they slammed my front door and walked to their van through my yard and over my grass seed that had been growing for a week now and was just starting to come up. They got in their van and sped off in my residential neighborhood with kids playing outside. I would not wish this service on my enemy and I am so taken back by the disrespect I was given. After reading some reviews it seems very probable that Paul has something against people when working through their home warranty. I had no other choice but to work with this company because of my home warranty. Total B.S. He was honest & friendly even fixed my light bulb & replaced new light switch. We installed new Lennox furnace with Air Knights & installer James was very efficient and friendly. I have a home warranty thru Home Warranty of America. June 1 2019 I called in a claim for inop AC and furnace. They dispatched Air Knights. June 3rd I had contact with the receptionist. She seemed short, direct and not very friendly. She indicated they could not look at the problem until June 6th. Paul (owner and the tech) came out that day. He was 3 hours late. He correctly diagnosed the problem as rodent damage at the ac condenser outside the house. The damage also shorted out a transistor on the furnace. I asked to speak with him. he called back and indicated that he would not file a report with the warranty company unless I paid the $100 trip charge/deductible which I intended to pay all along. He also said the warranty company would decline the claim due to rodent damage and that the ac unit needed replacing because it was a fire hazard. He was short, rude, unprofessional and direct on the phone. he said he was recommending unit replacement due to the potential fire hazard and he was protecting himself and his company. I paid the $100 the next day, he filed his report and the warranty company declined the claim. I had a second company come out for a 2nd opinion the following week. A local repair company repaired both the ac and furnace for $452 total cost. Both have worked since. (5 weeks now) I contacted Paul requesting a refund of the $100 due to the recommendation of unit replacement rather than repair. I would have spent THOUSANDS rather than $452 if I would have replaced the unit. He once again was direct and seemed aggressive on the phone. he told me he would not refund the $100. I don't dispute the diagnosis. The unit did not need replacing. He had no intention of refunding me the trip charge and made it very clear during our conversation. With Air Knights/Paul I want to warn you, It's buyer beware and he should not be trusted. This is probably the worst experience I have ever had with a contractor. On Thursday Paul came out to fix my air conditioning unit, he had fixed it and then come Friday it is broken again. I called Paul and his office assistant and they both stated they would not be able to get me in until Tuesday, after a long conversation he came back out that night only to have it break 30 minutes after he left. During the phone conversation he told me I needed to be patient and he couldn't guarantee that the a/c was going to work and how he "couldn't baby-sit" my a/c unit. I tried calling him all day on Saturday (office hours 8-12) with no response. I finally bit the bullet and called a new a/c contractor that will be coming Monday afternoon. Paul was very friendly and polite when he installed my central humidifier nine months ago. A month later I was charged over $1,000 by my condo association for damages to a unit below mine. This damage was caused by Paul hooking up the unit to an uninsulated, outdoor drain pipe that froze. Paul had been instructed to use the kitchen drain pipe. He apologized and offered to refund some of the thousands I had already paid him (he even told me when he would deliver the money). terrible, not willing to even check outside unit for operation. deemed unit 'infested' . Some critter had nested for winter, left mess. Owner cleaned out, a common problem in MN. Left with no resolution, wanted $8,000 to replace A/C and furnace without checking plenum and gauges on condenser. Professional??? Good way to get owner to panic....make some $$$.. read more

Worst experience ever. Worst replacement of new furnace I ever had and cost $4900 (dec 2015). I am an out of state landlord and was unable to check their work after. 1 month later found basement bedroom Carpets full of water. They never fastened the drainage hose and water leaked everywhere in my finished basement. They came back to to fix it, but was still leaking and had to come out again and taped the heck out of the hose. Their best offer was to have "a friend" replace carpet. Also huge gaps 1-2" at connecting throat which was misaligned to existing ducts and had to retape myself. Makes me wonder what else they did wrong. Final install looks very unprofessional and now wonder if the furnace needed replacement in the first place! read more
