I contacted AirHandlers as a result of my one-year old Trane heat-pump failing to provide heat…read moreduring the recent cold spell. Although they were booked for the day, they said they would try to get a technician to my home within a few hours to diagnose the issue. Within 30-minutes, I received a text message from them indicating that Anthony, their technician, was on the way. A short time later Anthony arrived and got right to work at diagnosing the problem. After testing my outside unit and thermostat, Anthony identified the issue as a compressor failure on my heat pump. Fortunately, since this unit was only fourteen months old, the compressor was under warranty and a replacement part was available at no cost, although I would have to pay for the labor to install it. About thirty-minutes following the service call I received an email providing me with a written estimate of the cost to install the compressor. The estimate seemed to be a bit excessive to me so I called to discuss it with them. Upon doing so I was told that the estimates they provide are based on the "worse-case scenario," and that the actual cost would most likely be significantly less. They explained that their estimate assumed I would need the system's full capacity of new refrigerant, but most likely that the refrigerant in my system could be drained, saved, and then reinstalled once the compressor was replaced. That alone made the cost about $700 less than the estimate, and that made a lot of sense to me. Accordingly, I accepted their estimate and scheduled a service call to install the new compressor once it arrived two days later. When the date of installation arrived, I received a text-notification at 9AM that Chris from AirHandlers was on the way and would arrive within 30-minutes. A short time later, Chris arrived and got strait to work. The entire process to install the replacement compressor took about two hours. Following installation, Chris did a thorough check of the system to ensure everything was working within the system's specifications, and he provided me with a copy of the detailed report. Chris, who has extensive experience in HVAC systems of over 20-years, also provided me with some recommendations to improve my system's performance further by modifying duct work to increase air flow. Based on his experienced recommendations, I will be contracting AirHandlers in the very near future to perform this work. Following the work they performed, I received a bill by e-mail a few days later. The final bill was within the estimate they provided, and because the work did not require any additional refrigerant, it was substantially less--exactly as they had told me. I am very impressed with the technical competence, timely response to my needs, and the friendly and professional customer service they provided. In addition, they offer an annual service plan that is a great value, which I intend to purchase in January. I highly recommend AirHandlers to anyone in need of HVAC services. A+++

You Can Do No Better Than Norris Mechanical!…read more Hersey, his installation crew and support staff worked seamlessly together to provide us with an above-and-beyond customer service to go along with an exceptional installation of our new HVAC system! After receiving quotes from four (4) OBX-based HVAC companies for a new HVAC system (air handler & heat pump replacement), we chose Hersey and Norris Mechanical. Why? Because Hersey listened and understood what we were really trying to accomplish better than all the rest. We started out by asking all the HVAC companies to estimate a HVAC job that would include: * Replacing the heat pump and air handler * Relocating the heat pump from one side of the house to the other, and * Moving the air handler out of a closet and into the attic But what Hersey got (and none of the other companies did) is what we were really trying to do...restore the historical integrity of our mid-century beach cottage. Now with that insight, he suggested not only moving the heat pump and air handler, but also installing a brand new duct system in the attic (including cutting in eight [8] new registers. This gave us the ability to bring back the beamed ceilings throughout the house, which had been hidden under a clunky drop-down ceiling for nearly 20 years. Hersey also relocated our water heater to the other side of the house. So, when the dust settled he was able to move the entire HVAC system into attic, give us back our beamed ceilings, give us a larger heat pump than everybody else quoted and freed up two (2) closets for us. In a 1,000 sq foot cottage that's a BIG upgrade in storage space! And installing all Trane equipment (American made) was just more icing on the cake I could go on with how truly pleased and satisfied we are with the entire estimate and installation experience, but suffice it to say: if you are considering a HVAC installation, then you can do no better than Norris Mechanical! While their technicians botched a thermostat wiring, Stephanie's toxic attitude and total lack of empathy make her the primary reason to avoid this business.
