I'd been to Copenhagen before and had only vague memories of the airport, but we ended up spending a lot of time here on layovers this trip, definitely long enough to develop some opinions. Food options weren't great and we left the Carlsberg Aviator lounge within minutes, when we realized the kids were going to be a problem. That was after a hellish eleven-hour evening flight from Los Angeles, and my three-year-old son was completely loopy, irascible but also full of high-wire energy. I desperately looked up kid-friendly things to do in the Copenhagen airport and was pleased to find there were two indoor play areas. We went to both of them between our two layovers, and they were attractive in what felt like a Scandinavian way, wooden and well built and designed. They were good for some solid stretches of entertainment, though I admit my three-year-old got stuck up in a climbable "control tower" and I let him rot there while I sat and played games on my phone. The rest of the airport was nice, too, and the place seemed to run pretty smoothly. There were tons of small bathrooms, maybe even one at each gate, a system I hadn't seen before. Our flight out was through the E gates, which were somewhat remote, and that part of the airport was super quiet. No shopping and the only food option I found was a vending machine where I bought, of all things, a chicken teriyaki onigiri. Thankfully, one of the two play areas was right by our gate, and my boys passed the time going down a little slide and pretending to steer a stationary boat. I'd never recommend getting stuck at this or any airport with my children, but the Copenhagen airport was about as pleasant as it could've been, given the circumstances. I hope to fly there again, and preferably visit Copenhagen while I'm at it.

There are however two…read morespecific reviews (both from Denmark) that I have been sitting on a while to try and process before posting. This is one of them. Our experience at Copenhagen Airport (Air France) was incredibly disappointing. We were trying to arrange for wheelchair assistance for an older family member and the staff member overseeing the situation was dismissive, impatient, and just straight up rude. We were made to feel like we were an inconvenience rather than travelers needing assistance. What made the situation even more upsetting was watching the same staff member immediately become warm, smiley, and eager to help a local traveler who arrived just moments later. The contrast in treatment was impossible to ignore and left us questioning whether we were treated differently because we were foreigners, our family member's age, or both? Every traveler deserves to be treated with dignity, courtesy, and respect (especially those requiring mobility assistance, not to mention the elderly). The way we were treated fell far below what I would have expected from an international airport.

The price is very fair for the really convenient location. We took advantage of the free walking tour - which I highly recommend especially if you (like us) aren't too familiar with Danish history. The bar is very lively and convivial, ended up being a great place both to start and end our nights. It's not exactly a quiet hostel, but we didn't have any major issues. Towels and locks are not provided, so make sure to bring your own or purchase at check in. Staff are very friendly and helpful. I would stay again.

I stayed a night at their queen sized capsule, and found the experience satisfying overall. They…read moreoffer a wide variety of amenities - even ranging to charging adapters and bicycle rentals per 11 and 24 hours, most aren't free but are very reasonably priced. This hostel is a 15 minute walk to Strøget, a street lined with stores and interesting things. There is also a Købmand right across the street. There's a bar connected to the hostel, happy hour at 8-9 that offers three varieties of beverage deals for only 60 DKK; 1L of beer, two servings of liquor with a mixer of your choice, or 10 of each shot they have on offer. I had a rum and coke the evening I stayed, and there's always a different event every evening, I feel the whole concept of this place is innovative and geared towards keeping patrons amused. Shower is mostly sanitary, good water pressure, and though it is a popular hostel, I didn't experience having to wait my turn to shower / use the bathroom. There was always one available. The rooms where the capsules are seems to be quite safe, people leave their belongings around in the shared space, and everyone - at least in my experience - were friendly, respectful, and open to helping each other, the diversity of this place was a pleasant experience for me. Now onto the negatives... The LIVE musician on Tuesday, 18/4/23 (they had LIVE music every Tuesday night at the bar) was subpar. Volume over anything else, it seems. I sat and listened to him for about an hour, and I don't feel like he has much awareness, more so, control over his pitch - which is a common theme among hobby musicians. He's very much "guy who plays Wonderwall at parties", and not so much "Someone who gets paid actual money to entertain a crowd" The elevator is ancient. There's a novelty to it, which I truly and genuinely appreciate. But there are no indicators as to what is happening while you wait for the elevator. The button feels like a Fisher Price toy, and after you press it, nothing happens until it arrives - when does it arrive? Did you or did you not click the button properly? Only God and the building manager knows. It also says the elevator fits 4 people - I think that only counts if those 4 people are runway models... Unless you don't care about personal space, that is. The food... Oh god the food. For the price, you can definitely find better in town. I had pizza for 80 DKK, which is the standard price for it generally. The dough was soggy, like it had been made with hands that's cursed to never stop sweating. The slice, held up, was limp and sad, it wasn't great. In the morning I ordered a veggie toast with olives, that one was better, though the portions are small. But I recommend their toasts over the pizza. Check-in at reception was easy and quick, it was pleasant for us. But if you're landing from a long flight or arriving after a long commute in the evening (after 19:00), get ready to check-in at the bar, where the reception is, among loud and intoxicated customers. This isn't necessarily a negative, but I feel like it should be addressed. For 240 DKK a night, this hostel wasn't bad at all. But I feel the tagline "Copenhagen's Most Popular Hostel" can be misleading in that it fails to capture "perhaps it's popular due to the price, and not necessarily the overall quality". However I will definitely still recommend this hostel, while making sure you're aware of the uglier parts of it. Thanks for hosting us, Copenhagen Downtown Hostel :)

From the quaint, secluded entrance (which looks like it is on an alleyway but it was an actual street!) to the plant-filled, cozy courtyard to the room to the common areas, I was so impressed with this historic yet contemporary property! It was our first night in Europe, and to say we were jetlagged from our eight-hour transoceanic flight is putting it mildly. But as soon as my head hit the pillow on the comfortable bed I was off to la-la land! And the breakfasts! Oh the breakfasts! Absolute best and most elaborate and varied breakfast of the trip! I have never before or since seen such an assortment of foods and beverages, including cereals, hot foods, salads (yes, salads!), cheeses, meats, breads, pastries, you name it! And the coffee was divine! You got your own pot at your table. And the service was extremely attentive and friendly. Also they had a free happy hour from 4 to 6 with wines, beers, cocktails and non-alcoholic beverages that was just divine. They even helped us find free surface parking, next to impossible in downtown Kobenhavn! They also recommended a great restaurant district only a block or two walking distance away! The staff also spoke impeccable English and were quick with a smile or to answer any questions you had. The only slight complaint was how small the guest room (and especially bathroom therein) was, and the fact that there were some stairs and a pretty tiny elevator, but only by US standards as I later learned. You have to realize these cities and many of the buildings in them are hundreds of years old! In summary, to say I'd like to return soon to the Kong Arthur Hotel is putting it mildly!

Not to mention it was really close to Torvehallerne Square, which is around an eight-minute walk from the hotel. I arrived early, before check-in, and the reception staff offered to hold my luggage so I could explore the city. They give you a code and place it in a locked and video-monitored closet down in the basement. It was easy to do and safe for your belongings. After some exploring, I returned to the hotel around 4 PM and finally checked in. I was pleasantly surprised to find out that my single room had been upgraded to a larger room for free. I was stoked to hear that and loved the room and location they gave me. The room was beautifully furnished and was very clean! The only downside is the no AC. The temperature that day was in the low 60s (60-63 degrees). This may sound nice, but it was rather toasty in my room. They had a standing fan that, unfortunately, did not rotate, but it helped somewhat. They give you very heavy-duty duvets that are better for winter weather, but thankfully, I opened some of the windows in my room, which made it more bearable to sleep at night. The staff here was so friendly and accommodating. It's very close to plenty of sights, attractions, and restaurants. I would definitely stay here again. It's a beautifully decorated hotel, with lovely rooms and an excellent location.

It has 7 platforms and 13 tracks, making it the largest train station in Denmark. With 100,000 travelers per day, it is the second busiest in the country. Getting to it from the airport required taking the M2 line, transferring at Kongens Nytorv to the either the M3 or M4 line to get here. The journey took a little over 30 minutes, and the trains were relatively crowded on both the inbound and outbound. The cost was (30,00 DKK - $4.69 USD converted) for the one way. There are no gates of any sort, and I didn't see any security doing ticket checks. Read on-line that fines could be substantial. Since the trains to the airport run so frequently, didn't have a chance to admire/partake of the station. On my next longer visit, will linger a bit more.

It's rated a 2 star, and to be honest a 4 star hotel in Copenhagen is not worth it. Most hotels in Copenhagen are needing revamp. So I picked this on rave review on Yelp and trip. It's your standard small space for a hotel room in Europe/Asia. If you want more room, there are larger family rooms with a bedroom. You're in Europe.... hotels are different. But there's inventiveness in design of this hotel: it's utilitarian, each thing in the room has a function. As you settle in, you realize it took the designers lots time to tie a function to any innovation to the room. It's space age-y and it works, almost Clockwork Orange-y and comfy. The layout here is also similar to hotels you'd find in Japan..... very ZEN! The breakfast is a typical Scandinavian/German spread: musli, cereal, yoghurt, 2 -3 charcuterie items, (the pate was super yummy on a seeded bread), cheese, Danish butter, nutella, fruit, boiled eggs, coffee, juice. WIFI was solid and encrypted. Visits: 1 (4 nights) Tip: Ask for a 12th floor, or high corner room, 2 windows (small fee) and look at the entire city. Skies are beautiful in København and love the top floor views here. To get to the metro/trains you walk 7-10 min. Theres a bus stop 2 blocks away. A block a way where the Tivoli Hotel is there are free shuttles and a real bus stop. There are 2 branches of this hotel, pick this one (Carsten Niebuhrs Gade) because it's close to the Tivoli Gardens, main train station and accessible to many attractions. The garbage can was annoying to use because you had to press to squeeze it open and didn't feel sanitary. Also, our towels had trouble drying even if they were hanging all day. Walls are very thin.
