I traveled into Cleveland today to source a proper lunch spot, and I happened upon an absolute perfection of a venue. It possesses a wonderfully rustic, classic Cowboy aesthetic that feels entirely authentic. While the venue is beautifully un-modern, it possesses a magnificent charm that effortlessly transports you back to the old days. The exterior facade is completely captivating. Now, the interior lighting is admittedly quite dark which was a minor drawback for my taste but the exceptional caliber of the staff more than compensated for it. The service was utterly flawless. My server took absolute, meticulous care of me throughout the afternoon. She anticipated my every need, starting with a beautifully poured drink, which was a deeply appreciated touch of hospitality that set a wonderful tone for the meal. For my entree, I ordered the BBQ nachos, and they were prepared to absolute perfection. Every single detail of my experience was handled with the utmost care and professionalism. After reading reviews from over a half a year ago to 7 years ago I figured I would go and give a updated review. We are not from the area, just visiting. That being said the place has a really cool vibe. Interior design and collectibles everywhere make you smile thinking of old times. It feels like a family environment for sure. The old reviews complain of the service. But being from the west coast we expect slower service and just slower overall experience with restaurants in the south. Or anything in the south to be honest. If you don't have a hour to spend then do not eat here. Service was good. The staff are hard workers, probably understaffed compared to our west coast style of restaurants but it was nice not to be rushed. Food was good. For appetizers we had the best fried pickles. For diner we had the catfish, the fried shrimp and a few of the sides. Catfish was really good. Just good southern style fried food. Beer is ice cold! Would go back for sure. Has a bar and pool table area in the back but it's all family friendly. Good place to visit for sure. 3/4/26 Let's just say I've never felt so disregarded in a restaurant before. I sat at the bar during lunch hoping to get faster service. At the time, there were only two other people seated. I waited for about 40 minutes and was never acknowledged once. The waitress walked past me at least four times without greeting me, asking if I needed anything, or even making eye contact. During that same time, she checked on the couple next to me multiple times--taking their order, refilling their drinks, and even greeting another person who joined their table. She also took a phone order right in front of me while I was still sitting there waiting. I've heard people talk about negative experiences at this restaurant before, but until today I had never personally experienced anything like it. Unfortunately, today changed that for me. No customer should feel invisible or ignored when they walk into a place of business. read more

Had an awful meal there 2 days ago. I had a "shrimp poboy" that had 3 frozen shrimp in it, zero taste, except it tasted frozen. They had a tomato on it....on a poboy? Bread was some spongy substance. Nothing comes with it, no side. So I ordered a $3 side of cole slaw. The tiny portion was swimming in mayonnaise and almost inedible, awful. To add insult to injury, the prices are not the same as on website and to add insult to that when you get your bill, the prices do not even match the printed menu! It I think this place survives because it is one of the only non-chain restaurants in Cleveland and on its bar. The "famous" iced tea tasted like instant. The whole thing was off and a waste of $20. The people working in there are pleasant. But our server was beyond slow and the restaurant really wasn't that busy. Wonderful hidden in plain sight gem! I have visited Cleveland MS over 10 times and always seen this restaurant, but never knew it was a restaurant. So I was on my way back to Cali on my birthday and was going to have lunch with a friend who lives there. She gave me a few choices, being I had never been here, I chose the Airport Grocery. Dang, I forgot to ask for free birthday dessert! The desserts in the window display looked sumptuous, but I didn't try. I arrive first and was quickly greeted and seated. My friend came about 3 minutes later and we began catching up. Unfortunately no one came to our table to take my drink order or anything for more than 5 minutes. We eventually flagged down a waitress who was attending to another customer who mind you had come in after me and asked her who our server was. She said she would get us someone. When our server finally came she was the sweetest thing. I don't know what the problem was, but she made us feel special and she was very attentive. From that point on there were no issues. I asked her what was good at the restaurant she recommended a few things and we both decided on the grilled chicken sandwich with the sweet potato fries. Recently took a an out-of-town group to Airport Grocery and we had a good time! Love the vintage vibe of the place and that they have a separate room for groups. While we could have used two waitresses for our group, the one we did have was super nice and hustled. Our food did take a minute - but for a group it wasn't unusual. I have been here several times. It has gotten real slow since the last time I reviewed it. The food is great -when you finally receive it. I like to order their hot tamales or BBQ sandwich here. Both are delicious. However, the customer service has gone down here. They are slow. Once, I got up to pay. To when do this, you walk up front to the counter and pay. The cashier was near the bar talking to the manager or someone and she saw me. But, she just looked at me and kept talking or listening to her manager. In fact, she looked at me several times. She made me stand at cash register for probably 10 to 15 minutes before she finally came. Then, she was real slow about ringing me up. There have been other instances of slow service here but this was not acceptable. Thus, 5 stars to 3 stars. The only reason, they are getting 3 stars is because the food is good when you receive it. Also, my waitress at the last visit was very unprofessional at being a waitress. She does not know how to talk to people. She didn't check back on me either after delivering my order. We were told this was going to be a great place to eat. We were so disappointed. We waited an hour for our appetizer which was just a cheese and sausage plate. Then almost 2 hours for our food. No one ordered anything difficult. Several things were cold when it finally came out. I asked for a manager and it took her almost 15 minutes to come to the table. She said we were supposed to be told that it was going to be an hour for food, We were not. The manager only offered a free dessert then seeing my husband's face offered 20% off the bill. I asked for "diet water" to which the server giggled. When she came to get my order I indicated that the ice was "obviously not made with diet water" to which she jokingly apologized, took my cup and brought it back refilled with diet water and the ice was made from diet water. We ordered our food together but no one received their food at the same time it was a 30-45 min difference between when the food was received. My order took so long my appetizer came out same time as my entree. I had to ask for drinks and silverware after sitting there for an hour waiting on my order. No server asked were we ok or if we needed assistance and my food was placed in a to go container because it was received last after everyone else had finished and we're leaving but I was still charged a made up tax and an automatic gratuity. So I walked in the door and a sign said "please wait to be seated." So I stood in front of the sign, waiting to be seated. A group of five ahead of me were seated. The Hostess walked past me to a couple who came in five minutes after I did, and promptly sat them. She returned and walked by me and I got her attention, and she said "yes, may I help you?" I said "I'm here to eat" and she said "oh, I thought maybe you were up here paying.". I said "no I'm not paying I haven't eaten yet and I noticed you sat two people before me who arrived after I did." She replied "OK, so do you want a table? I replied " so am I supposed to walk into a restaurant and announce that I am here to eat"? She then asked me "how many of you are there?"I replied "there's only one of me do you see more?' At that point I was so perplexed that I knew I would not enjoy the meal and left, never to return. read more

The food is good but a little overpriced for what you get. I have not really had a problem with the food anyway. My issue is with the waitresses. They act so scatterbrained most of the time. They do not listen to what is being requested and don't return often enough to bring refills. My advice is that if they want to receive decent tips, they need to be less scatterbrained and take care of the customers. I know most are high school and college students who don't think they should have to work, but don't they know this is really part of their education? I mean, they need to learn how to work for other people and how to please customers. I don't know too many people who get out of college and go straight to being millionaires, and if they do, they need to be investigated. So here is a summary for the waitresses: - Act like you are happy to be working there. - Listen to the customers. - Bring refills (full glasses) in a timely manner. I don't like it when they take my glass away to refill it. It is unsanitary, to say the least! - Try to do things right. I am not looking for perfection, but doing things right takes no more effort than doing things wrong. In fact, doing it right leads to less effort by not having to correct mistakes.
