The driver could have taken 95N to the very next exit but chose to take the street. He asked after passing the exit if I wanted him to take the exit. At the airport, the meter read $14.70 he then drove pass the drop off, into the parking area and charged me $25. He claimed it was for taxes and the parking lot fee. Airport Taxi charged me $26.11 for a 10 minute ride from the airport that was less than 5 miles from my house. If I had chosen Uber it would have cost me $12.73 . NO wonder people prefer Uber or Lyft to taxis. I would never call Airport Taxi again!! read more

On my trip leaving the airport, I hit no problems. The fixed route Providence shuttle left on the hour as it said it would, and while once an hour isn't very frequent, TF Green is a small airport so it's forgivable. $11 to downtown Providence is not bad, and it arrived on time. The shuttle was clean, the driver was pleasant, and in a rarity for me, I even talked with a random cute stranger on the shuttle. Granted, she was only talking to me because she forgot to pack her Blackberry, was in a panic about how she was going to meet up with her party and knew I would know where to find an internet kiosk when we arrived, but still it passed the time. Unfortunately for all involved, this is not the end of the story. On my way back, on the instructions of the administration line I'd called to confirm due to roads being closed for Brown University's graduation, I needed to walk down the hill to the Biltmore. I arrived about 10 minutes before the shuttle was supposed to arrive, and noticed it was already there. I got on, and it left 2 minutes later. Now, I understand times can be approximate even though a fixed route timetable is clearly posted on the website and they insist reservations are not required, but there were only 3 people on the shuttle that seats 10+ and it clearly states that the shuttle arrives back at the airport on the hour so there's no real reason to want to arrive early. Especially on a day when roads are closed and Airport Taxi is asking people to go to a different stop, it is safe to assume that people will be running slightly late, and leaving the stop more than 5 minutes early when the next shuttle isn't coming for an hour is just irresponsible. Compounding this was the fact that the shuttle itself said "Aero Airport Shuttle" and I wasn't sure for a second if I was engaging in the unsolicited ride acceptance behavior that the airport terminal recordings always admonish. Part of what I'm paying $11 for instead of taking a RIPTA bus is a level of comfort that I'm going to get to/from the airport on time, and in that, Airport Taxi failed to deliver. Called Airport Taxi approx 1-2 weeks before our trip in April 2014. Told me no need to make a reservation. Called the night beFOre my trip to let them know we would need a 5:15am pick up. I was told no problem. At 5:40am the next morning we finally got in our own car and drove to the airport. I called them approx 6-8 times from 5:20am til 5:40am, I could not get a human, just an answering machine. I left a few messages, not understanding how a 24/7 advertised business did not answer the phone for 20 minutes. VERY disappointed. I believe it is because we live close to the airport they did not come because the fare would be low. Not worth their time. When we returned from vacation we had 1 missed call from them at around 5:55 that morning. No message, no apology......not a good way to run a business. read more

NOT AFFILIATED WITH THE AIRPORT!! I ordered a taxi for a 4:45AM pickup to take me to the airport and they never showed up. I had to drive myself to the airport so I wouldn't miss my flight and pay 200 dollars in parking tickets. When I got ahold of the manager to complain, he said they were not affiliated with the airport and that they would give me a free ride from the airport when I returned. He didn't understand that MY CAR WAS AT THE AIRPORT! They were very unprofessional on the phone and it sounded like they run the business out of the "managers" apartment. Steer clear! read more

I stay at a local hotel near the airport whenever I come up to Rhode Island and Airport Taxi always picks me up and takes me back for my flights. I even have them come at four am for an early flight and they are always waiting for me downstairs at the hotel. They are friendly, very fair with their prices and their taxis are always spotless. I use them mainly because they are so dependable. read more

Worst service you can get is from this company specially if you are traveling with infants/children.. Our flight arrived late at night 11:00 PM, waited in line for more than half an hour to find out that they will not take infants if we don't have an infant seat and they don't have an infant seat to give either. Driver called his boss to ask if they have infant seats available, the guy who looked like a hippo came out and bluntly said we can't take infant....the tone wasn't courteous. I end up taking the taxi alone and driving back to the airport to pick up my wife and kids. Only service at the airport and their attitude is unbearable. If there would be more competitors they may improve the service. I recommend spending more money to call for another pick up service. never use them you will be disappointed. read more

The "not recommended" reviews are actually pretty accurate. Since it is the only cab allowed to pick people up at TF Green, there are frequent long waits for cabs at the airport. If it is cold, late, or you are in a hurry, recommend finding a car service. Going to the airport, you need to call in 24-36 hours in advance. They are such a small company that there are not enough cars to meet demand. I used Bay Taxi last time to get to airport and the driver was on time and friendly. read more

Had a recent bad experience with Airport Taxi. Called early enough to have a cab pick us up to get to TF Green Airport. 15 mins after the schedule pick-up and no taxi, I called and the dispatcher said he will be there in (5)minutes. I said I hope so as it was getting close to our flight time. (15) mins later, we get a call from the cab driver asking where we live after I had already gave the directions twice to the dispatcher. (10)mins later, still no cab. We finally just left with our car and had to pay to leave it at a shuttle service company which cost us $80 !! Stood up at 4:30AM! I ordered the taxi the evening before at 8:20 pm to pick us up for 4:30 the next morning to go to the airport. When I gave the gentlemen all our information and my cell, he said "Ok, you are all set for 4:30 tomorrow morning". I called yesterday to reserve a taxi for 4:45am today. 4:45am - no taxi. Call and get a machine that says "This is Barry" - wait, what? Call back - someone answers "Airport Taxi" and says they'll be there in "5-10" minutes. 15 minutes go by, it's now 5am and still no cab - call back - get Barry's voice mail again - call 2 more times and someone finally picks up - he radios the driver - he's on our street! Finally here! Well, thanks to them being 15 minutes late, we missed our flight by 4 minutes. I do not recommend this company and if you do use them, make sure to reserve for 15 minutes before you actually need them to pick you up. read more

This taxi service made my husband and my experience to the airport at 5 o'clock in the morning a breeze. Our driver was kind courteous and very helpful with the luggage. We also looked for the same taxi service when we returned home at the airport... luckily there was one waiting for us LOL. I'm currently a student at Brown University, and my flight arrived from my hometown to Providence. I was looking for a cheap alternative to getting to Brown, as it usually costs $30 dollars. Luckily, I was not in a rush, so I waited for the Providence Shuttle Bus-the pass every hour on the dot. I paid $11 dollars for what is usually a $30 ride. The bus driver from the Providence Shuttle was so nice and generous. You can bring luggage, and they help you take it off from the shuttle. I've taken the Providence Shuttle a few times, the first couple of times I had a relatively pleasant experience. The last handful left me bitter and unwilling to use this service ever again. It is frequently late and they don't post changes in their schedule online. What really put me off was when I went to take it the last time, the man at the counter told me to pay the driver outside. I approached the driver and told him that I was instructed to pay him. The ride costs $11.00 and all I had were twenties (my grocery money). I asked if he had change and he responded with, "It depends on how much you want to tip me." Which threw me off guard because I'm accustomed to tipping at the end of the ride. I was flustered and asked, "Tip?" Which seems like a dumb thing to say, but I wasn't sure how to react. He said that people tip him $5.00 (typically the tip for a shuttle is around $2.00, from what I understand). "So," he continued,"I'll just give you back $3.00, okay?" I didn't know what to say, so I just said, "I guess so." I left feeling incredibly stupid and targeted as a female student. I used to suggest this service to fellow students because it made me feel safe and was cheaper than a cab, but I never will suggest it or take it again. I'll just stick to the bus. read more

I needed a ride home from an airport hotel in Warwick RI at 9AM on a weekday. I called Airport Taxi and they said they would be there in five minutes and they were. The driver was polite, didn't drive me nuts with small talk which I appreciated because I'm very hard of hearing and it's difficult for me. They had no problem with my small dog who was in a carrier and they take credit cards. The cab was was very clean, the ride smooth and safe. I would gladly call this company again. These guys run pretty much the only shuttle between the airport and downtown hotels. They advertise it as an easy cheap hourly shuttle that is an alternative to expensive taxi service. Kind of. Their desk is hidden in the corner with no signs while the person who is manning it is sitting in a back room and looks pissed every time he has to get up and help someone. The shuttle is never on time and apparently now decides to randomly skip hotels when it feels like. I stood outside my hotel for 45 minutes waiting to be picked up until I finally called and was told that I had obviously missed the shuttle because it had been by. I explained to the gentleman that I had not left the curb for the entire time and no one had driven by. Instead, he did call me a taxi, charged me the full taxi rate of $30+ instead of the $11 shuttle. Come to find out later, both the shuttle and taxi company are operated by the same people. I have used them for too long now. First, I travel a lot and no other airport in the world gives a monopoly to one cab company for airport pick-up, and it is not uncommon for them to run out of cabs causing wait time at the curb. Second, the are inconsistent with being on time for home pick-up. At least 2-3 times over the past few years I have had to take my own car so as not to miss my flight. Third, as of June, 2015, the fares have gone through the roof. Jumped 25-30% overnight with all these surcharges. When the are on time, they are fine, but due to the factors above, they are a high-charged risk. read more

Don't rely on it. Both ways we missed for multiple reasons. After that it was SHRUG! sorry - can't help you. I realize providence isn't the biggest city, but as a community, they need to work out a better system. The cab we DID get was just a couple bucks more (for 2 people) But the guy did almost kill us, cussed all over his cell phone, and drug his personal problems into the cab. This isn't an indictment on this company as much as it is on the whole shuttle-to-downtown-and-back experience. This service is a rip off only taxi allowed in airport for outgoing taxi service. I called to get to airport the dispather is very cocky. asked where i was going to anf from when he found out it was only a few miles stated he could not help me to call someone else. on my way home i was charged a different amount than what was shown on the meter. he also took me way out of the way to get back to my house. he went the longest way possible and then some. I finally had to say something about the route he took. it cost me 8 dollars more to get home than it took to get there. I will never use this service again. when i called the admisnistrative offices let message they never called back I called dispath and the same cocky guy gave me grief when i simply asked about the difference in the meeter. terrible that they pull this giving RI a bad name I will be calling dept of bus.reg as well as local news and the BBB.
