WHY I LOVE MY SPINAL CORD STIMULATOR!!!!! I have CRPS. I…read morenever heard of this condition until I was diagnosed with it 2 years ago. I lived in tremendous pain for 5 years. I went from one orthopedic surgeon to the next, and the next and the next.... for those 5 years. Not one surgeon seemly understood why I could pick the worst pain in my foot. All the doctors I saw agreed my foot was in terrible condition, with multiple SERIOUS problems. They all confirmed I needed multiple surgery. But that was not possible. Every surgeon claimed that they could not preform all the surgeries on everything that was wrong with my foot. They stated, "a bomb went off in my foot", "If I fixed everything that was wrong with your foot it would take 12 hours on the operating table", If I repair everything you will never be able to walk again". The question that all the surgeon presented to me was, "where doe it hurt the most"? I couldn't answer that, My entire foot hurt, every where, all the time, and differently. It could change multiple times a day. The only thing that I knew to be true was the pain was constant, and at time unbearable. The pain was like giving birth to my feet almost every day. I seriously was losing hope. I cried a lot! I finally went to UTSW to see Dr.Dane Wukich, the head of Orthopedics. He knew what was wrong. He referred me to Dr. Bhatla. That is where my story changes. I was told about the Abbott spinal cord stimulator. At first, I was so afraid to get the device. I looked on line and saw the reviews. I scared myself out of it, but honestly the pain was so intense it was like, "What do I have to lose?" I just jumped in with all my fears and did it a year and a half ago. I have never been so happy I did something in my entire life. My pain was manageable after I decided to take a leap of blind faith. I still have pain, but not like it was. I have never had a pain level of a 9 in my feet again after I got the device. I have referred 4 of my friends that lived with high levels of daily pain. They all know me well and saw the difference in my life. Everyone of the got the implant. They all are very happy with the results. They all have different results, but they all have less, and one friend has NO MORE PAIN. I seriously can not understand why anyone living with chronic pain does not want a stimulator. It works better than pain medication. I know. I truly know! I have to adjust my stimulator at times and it knocks out pain better than any medication can.

Not upfront about cost. Unnecessary testing they try to…read morehold patients responsible for. A UDS over the counter is $20 at Walgreens for a pack of 4. They sent me a bill for over $300 for a UDS I did not need. I was 7 months pregnant referred by my chiropractor when adjustments, acupuncture, hot and cold applications were not working. I was informed when in the exam room that I needed to provide a UDS. However, I was not informed how expensive this test was going to be at all! Had I been informed about the crazy cost, I would have gone somewhere else. When relaying this to the office, they continued to use blanket statements and tell me there was a medical need for this. How? Patient comes in requesting imaging and localized steroids if possible. Patient denies request for any controlled substances and is actively pregnant. Dr. is unable to do any interventions except PT referral. I have no issues doing a UDS. But 700??? That is a conversation you need to disclose to patients. That is unacceptable and poor business practice. Destiny who originally made my appointment was superb. Nursing staff was kind. NP or PA under original physician on my second appointment was fantastic. HOWEVER, office as a whole and provider very unhappy with how they handle business.

****4 MONTH UPDATE*********…read more I feel so much better after finding Advocate Wellness and I hope this review inspires someone else to take the plunge. Since my time with Dr. Nelson I am happy to report that I am not only free of all the original aches and pains I came in with but my nervous system is SIGNIFICANTLY more regulated. Praise God! I personally love that it was all done without the use of any pharmaceutical Intervention- again Amen! I originally came in with a laundry list of problems such as; hip pain/sciatica down my leg, numbness and tingling down my arms, my jaw was constantly bothering me. I was confident I had TMJ. But no, just needed a skilled Chiro. Dr. Nelson was not only able to rid me of ALL the original pains I came with but I felt 70% better within the first few sessions and that's really just the tip of the iceberg of my experience here. Sadly, I realized how normal pain had become to me and I had gotten used to living like that. Even worse I accepted it. Part of your education there is learning how you're supposed to feel and according to Dr. Nelson and his approach to health, you should wake up feeling amazingly! And now I do!! Not only do I feel better physically but a lot more emotionally balanced as well. I continue to see him about once a month to help with any new aches or pains and mostly to keep this nervous system of mine in check. I feel more balanced and can identify things before it gets out of hand. In summary- I just feel grateful to have found Dr. Nelson. He is a wonderful and very skilled and knowledgeable Chiropractor. I hope more people go and get relief! You will not regret it. I'm so glad I did. Also- his bed side manner needs to be studied, recorded and taught to the masses. He really cares about finding whole body healing and if he's not the right fit for you, he's not going to waste your time.
