Working with Alex from AIS was a wonderful experience. He is honest, meticulous, and great to work with. He has a polite demeanor and easily approachable. His crew always showed up when he said they would. Alex always answered our calls or returned our messages promptly. This was a huge issue with past contractors. The only issue I had was his time estimation, which he tended to under-estimate. But unfortunately, that is expected in this industry. We did a two condo apartment combination, gut renovation of the addition, kitchen removal of the addition (capping of gas lines and water pipes), and kitchen renovation in original apartment. With any issue that would arise, he would promptly address and fix. Would I use him again? Yes, in a heart beat.

We are thrilled with what Alex and his team did in our apartment! I found AIS (Alex) on Yelp after talking with 5 different contractors and not loving everything they offered. After reading all of the reviews for AIS, I loved the comments and pictures of his work so decided to reach out - and now I'm paying it forward by leaving a review of my own. We had a long initial phone call - he walked my husband and I through EVERYTHING. His price was fair, along with his timeline. We initially started with just renovating the bathroom which he told us would take 3-4 weeks. We trusted him with the work he was doing and the knowledge he had, so we ended up adding on replacing all of the doors and painting the entire apartment! This added on time to the project - but that was entirely on us. Throughout the process, whenever we had a question about something or something needed to be fixed, he made sure his team was on it. It's hard to find someone in NYC that isn't ridiculously overpriced and does good work. We were lucky to find alex and his team and we love the result!

**STOP LOOKING** "Alex and AIS Repairs & Renovations should be your contractor!" The wife and I decided to do a complete renovation of our 600 sqft apartment in Manhattan in August 2020. This included replacing our squeaky and uneven wood floors (and sub-floor), complete kitchen renovation, replacing the steam-heat covers, A/Cs, mud-area, doors, LED lighting, wall removal, and paint all -around. We interviewed around 5 different contactors, some with specific specialties in wood floors, or just kitchens, or just paint, and found that Alex and AIS not only provided us a very competitive price, but walked us through every aspect of the process, was very professional, and worked with us on materials, discussing the pros/cons of our choices. Alex and his team handled all the communication with the Board, management company, and the super of our building, following all COVID protocols and ensuring all parties fully understood the work...what a pro! The work started mid August and was planned to finish in 6-8 weeks, around the end of September. The project actually ended two weeks behind schedule, not due to anything Alex did, but his cabinet maker having to re-do a cabinet was wasn't perfect. And Alex made sure everything was perfect. At the end of the day the total cost of the renovation was around $45k and turned out perfect! Others wanted close to $100k...are you kidding me?! Again, if you are looking for a contactor that you can trust, look no further and just hire AIS!

Working with Alex and his team was one of the best decisions my husband and I could've made with our kitchen renovation earlier this year. Since our apartment building is over 100 years old there were a lot of complications (i.e. active gas pipes in the walls and ceilings, curved corners, dumbwaiter, amateur electrical work, old water pipes, lack of outlet/light switch, etc) and we wanted to make sure we brought in someone who was able to tackle these issues with confidence. When we first met with Alex he came by with his designer and took meticulous notes and measurements in his notebook, taking note of our vision and ideal layout (including new builds and features) and most importantly our budget. Within 24 hours he sent out a full mock-up of the proposed kitchen design and a full cost breakdown. We reached out to 3-4 other contractors and no one came even close to the level of service and detail - it was a no brainer for us and the easiest decision we've made when it came to our home. The president of our co-op and our super also requested to meet with Alex to make sure he understood the full history of the building and what would need their approval and Alex obliged, instilling full confidence in them as well before the project began. Alex and his team were always on time, professional, and respectful of our space; our super would stop by from time to time to inspect the work (since we were at work during the daytime) and he said he could tell the workers employed by Alex were skilled and familiar with renovation best practices. Overall, we couldn't be happier with our renovation with Alex and his team and we feel incredibly lucky to have had such a non-stressful beginning-to-end experience. The before and after pictures can speak for themselves. Highly recommend!

We purchased a coop unit in Jackson Heights Queens that needed to be fully renovated. I knew I needed to find someone to help me to renovate the bathrooms, electrical, wood floors, and some parts of the kitchen. After finding AIS Repairs & Renovations and speaking to Alex, I knew I had found the right person for the job because of the way he talked me through his process. He helped me get through the coop approval board by providing the necessary paperwork required to get the green light and start the work. I worked with Alex to plan out exactly what needed to be done for our two bathrooms as well as the other areas in the apartment. I really appreciated his flexibility and patience during the entire process as some things deviated from the original plan. My coop building had strict guidelines for the work and Alex's team followed them all. The entire common area was protected using Masonite boards to prevent any damage during demolition and garbage removal. His team also helped me get rid of the old appliances which would have been a big headache for me to do on my own. Alex fully renovated our two bathrooms from start to finish and we are very satisfied with the results. It's modern, simple and fits our style. Javier was assigned to my project and was there daily. He was nice and it was a pleasure working with him. His tile work is excellent and precise. The wooden floors were in bad conditions and Aldo, Alex's floor guy, helped fix it. The floors turned out amazing. Willy, Alex's electrician, helped run all new electrical lines for the kitchen and converted the old fuse box to a new breaker panel. It was also fun having Willy around. He was easy to talk to. Alex's plumber, Gabriel, also helped me with water/gas plumbing in the kitchen and appliance hookup. His team moved the gas line to where the new stove would be which we originally thought was not going to be possible. I was so happy that they were able to do that as it meant that I did not have to change my kitchen plans. Finally Gabriel helped me setup a rather complicated kitchen faucet which was a pain, I imagine, to install. Overall, I would highly recommend Alex and his crew at AIS Repairs & Renovations for your next project.

AIS helped us completely renovate 2 bathrooms, as well as add fixtures and electrical to the kitchen. Alex was amazing, he has restored my faith in contractors after a few recent bad experiences. Simply stated, he was professional, honest and fair, and I could not have asked for anyone better. Throughout the entire duration of the project, he was also very patient and I felt I could always reach out to him with any questions. If I needed him to stop by to discuss anything in person he made himself available, as busy as he is. His crew was also amazing. They are superstars in my opinion, and showed great attention to detail. They did not get annoyed or impatient with my many questions, and always asked me for input no matter how small the decision might appear to be. If I was ever unsure, we would all discuss the pros and cons of all the options, such as direction of tiles, or placement of the hand shower head. Overall I highly recommend AIS. Thank you, Alex!

Alex and his team helped us with a full bathroom renovation and built a custom media center. Alex was incredibly responsive throughout the entire process, and you could tell that he really cared about his work. He is very experienced checked in often to make sure all the small details were right. We had a very complicated renovation, but Alex had great recommendations and advice on what changes were possible / worth doing. Most importantly, Alex picked up every single one of our calls and texted us back within minutes. Highly recommend Alex and his team! -------------------- In addition to the bathroom renovation, Alex also helped us build a custom TV media console with a built in electric fireplace and LED lights!

We closed on buying our apartment in the middle of the pandemic when cases had taken a downturn and NY was still closed. The apartment seemed like it had never been renovated or maybe since the 70s due to the décor, we wanted a fresh modern look which meant we had to gut out the kitchen and the two bathrooms. Prior to the board approval, we had four quotations and had discussed with all the contractors and it was a matter of making a decision of who to move on with. Alex came on top of the list and the criteria we used to make a decision was based on confidence, knowledge, resume and cost. Renovations started early in June and Alex had a whole team working on each and every corner of the apartment. We did not go with a designer as it would have consumed time which we didn't have and cost which we wanted to save on. Alex is very communicative and any challenge we had designing or buying the fixtures and fittings he supported the process. He communicated how soon he required items i.e. tiles, bathroom fixtures, paint color, appliances etc. He was available to us almost 14hrs a day discussing solutions to challenges he faced in the renovations. Every evening we went over to the apartment to see the progress and we had a chance to interact with his team who were friendly and provided brief updates on what they were doing. The stairs and hallway into the apartment were not cleaned perfectly initially though after the floors were sanded the cleanliness improved. After hearing horror stories from friends and neighbors how long their renovations took we can only say the opposite. The renovations took slightly longer than 2 months with the tight schedule that we had which was amazing compared to one contractor who budgeted 4 months for the same job. We definitely recommend AIS Renovations you will definitely be pleased with the outcome.

Let me start off this review by saying that I am a perfectionist and am extremely detail oriented. I searched through YELP and found that AIS Repairs had over 40 reviews with most of them being 5 star reviews. I was intrigued and called Alex to schedule a meeting. He arrived on time and prepared with his Marble notebook to take copious notes on what I wanted done. I was impressed by how professional, articulate, and clear he was when we discussed our project. He knows how to breaks down things in a way that most people who know nothing about plumbing, electricity, and basically anything to do with construction will understand. Let me share that I interviewed a total of 11 contractors before I decided on Alex. Only Alex and one other contractor provided me with an itemized estimate of everything I wanted done. Most contractors that I dealt with would just throw out a 5 figure estimate without itemizing the cost of each task involved in the project. This is extremely helpful when trying to compare estimates from different contractors. Based on his reviews and professionalism, I chose Alex to renovate my two bathrooms. Even though they are both small in size, it was a huge undertaking given the large scope of my project. Both bathrooms were completely demolished, required new green wall boarding and all of the walls were tiled from the floor to the ceiling. I had a lot of complex components installed in my shower bathroom which consisted of a rain shower, regular shower, hand held shower with adjustable arm, and four body sprays, as well as, a toilet with a washlet and towel warmer. In the second bathroom, they had to replace the tub and tiled the front of the tub in a herringbone pattern using mother of pearl tiles. I would say that Alex is moderately priced. There are some cheaper contractors than him but I have learned that cheap means you end up paying more in the end. Throughout the entire project, Alex was always available to communicate with me, took the time to listen to my concerns, helped me decide which products to use, and offered me suggestions I hadn't thought of. I am so happy that he talked me out of tiling the ceiling. Sure it would have been more money for him, but that's not what Alex is about. He takes pride in his work and helping his clients achieve their dream bathroom. When I was out of town for a week, he would face-time me to ask me how I wanted my tiles laid out. He did not rush through my renovation to maximize his profit. If something went wrong, which things always will, he made sure to make things right. For instance, I bought a towel warmer that was too large for the bathroom and the door bumped into it. Alex did not hesitate to take down the tile warmer and retile that section to fit a smaller tile warmer. He is also very honest and respectful to women. One time I overpaid him, and he returned the money to me and asked me to recount it and I was over by a few hundred dollars. I was so impressed by how his guys tiled my bathrooms that I asked him to tile my kitchen. My kitchen tiles turned out be more complex than Alex had estimated and took much more time to clean off the excess grout because of all of the grooves. Despite the time and work, Alex did not try to charge more money for it. Of course, I did the right thing and let him keep the money for not tiling one of my bathroom ceilings to make up the difference. It has been three months since we finished our projects and I am extremely happy with the quality of the work AIS did in my apt. If you just look at a pic of my outlets, you will see how all of the screw grooves are aligned. I appreciate this attention to detail. Alex and his crew try to do things right and make the whole process a pleasant experience. Unlike other contractors, he is always available when you need him and checks on his crew daily. I could go on and on about home much I enjoyed working with them but I don't think you want to read much more. I feel I most share one more experience. I had three separate crews working on my apt at the same time and his crew was courteous towards the others even when the others weren't. They knew how to share space and communicate with each other. I will definitely call on Alex again for any future projects.

My wife and I were looking to remodel the bathroom in our Kew Gardens co-op. Searching for a good contractor is difficult on its own, but finding one who can provide all the documentation and required licenses for a co-op Board to approve provides an additional level of complexity. Many of the contractors I reached out to were very slow in responding and providing quotes, until I found Alex and AIS. He responded to my inquiry very quickly and scheduled time to stop by to check out the bathroom. When Alex came to scope out the work, he told us exactly what would be required in great detail. He also promised to send a quote with an itemized document highlighting all the work needed the next day. Knowing the response time of the contractors I had been in touch with, I was very skeptical. However, the very next day I received that documentation. It was extremely organized and particularly helpful in understanding how the quote was constructed. It was also a huge help in describing the scope of the work to our Board, limiting the number of questions they had during the approval process. Alex also stressed that the quote is his price and that he would not be adjusting it at all if we went with him. This was a point he stressed multiple times, and was 100% true. There were no surprise fees or costs at the end of the job. After witnessing Alex's professionalism, attention to detail, and his fast response time, we knew we found our contractor. The Board approval process was extremely simple with Alex. I provided him with the Building's Alteration Agreement, and I received all required licenses and Certificates of Insurance in a timely manner. There was no missing documentation that I needed to go back and get from him, and the Certificate of Insurance documents were provided correctly. This allowed us to very quickly get the approval we needed. Alex and his staff also did a great job of communicating with our building staff, including doormen and the Super. There were no surprises or complaints from building management, staff, or our neighbors during the entire job. The job itself also went well, and Alex's crew is extremely professional and hard working. The job was a complete remodel, including demolition, new walls, tiling, the works. It took 3 weeks, and they showed up around 8:30 AM every morning, and did not leave until around 5:30-6. The workers did a great job of keeping the place as clean as they could. They covered up the floors with cardboard, and the doorways/entrances with plastic to limit the amount of dust that moved throughout the apartment. They even covered up the hallway on our floor. 2 of our neighbors actually mentioned that they were impressed with how diligent they were in keeping it clean. Every aspect of the job went well, from the demo, the plumbing, to the tiling. After our last payment was made, we noticed a few minor items that needed touching up: there was a small leak from the shower doors, so some additional silicone needed to be added around our shower door. The cardboard that was placed to protect our wood floors was placed with blue tape, which also pulled off the finishing in some spots. Alex had someone come the very next day to fix the floors and the leak. If I had to give one piece of constructive criticism, that would be the communication around our project's completion date. At the beginning of our second week of work, we were told that the job would be complete on Thursday, with finishing touches on Friday. That was then moved to Friday, with finishing touches on Monday. The job ended up going into the next week, and finishing up on Friday. It took 3 weeks total. However, Alex offered to provide us with a hotel room and to stop by over the weekend and temporarily set up the shower. We were lucky enough to be staying with my parents, so didn't take him up on those offers, but I was extremely impressed that he offered. At the end of the day, we personally had no issue with the time it took to complete the job. This is a major job that requires care. Alex's guys were by no means working slowly. They got there early, worked late, and were working the entire day. The job just ended up taking slightly longer than anticipated. My #1 priority was high-quality work, which is what we received. I just would have preferred a general estimate on completion date instead of an exact date (e.g. we are aiming to wrap up the tiling Thursday and finish Friday, but there's also a possibility we stretch into next week vs. a firm "tiles will be done Thursday and finishing touches Friday.") Bottom line: There is no doubt that I would go straight to Alex for any other work I need to do in the future, and I highly recommend him.

This is how one cuts the aluminum framing. In a perfect 45 degree angle. This is what attention to detail looks like.

But the job they did deserves recognition. Among the many people worth a shout-out: designer Chaya Uzan whose enthusiasm and ideas gave us a sense that our project was quite special; and Robbie Goldberg, our day-to-day contact and project manager, who brought a craftsman's eye to all aspects of the job. When problems were encountered, problems were fixed. An example: once we installed a new oven in the kitchen we realized that we would have to do without a favorite built-in spice cabinet. Robbie came up with ingenious fix requiring some custom carpentry so that the spice rack did not disappear but became an integral of the whole. Anthony, our renovation expert, was our first contact with A to Z. He encouraged us not to give up on what we wanted the project to look like even though other renovators had told us it was impossible to do. He also offered to answer any questions we might have along the way. Then there's Shevy, the permit and insurance coordinator. She dealt with the necessary paperwork and kept the inspectors at bay so we did not have to deal with those headaches. And last but not least, Mario, the site manager, who was there every day, hands-on, always professional and pleasant. On that note, the entire team seemed to like one another and treated us and each other with a refreshing degree of decency and consideration. To summarize: The team at ATOZ was thoroughly professional and kept us informed with clear, consistent communication every step of the way. Importantly, the team worked efficiently to stay on schedule and were fair when an unexpected issues arose, providing clear solutions. The final result is exceptional, and the quality of work exceeded our expectations. We would not hesitate to recommend ATOZ to anyone.

I have to say, they are the most professional, friendly and dedicated team of workers I have come across. I dealt with Wiggy initially over the phone and then Wiggy's dad and brother (Josh) were assigned to get the job done. I know re-grouting may not be an intense task for some, but for many (including myself) who are not as handy, its a serious job which needs to get done right. Let's just say, Mr. Handy NYC (Wiggy's dad and Josh) did an amazing job. Josh spent approximately 2 days to ensure the job was precise and flawless. Last but not least, they are reasonably priced and best part is that they are right down the street from where I live so I know down the line if/when I need other renovations done in my house, Mr. Handy NYC will be my go to folks!! Thanks again Mr. Handy NYC and I highly recommend them!!

I was very impressed and greatly satisfied with the work and the time it took to complete the renovation. Based on this pleasant experience I decided to contact Harry's Contracting again for a much smaller project in my own home, hoping that it would be accommodated based on the limited scope of the work. I contacted the office and Arianna immediately responded and scheduled a meeting with Harry for us to review the work and create a proposal. Just like the previous time, the administration portion of the process was quickly completed and we had a start date. As I stated in the beginning, this was a small project for three rooms of flooring and some minor renovation work in a bathroom, never the less, it was completed with the same level of care and attention to detail as my previous work. The workers; Andy, Ziggy and Angel were all very courteous, professional, and very accommodating to our needs. They always arrived on time, completed the daily required work and always cleaned up before they left. The work was completed in four days all to our satisfaction. I would strongly recommend Harry's Contracting for all projects, large or small.

Friday comes he's late so I call him to see if he's still coming for him to tell me he's running 40 minutes late and the price of my bathroom socket is going to cost $80 dollars and total price for his service will be $250, smh. I did a search for price of socket and the cost at Home Depot is $19 this person Chris is overpricing and being very unprofessional by not showing up or even calling . I will never use his company or his service ever again and suggest future customers beware.

The original doorway was just an open rectangle with a standard door frame. We had to have the frame removed in order to get some appliances through and decided to have it redone as an arch to match the other open doorways in our apartment. Cris and his team arrived on time and finished the job quicker than expected. Cris was responsive, thorough, and paid a lot of attention to detail. He helped me through the process of making sure we had board approval and was patient while we sorted it all out with them. We hope to use them for other projects we have. *note: we asked him to leave it prepped for painting as we are still trying to decide on paint colors which is why the paint colors are off.*
