Google them before letting them in. If your gut tells you not to let them in, do not let them in. Do not take your eyes off them for a second. If possible, place cameras, even around items of no/low value, kids' toys, knick-knacks, etc, even if they are too high up to reach normally. If you do not have video cameras, take before pictures of any room they have access to. Do not allow them to remove trash/debris from your home. Insist that they leave any garbage bags behind and check them thoroughly before throwing them away yourself. Take inventory of your belongings immediately. Record and photograph anything odd, even if it isn't something you would usually bother complaining about. If anything has gone missing, NO MATTER HOW LOW IN VALUE, file a police report. I'm ENRAGED by their lack of customer service, care, timeliness, attention to detail, respect for me, my hard earned money, and overall lack of remorse for terrible work/service!!! I thought they were a great company when we met to discuss the small projects in my home. THAT WAS NOT THE CASE!!! It started out great, they showed up August 7th, 2024. My project consisted of installing two new toilets, installing two-bathroom faucets, installing shower faucets, kitchen sink faucet, installing a porcelain kitchen sink, installing new outlet covers and switch plates, towel bars, toilet paper holders, new light fixtures in the bathrooms, hanging a small bathroom mirror over the vanity. There were a few other smakk items that I requested but they were all things that most any handyman could do. AT LEAST I THOUGHT, AND WAS ALSO REASSURED BY JOHN McCUE THE OWNER OF FIRST CALL. The first two days they finished some but not nearly all of the tasks. I asked him how he'd like to be paid, and he said you can pay me 1/2 now and the rest at the end of the week. No problem!! Paid him $2703.00 and all's good! Let me add that I paid for every single item that was installed in my home, they had no expenses going into the job or by the time they left over two months later - NOVEMBER 5th, 2024!!!!! There are so many things wrong with the small tasks they worked on it's hard to just name a few. The faucets do not stay in one place when you turn them on or off, the entire faucet moves because it was never secured from the underside of the vanities. I just paid an actual certified electrician to come to my home last week to reinstall every single outlet and cover because JOHN McCUE's employee installed them incorrectly and the lights would not turn on and off as they did when he came out to put the new ones in place. They were upside down and the wrong switches were put in for a two-way light switch. I also asked to have one of the outlets for my range moved to behind my range because it was above the countertop and could be seen to be moved so it would be concealed. His reply was, "We'd have to put an entire new plug in to do that" and I said that's fine go ahead and do it because I don't want to see the plug. SO, he left the wire inside the box, put another plug behind the range and called it a day. Mind you, he didn't show up for two weeks because he had taken ill, so I waited for the job that should have taken one week max over a month to complete. John was taking them off my project to work on McDonalds restaurants that he has contracts for. I asked JOHN why my kitchen lights were not working the way they had before they changed the outlets and he said, "Well, MY GUY IS NOT A CERITIFIED ELECTRICIAN!!! I replied, you never mentioned that he wasn't certified ever! But that was it, he even turned the lights on from the other side of the room and it didn't work the way it had prior to them performing their services. JOHN McCUE comes off as a upstanding guy especially after I shared my experience of trying to find people to perform the duties I had contracted FIRST CALL to do. I'm suggesting you RUN - DON"T WALK - RUN! DO NOT HIRE THEM. His work cost $5,406.00 A monkey with a wrench could have performed what they said they could do. I LOOK BACK NOW AND THINK THE MONKEY WOULD HAVE BEEN THE BETTER CHOICE, AT LEAST I WOULD HAVE GOTTEN SOMETHING OUT OF IT - I WOULD HAVE BEEN ENTERTAINED. I wasn't laughing then, and after paying someone else to fix what they did wrong, I'm not laughing now. Many people have said, you may not remember what someone says to you. I am dealing with my mom's house, which has had a plumbing issue for years; her sewer would back…read moreup, and the toilets wouldn't flush during high usage. I got a quote from a national plumbing company; they told me I have to replace the entire sewer line in the yard and under the house, requiring them to break up the concrete for a small fee of $30,000! Lots of fearmongering and warnings about the pipes being shot. They didn't even clean one clump of roots because they said they were worried the pipe was cracked underneath. It wasn't! I got a second quote from Formica Plumbing. The plumber, Jeff Poulos, was very honest and wondered why I thought I needed the sewer line replaced. After he cleaned out the roots, he showed me the video live; it looked clean with nothing cracked, broken, or misaligned like the other company had claimed. He did find that the inspection tee in the yard was broken and quoted $5,000 to fix it. A much better quote, but I wasn't done. I called the Cuyahoga County Sewer Department, and they fixed it FOR FREE!!!!! It's something they cover. I am beyond thrilled with this news! I had put down a deposit with Formica and they were very nice about refunding it, Jeff did his due diligence and called the county sewer department to learn more about what and where they cover and is putting it in the company system, so this doesn't happen to customers in the future. I am so pleased with my transaction with Jeff and Formica. They are honest and customer-focused, no scare tactics to get business, and no fixing what isn't broken. I highly recommend them; I will use them for all my plumbing needs. In this day and age, it is so refreshing to find honesty on this level. I feel like I won the plumbing lottery!

Sal was extremely professional in sending out their repair person. However, the person who came…read morewas very unfriendly. When I asked him to wear a mask, he refused. When I asked him to check if there was a leak of gas from my furnace, he said everything is in good working condition and there are multiple safety measures to prevent any leak. But when I asked how to be sure there is no leak, he said that is a second step to measure with a meter and it will cost another $89. In any event, I didn't find him to be friendly and helpful to rule out my initial complaint. I did not opt for the second step. No second step for diagnosis was informed by Sal earlier. That said, I guess I must give the business a 5-star rating based on the professional scheduling and followup of the appointment. "One swallow doesn't make a summer' or "one bad day" is not a true reflection of the company. I am changing my rating at Sal's text request personally. It's only changed because I can understand Sal's concern as a businessman. He offered me free service in return but I declined it again. He got me wrong completely. My changed rating is only for the professionalism shown by the reception desk and their follow-up. It is not for the changed picture Ron gave that I asked if Ron wanted me to wear a mask. Who would ask that in one's own house? I was wearing my mask thoughout the encounter. As a 65+ year-old, I must be cautious. I don't need a service person's permission to wear a mask inside my house.
