Randomly wanted to take a trip to New Orleans with a friend, online for flight and hotel and found the prices to be incredibly astronomical even when we moved our dates to later in the year it didn't matter it was a price that you would think you were traveling to Europe. I was flying off 2 days later to Mayan Rivera and staying at a luxury hotel - all adults per my request. The rooms are amazing and the best is the deal was all inclusive. THANK YOU, AJ TRAVEL! My husband and I wanted to go on a trip with another couple to Cancun. With so many different resort options, we turned to AJ Travel for their expertise. The international agent we worked with listened to our budget concerns and specifications about our resort. It was important to us that we found an all-inclusive, adults only resort that had a great nightlife. She sent us back over a couple of options and we chose the Yucatán Princess. It was SO perfect and beautiful! I also really liked that she helped us choose a flight schedule that got us into Cancun early enough to enjoy our first day! I came in expecting to get help for an international flight. As a college student in town during spring break I was a bit pressed for time and saw this place on google maps located near me. I was to meet with the international agent named Dottie. I had to wait because she was with another customer on the phone. Overhearing the conversation she was acting unprofessionally and was very angry. After noticing this I tried to keep up a positive attitude because I figured she was having a rough day. She finally called me to come sit down to get to planning. Straight off the bat the agent named Dottie called me rude for reaching into my backpack for my laptop. I couldn't believe what was happening in less than a minute she started arguing with me as I tried to make her understand all the info needed was in my laptop to help her plan my flight. She said "you obviously don't need me then maybe you should just go" and I called her out on bad customer service. She kept going back and forth with me saying that "it is very rude to reach for your laptop" raising her voice for no reason. In the beginning I was trying to make her understand that I had a lot of specific info for the country I was traveling to which was in Africa and questioned why she was acting way out of line. She was awfully mean and talked to me like I was some child that was wasting her time. This was all within 5 minutes. Her desk was located right near the entry door where other agents could have heard her arguing with me. I only then started to question what her problem was and why she was acting so rudely. All the other agents in the office kept their heads down allowing this lady to disrespect me, a college student seeking for help. No one bothered to step in. These ladies have a condescending attitude and acted like I did not belong there. Dottie took out a pen and paper to try to start doing business but I stood up and stated I would not be disrespected and that I didn't want her service. I walked around and asked another agent for help and she tried to keep me calm but I was awfully upset at being talked down upon the older woman named Dottie, who walked to the back of the office and I even heard her talking about me to another agent. I realized I should just leave, with none of the agents there trying to fix the situation as if they were covering for her. I took my business to Accent Travel instead and they helped me with the best service I could have ever asked for. I couldn't believe I did not receive an ounce of respect from AJ travel and that their boss never even got back to us from our complaint of rude customer service. I'm a college student from UT Austin and was trying to book an international flight for study abroad but I think Dottie just assumed I was some kid wasting her time. This was probably the most wildest occurrences I have ever had with customer service and what strikes me the most is that nobody else there did anything at all but let her treat someone with disrespect to make them leave. (The website has the names and pictures of the travel agents which is how I was able to remember the horrible agent I had encountered) Traveling is a very time consuming process that requires cooperation and professionalism in planning. read more

Last year, I wanted to plan a mother daughter trip to Italy. I had never been to Europe so I thought it would be wise to consult with a travel agent. I picked this agency based on a Google search and by reviewing their website. They seemed knowledgable and professional so I stopped by their offices. When I arrived, I was greeted by Rachel. I gave her an outline of what we wanted to do. The most important thing was to attend a papal audience. I also wanted to see the Uffizi in Florence. I had some airlines miles I wanted to use so she explained I would need to book my flight on my own and she would take care of the lodging and tours. We talked about dates and she advised us we just needed to pick any timeframe in September except the last week. The pope was scheduled to be in the US on the last week of September so that date was out. After we met, she emailed me some recommendations and prices and my mom and I began to plan our trip. It took us a few weeks to decide everything we wanted to do. I contacted Rachel with my flight info so she could book the tours and hotel. She informed me that the dates I had selected were dates where no papal audiences were available. When I did some additional research, I found out papal audiences occur on Wednesdays and we were flying in on a Wednesday evening and out the next Wednesday afternoon. I was a little frustrated that she hadn't mention this to me when we initially talked, but I figured it was my fault for not doing any research before I booked the flight. We finalized our plans and I provided her with a credit card that was earmarked for this travel. She booked the hotel and excursions and sent me confirmation and receipts for the booked items. Instantly, I had questions. For the Florence tour, the price much lower than what she quoted me. I emailed her to confirm that tour included admission to the Uffizi gallery and she assured me this was correct and that the lower price was correct. I felt reassured and dropped the issue. Within the next 2-3 days, I was notified by my credit card company that my credit card info had been stolen by someone in New York. Someone had attempted to buy a computer and some other high ticket items. I was issued a new card and the charges were removed. I notified Rachel and figured the breach must have occurred when she booked with one of the tour companies. The time of our trip draws near. She asks me to come in and pick up my travel vouchers. I come in, we chat and she promises to email me an itinerary. I am still waiting for that itinerary. When we leave for Rome, we run into some weather issues and are delayed in our connecting city. I call Rachel to see if she can assist and find out she is on vacation. I end up talking to a lovely travel agent named Mecy who straightened everything out and was very attentive and helpful. She is the only reason I gave more than 1 star on this review. The day we depart for Florence, we learn that we are booked on the wrong tour. We were booked on a self guided tour where we travel to Florence with a group, they provide us with a map and let us roam the city for a few hours. It did not include admission to the Uffizi as Rachel had previously confirmed. We were lucky because the Uffizi still had available tickets and our tour guide was able to get this straightened out for an additional fee. In my opinion, the point of using a travel agent is to get some recommendations and help figuring out how to maximize the time on your trip. I will say the tours Rachel did recommend were nice. We especially enjoyed a wine excursion to Tuscany. However, I didn't feel like I had a positive experience. I felt like I did most of the research and work - I ended up putting together our itinerary, I found out that the pope does another blessing on Sunday that we could go see, I figured out all of the transportation while we were in Italy (I don't even remember discussing this with her). As a result, I think I would save time and would not use a travel agent in the future. read more

My husband an I were going on our first international trip to Jamaica and Laura from AJ Travel was awesome in helping us plan our dream vacation! I went into AJ Travel on a whim. I happened to be in the area and was not disappointed. I was greeted promptly and then Laura and I got down to business. I told her that Jamaica was my dream vacation and she took it from there. I couldn't have been happier. She wasn't pushy and really listened to my "non-negotiable" requests. She realized that a destination trip would suit us better than a cruise and was not hesitant to point that out. I am so glad she did! A few months after I scheduled the trip I called her and requested a hotel/city change and she was on it! She provided me with options, and within the hour we had our new destination set! I also called her WHILE in Jamaica and she was there to offer her advice and assistance. I cannot say enough great things about her or about our vacation! Do not go to Mecy for your travel help. Would have to email her and call just to find out what was happening and she would never respond. She didn't book everything we talked about, which wouldn't have been bad except she never told us she didn't book it. No communication, horrible experience. read more
