He is super smart and organized (as you would expect from such a high caliber organization as AJT) - but what sets Robin apart is his ability to connect with my teenager. He isn't a preachy type, but practical and responsive to what is needed (and this has changed from last year to this year). Our two boys have been working with Kamlapati Khalsa, a math and programming tutor (AJ Tutoring Los Gatos Blvd) since June 2016. My wife and I wanted to supplement and advance our boys math and programming skills beyond what is expected; Kamlapati consistently exceeds our expectations. The boys consistently see Kamlapati every week for an hour throughout the year - during the school year and summer. Many times Kamlapati shows the boys different techniques on how to solve the same math problem. Other weeks he is preparing them for advanced math concepts. The boys always look forward to seeing and working with Kamlapati; they look forward to these work sessions. During the summer, Kamlapati proactively reaches out to help us set the summer agenda (math concepts for the following school year, programming - python and java script, co-teaching with Kahn Academy, even Reverse Polish Notation - RPN for Hewlett Packard calculators) Our family considers Kamlapati a family friend. He takes interest in the boys other activities and sports, and he has been able to see them grow up - elementary, middle, and high school. He is someone that the boys can talk to...even if the talks have nothing to do with math or programming. It is evident that Kamlapati truly enjoys what he does. All the arguing in our house disappeared once I turned my son over to Payson who is VERY well suited for coaching/tutoring teens. AJ tutoring has been very helpful for me! I did one on one SAT prep last year and math tutoring with Lan Do. She was amazing and I brought my score up by 100 points after working with her. I would highly recommend her. The office is in a convenient location, the tutors are very professional and email you back very quickly. I personally enjoy getting snacks and the rolly ranchers. This year I have tutor Ian and Heather and they are both very good and very knowledgeable. There tutors seem to book out very fast so sometimes it's hard to get on the schedule. It's a bit pricey compared to other places but there program is well established, very organized and they seem like they know what they are doing. We have been using Lauren Finn at AJ Tutoring for test prep on the SAT, and the SAT Math2. Lauren did a great job with our daughter. We worked with her for 3 months to get prepared for the SAT and Lauren did an excellent job assessing the needs and implementing a plan that worked.
