They've also got a few binoculars you can look through. The Reserve has been successful in their Sonoran pronghorn breeding program and amidst a lot of negative effects and the irreversible impact of a border wall, it's so nice to hear of the successes they've been able to achieve in this breeding program. This is a place that's also unfortunately associated with the heartbreaking and the darker aspects of life but the staff at the Reserve is caring and they're finding practical ways to help migrants avoid worst case scenarios, such as rescue beacons. I wish the Reserve was a bit more user friendly because the roads were definitely inaccessible for my little car but what I got a chance to experience has me planning my next visit already!

It's very modern and well kept, but calling it a cultural center is a joke. The acquisitions librarian, Doug, is an arrogant mansplainer who shows little to no respect to anyone who isn't a straight white male. If you're a local author, he and the others at the front desk are openly rude and judgmental, speaking over you while saying, "We don't accept self-published books." For the record, I am traditionally published with my books in international libraries and stores. It was also mansplained to me that my books are not being accepted due to the appropriateness of reading materials and the fact that we live in an area where political feelings affect what the library chooses to select. I write romance and paranormal. There's hardly anything nefarious about that, but god forbid the MC in my paranormal series has an LGBTQAI+ daughter. The horror! Clutch y'all's pearls and hide your children! However, the real slap in the face was them still reaching out to invite me to their Indie Author Day in November of 2023. The event was not well organized, keeping all authors in a side room and not really advertising this to the public. Also, they brought in a marketing specialist who went on about how it's better to self publish than go traditional. That aside, they have a great selection for young children and story times. It's great if you want to get them into reading. Personally, I visit the library in Casa Grande thirty minutes away. It's in the same county, and I can drop off my books in Maricopa without being charged fees. But if you're seeking anything diverse that isn't mainstream, you're SoL.

The residents of Chandler should be very happy that the city has provided such an amazing facility.

I figured it was about time I checked it out and I was very impressed. The first floor has adult collections, study rooms, meeting rooms, and quiet work areas. They even have a cafe to purchase drinks and snacks. The second floor is dedicated to children and families. They have a ton of children's books, computers, play spaces, and story time rooms. Staff is extremely friendly and helpful. I was told by getting a library card, I can check out passes that provide free admission to museums, gardens, and cultural attractions around Arizona. How cool! Will check out the cultural passes another time but did get the library card. They also offer a lot of free classes and programs for adults, teens and children such as book discussion groups, arts and crafts workshops, and story times. There's something for everyone here.

My review is based on the courtesy of staff, their knowledge of services offered, the convenience of the huddle rooms -availability and reserving, and the items they occasionally have available for purchase. I've come here for printing recently instead of going to the UPS store. Saves me more money. You can submit things to be printed via email or you can print things yourself either from desktop or directly at a set up printer. There is a fee, which is minimal, and there are some limitations to what you can print. I've used the Culture Pass deal and saved the price of two tickets for two adults (online price, age 18-64, $26 each) to visit the Heard Museum. Very cool, and it was our first to the Heard Museum, so added bonus. More recently the gentleman I spoke to provided me a quick lesson on how/where/when to pick up future Culture Pass so I could participate again when I find passes available. Some of the Culture Pass locations you could visit: Desert Botanical Garden The Heard Museum Scottsdale Museum of Contemporary Art Reid Park Zoo Gilbert Historical Museum Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum Arcosanti Sedona Heritage Museum Lowell Observatory Superstition Mountain Museum and several more. Desktops are available for a reserved period of time, and wifi can be accessed without a specific set limit if you bring your own laptop. On one occasion we picked up a selection of music cds for $1 each. Better price than many second hand stores. And I did see they have books available for purchase. While my older child was looking at books I had the baby playing in the baby area. I found nail clippings, hair balls and other things in what should be the safe area for young kids.
