It's very modern and well kept, but calling it a cultural center is a joke. The acquisitions librarian, Doug, is an arrogant mansplainer who shows little to no respect to anyone who isn't a straight white male. If you're a local author, he and the others at the front desk are openly rude and judgmental, speaking over you while saying, "We don't accept self-published books." For the record, I am traditionally published with my books in international libraries and stores. It was also mansplained to me that my books are not being accepted due to the appropriateness of reading materials and the fact that we live in an area where political feelings affect what the library chooses to select. I write romance and paranormal. There's hardly anything nefarious about that, but god forbid the MC in my paranormal series has an LGBTQAI+ daughter. The horror! Clutch y'all's pearls and hide your children! However, the real slap in the face was them still reaching out to invite me to their Indie Author Day in November of 2023. The event was not well organized, keeping all authors in a side room and not really advertising this to the public. Also, they brought in a marketing specialist who went on about how it's better to self publish than go traditional. That aside, they have a great selection for young children and story times. It's great if you want to get them into reading. Personally, I visit the library in Casa Grande thirty minutes away. It's in the same county, and I can drop off my books in Maricopa without being charged fees. But if you're seeking anything diverse that isn't mainstream, you're SoL.

I was fortunate to be able to attend one of the crochet group sessions and the leader Tonya was amazing! Very friendly and welcoming and in just one visit I learned several new techniques from her! if you are just learning, they have a bin of yarn and hooks and are open to teach you! A regular, Esther, was there too and I enjoyed my time with them so much! I also was able to attend a friend of the library pop up event and came away with two (heavy) bags full of like-new books for $9! I gave it 4 stars only because the Chandler Sunset branch is so stellar I doubt any other library will top it in my estimations!

We have paid for access to the Queen Creek library because there is no other library close but I'm beyond excited that there is now a close library in our county. This library has all new books, a cute little underwater themed children's area to sit and read, play a floor puzzle or play with some of the block toys that they have. They also have cool modern seating areas around the library, a computer area, copier, fax and printer. Since this place is new the shelves and books are sparkling clean. The employees were very friendly and helpful. I also read that they are searching for volunteers so help lead some programs! We will be back for sure

Unfortunately, this visit was disappointing. There were multiple loud phone conversations, including repeated profanity and threatening language, which made it difficult to concentrate. The fifth floor also had no air conditioning during my visit, making the space uncomfortably hot and not conducive to working for any length of time. I genuinely enjoy public libraries, so I'm hoping I just happened to visit on an off day. Based on this experience, however, I left with a negative impression.

I figured it was about time I checked it out and I was very impressed. The first floor has adult collections, study rooms, meeting rooms, and quiet work areas. They even have a cafe to purchase drinks and snacks. The second floor is dedicated to children and families. They have a ton of children's books, computers, play spaces, and story time rooms. Staff is extremely friendly and helpful. I was told by getting a library card, I can check out passes that provide free admission to museums, gardens, and cultural attractions around Arizona. How cool! Will check out the cultural passes another time but did get the library card. They also offer a lot of free classes and programs for adults, teens and children such as book discussion groups, arts and crafts workshops, and story times. There's something for everyone here.

One of the first things I noticed was how spacious the library feels. Everything looked clean and well maintained, which made it a really comfortable place to settle in and focus. There was actually already a line of people waiting outside for the library to open at 1 PM on Sunday, which says a lot about how popular it is. One feature I thought was especially cool is their seed library, where you can pick up seeds to plant your own plants at home. They also offer the usual cultural passes, which is always a great perk with a library card. Speaking of that, I really liked how unique their library card designs are. I was able to sign up for a card today thanks to a very helpful staff member who made the process quick and easy. Inside, there were plenty of tables and outlets almost everywhere, which made it perfect for getting work done. There is also a free charging center where you can charge devices. Parking was also simple. I parked at the Scottsdale Civic Center Garage, which made access really convenient. Overall, I was very happy with my visit today and will definitely be coming back.
