Let me preface this to say that I know very little about the extent of their book or audio selection at this location. My review is based on the courtesy of staff, their knowledge of services offered, the convenience of the huddle rooms -availability and reserving, and the items they occasionally have available for purchase. I've come here for printing recently instead of going to the UPS store. Saves me more money. You can submit things to be printed via email or you can print things yourself either from desktop or directly at a set up printer. There is a fee, which is minimal, and there are some limitations to what you can print. I've used the Culture Pass deal and saved the price of two tickets for two adults (online price, age 18-64, $26 each) to visit the Heard Museum. Very cool, and it was our first to the Heard Museum, so added bonus. More recently the gentleman I spoke to provided me a quick lesson on how/where/when to pick up future Culture Pass so I could participate again when I find passes available. Some of the Culture Pass locations you could visit: Desert Botanical Garden The Heard Museum Scottsdale Museum of Contemporary Art Reid Park Zoo Gilbert Historical Museum Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum Arcosanti Sedona Heritage Museum Lowell Observatory Superstition Mountain Museum and several more. Desktops are available for a reserved period of time, and wifi can be accessed without a specific set limit if you bring your own laptop. On one occasion we picked up a selection of music cds for $1 each. Better price than many second hand stores. And I did see they have books available for purchase. A few other activities the library offers: Ask a Master Gardener presented by U of A Maricopa Master Gardeners. Seed exchange Free Garden Seeds (limit 3) Break TIME Chandler Recreation Guide And numerous other Community Events -all viewable on their website. Keep in mind, you must have a library card to use most of the things mentioned. read more

It's a library staff at counter is helpful.... but it needs a good deep cleaning or even nightly cleaning. Took my 9month old and 7 yr old to check out some books. While my older child was looking at books I had the baby playing in the baby area. I found nail clippings, hair balls and other things in what should be the safe area for young kids. read more

Cute Library branch in Chandler. They have a nice selection of books for sale as well. We went in there to print something off, which cost us $.10 for each black-and-white copy. Outside they have a cooling station consisting of a water, fountain and sprinklers under a covered area for anybody to use which is super helpful during the hot Arizona summer that helpful librarians give us very good information. I also picked up three seed packets, which is a nice offering that they do where you can check out seeds of different items such as greens, turnips, etc.. read more

While the library itself is clean, modern, and welcoming, the noise level made it one of the worst library experiences I've had. People were having loud conversations, talking on speakerphone, children were crying and running around, and there were constant distractions everywhere. At one point, a woman sat next to me and conducted multiple business calls on speakerphone the entire time. I also overheard very personal conversations about evictions and divorces that really shouldn't be discussed loudly in a public study space. It was nearly impossible to focus or concentrate. I understand libraries serve many purposes today, but there should still be some level of respect for those trying to study or work quietly. Compared to libraries I've used in New York, this environment was far louder and much less conducive to studying. If it weren't for the computers and resources available, I would definitely choose another place to complete my coursework. Unfortunately, with over 30 hours left of classes and assignments to finish, I didn't have much choice. Very disappointing experience. read more

This branch is close to where I work, so it's convenient! It's always very quiet and the staff are always very nice and helpful. It's a smaller location, but they still have quite the selection of books and other entertainment. There are computers that can be used and lots of tables / chairs for use. Highly recommend if looking for a place to study or a new book to read. read more

This is a fairly small library but it's nice and they have a good selection of books for the size. The kids section looks like it has a wide variety of books to choose from and it seems like they make an effort to provide more diversity in authors and book titles. The librarians that I've talked to have all been very helpful and friendly. read more

This library has it all! Bursting with great reads, movies, magazines, tech tools, and programs for all ages and needs/wants... AND it has the BEST staff of any library I have ever visited! The friends of the Library section is beautifully organized and is updated weekly with new treasures. They have regular pop up events and special price days. My DS niece and I went to my local library to find " descendants books" and the library was very friendly and showed us right where we could find them. We also got a bag with a walking journal and some nice stickers. I was able to find a few Western books, so I was happy. The best thing was that we found out they have a puzzle swap on the first Monday of the month. Go check out your local library. You won't be disappointed . read more

Neighborhood library with something for everyone. Vast selection of books. You can browse inside or online. One of my favorite features is the ability to put a book on hold and pick it up when it's available. The book catalog features books from all the Chandler libraries, so if it isn't available at this location they'll send it over from one of the others. Inside is quiet and inviting, just as you'd want from a library. Staff are knowledgeable and helpful. Sometimes I will look through their dvd movies and find a few to check out. There is an excellent children's section for both books and movies. I haven't used their computers, but often see people on them. There are quiet rooms that you can use. I sometimes see small study groups or tutoring sessions in these rooms. The eBook section is what I use most now. The ability to browse and check out books on my kindle is easy and convenient. I can quickly see if the book is available and check it out. If it's not available, you can choose to be added to the wait list. read more

I absolutely love libraries. I'm old school and still like to read from hard back books. Though I'm somewhat a germaphobe I can easily find books that the bonds have never been broken at this library... no one sat in bed eating Cheetos and read from. This is in an extremely safe neighborhoods yet they still pay to have security guards. I'm pretty good with that, no one key my car either! I had the help of the most lovely librarian track down a book for my son. She was very serious about that mission and came through. Small children's area that is separated from the teen section which is a plus. Many fast speed computers. A great spot with helpful staff. read more

This is usually a peaceful place to be, but the last few times I have been here-it is chaos in the children's area!! Extremely loud and obnoxiuos behavior gong on and it is the LIBRARY! I bring my daughters to this library at least twice a week. My kids love it there. The facility is always clean and organized. They have even gone through a recent remodel. The place looks wide open now. It doesn't look like a typical library. The librarians have always treated us nicely. There's even a guy there that tells us a joke every time we visit. I love the library. This is my local branch, and frequent here often. Membership is free, as long as you are a local resident. Some of the benefits include computer usage, checking out books, all the local standard library stuff that you would expect. What I love about this place is that they are open 7 days a week, and late during the week (I think until 8 PM.) I love going here on Sundays to check my email on the computer, etc. I think you can print here for 20 cents a page or something. Plus, the staff here seems to be efficient and so far, has answered all of my questions when asked. read more

Chandler Public Library - Worth a review! Typically I would not review a Library, but this particular Library is worth it. It's not the biggest Library. It's not the most modern Library. However, it has lots of computers and a super fast wifi connection for those if us with laptops or tablets. I actually get a lot of work done in this library due to the speed of the internet and several printers available for patron use. Reduce, reuse and recycle... I'm trying to embrace this way of life more as I get older. I used to run out to the local bookstore to buy a book that I'd heard about... now I always make sure to check my local library first (call or go online to do so). That being said, Chandler's Sunset Branch is a great little library that is free free free! In addition to books, they also have fun activities for kids, such as story time and baby sign language. These activities run on a schedule though and often take breaks when the kids are on break so make sure to check the library calendar! Might see ya there! read more

Pretty nice environment for reading, but I don't like their chairs, it hurts my back after a long time sitting.

We came at 7:30 on a weeknight looking for something very specific for my daughter's school assignment and only came to this location because that's where the book was. The location is larger than it appears from the outside and the people working here were helpful but I wouldn't say they were overly friendly. Maybe that's because they were 30 minutes away from closing the doors and going home (which shouldn't be an excuse). At 7:40 the lights went out for about 10 seconds or so as a reminder that closing time was near. The announcement followed that and it just seemed like a bit much but maybe they have a problem getting people out the door at night. {{shrugs shoulders}} read more

Not only is membership free for locals, it's free for ALL Maricopa County residents. But that's not the best part - the BEST part of this branch (and the whole Chandler Library system in fact) is the selection of DVD's they have for check out. They have very recent releases as well as some oldie-but-goodies. So next time you want to an awesome movie, check out the Chandler Library system before you spend a whole dollar at Redbox. They also have a great selection of CD's - from mainstream to somewhat obscure to pretty awesome "deluxe editions" (I found Rancid's 3 disc edition of Let The Dominoes Fall at two of the branches). The Sunset branch isn't huge but it's got LOTS of stuff, and if you don't want to trek to one of the other locations they'll transfer stuff for you. TIP: check out the children's section's DVD's - I don't know why some things are over there instead of the regular section - but there can be some goodies over there. read more

Stopped in to the kid's area recently with my 2 year old to spend some time while we waited for an older child to finish sports practice nearby. The children's section is well worn and in need of repair. Every book I opened had ripped pages that hadn't been taped back together. The chairs look like they've been used considerably since their last cleaning. The toys were just so-so, quality but few of them and the toddlers fought for space in the small toy play area. The only real gem here was the computers. I was amazed at how high quality the computers were in the children's area - touch screen, interactive, tons of program options, on a swivel, and huge screens. Not my favorite library, but will do in a pinch looking for a cool place to spend a few minutes with the kids if you're okay with screen time. read more

Nice library, about half the size of the downtown library and that's fine for me. I literally live right down the street from the downtown library but it is always so crowded and hot. There is a small area for computer tables and I really loved that there are huge ceiling to floor windows for you to look out of. Perfect for rainy days. No cafe or any of those frills here. I thought someone was coming out of the bathroom but it was just the door opening on its own, they're motorized automatically. Overall, I wouldn't come here to look for books just because they have a much smaller collection and I always just send any books they have that I want to pickup at the downtown branch, but I would come back here to work. Chandler-Sunset is awesome. It's clean and well organized, and the staff is amazing. They are patient and kind, and always make time for you. The library isn't huge--if you want big, go to the Downtown branch. However, they're always happy to reserve things on hold and have them delivered to Sunset for you. They have study rooms and tables to write or work at, as well as computer stations. I love the self-checkout system they have set up. It's awesome. If you want a great place to go and work, read, or browse--forget B&N, go to the library. read more

Heh, didn't know reviewing a library would be so hard...I've been sitting here thinking of how to go about it for about 15 minutes. Anyway... Books! Yeah they got'em. The ones you want. And they will GET the ones you need. That's right, the Chandler Library system has awesome tools on their website that allow you to borrow from other branches, AND other libraries throughout the country. But...that really doesn't have anything to do with this SPECIFIC branch. I rate it so high because of the customer service. The help desk is just that...HELP. I try to do research and have the author and the name of the book all ready for them to just search it on their database...well, sometimes I forget my handy little lists at home and then I'm screwed. But the people at this branch have you covered. They are patient, friendly, knowledgeable, and they are easy to find lingering around the aisles or behind the desk. Once you've got your items, you'll be greeted by the people at the check-out desk. Once again, these folks are friendly, conversational, helpful, and some of them are just plain funny. The whole staff makes this place a pleasure to visit. Now, as far as the facility itself... Clean, efficient, organized, bright, and well kept. There isn't much of a 'chill-spot' vibe here, though. Its basically a computer area (plentiful), the books, and a decent sized study area. No cafe or comfy couches and stuff. Go to the main branch for that. Haven't had to use the bathroom there yet...(yes, that is important to some people). I cannot complain about them not having specific books when I want them, due to the internet system they have. However, this branch doesn't have as big of a selection as the main Chandler branch. This review is being written specifically to point out the outstanding staff they have, so sorry if I'm a little light on the nitty-gritty. read more

You have to love all of the public library systems we have available to us in the Valley. I am a member of the Phoenix, Scottsdale and Chandler Public Libraries. I have recently started frequenting the Chandler Public Library Sunset Branch as it is very convenient for my work. I go online, put the item(s) I want on hold and they notify me when they are ready. Picking them up is a breeze (although, like all libraries, their parking lot gets full) as I just grab the item(s) off the hold shelf, go to the self check out and leave. The Staff is friendly and helpful and this branch has a very nice atmosphere. read more

We love this library! It is a smaller branch of the Chandler Public a Library System. This equates to a smaller selection of books. We usually do a lot of book requests from the larger downtown library. They have some good programming throughout the week - check out the online calendar for current offerings. My favorite feature is the new 3M library app that the library just announced. The hope is that patrons will have a better experience with the library's digital collection. They no longer participate in the Greater Phoenux Digital Library from Overdrive. It looks like the 3M app has a really great selection of current and popular books. Be sure to look at the for sale books on the wall when you first walk in! I've found done great deals on sought after books! read more

I've actually only been here for the Rhythm and Rhyme class but we love that class! My son always has a great time. Ms. Trish is the best! I wish there were more activities like this. I feel like it promotes exercise and learning and allows great interaction with other children. Thankful for them and that they're so close to me. read more

I've gone twice now. Once for a toddler class which was great in terms of content but extremely over crowded. When it's that busy I wish they would offer a second session on a different day. There isn't an inch of room in the space and during the free play part of the session it was just complete chaos with parents tripping over kids. I also went another time recently just to check out books with my toddler. First, I have more board books in my home than the library had on the shelf. Really disappointing selection. Second, a lot of the children's books (paper pages and board books) are shabby, old, and falling apart. I did a simple search for Sesame Street books. Found only 4 and they were all so very old. One was literally almost ripped in half. Found one nice Daniel Tiger book. And another that needed repairs. Left with 5 books, 4 of which were disappointing. The only good part of this library is that the librarians are nice and helpful. Chandler- fund your library better! This was terrible. read more

As a library *branch*, Sunset is just as good as it gets. Clean, updated, and with its courteous and knowledgeable staff, a visit to this library is always a pleasant one. There also may be the most laptop-friendly library of this size. Not necessarily the amount of the desks and chairs available (they do have plenty, though!) but the arrangement of those makes it so much more comfortable to stay and work. read more

While the library facilities have gotten substantially better since the makeover, the attitudes of the librarians has gotten worse over time. Any time I go to ask for help from a librarian, they are full of attitude and disdain, like I am inconveniencing them by asking for help. And a couple of times when I was notified that I had items on hold and they weren't on the hold shelf, I went to ask the librarian to ask for help, and they would get very snarky. read more
