A friend had recommended this place to us since they got their bike there and we decided to just go check out their selection and maybe get some tips on what kind of bike would work best for us. A lady asked us if we needed help and actually helped us through the whole process. We actually ended up testing and buying a new bike. She was very helpful on which bike and how to maintain it. The bikes are a bit expensive and a little out of our budget but we figured that if we wanted a nice and quality bike that it was good to spend the extra cash. They have the basic warranty and free tune up after 4-6 months. Very helpful staff and great selection of bikes. I would recommend this place to others for sure! read more

Had a great experience purchasing my first road bike. I just so happened to be greeted by the owner this day and I explained what I was looking for and what type of budget I was working with. He wasn't pushy at all nor made me feel incompetent with the amount of questions asked. I purchased a specialized Allez, which in my opinion is a great started bike especially within my parameters. I brought it in for a little service after 2 weeks due to me shifting incorrectly, it was fixed the same day. Grateful to have them in the community. read more

What went wrong? Everything. Yes everything. I want in looking for an e-bike to ride around the neighborhood. Flat roads. I wanted a throttle. I wanted a Specialized. I also said I wanted something pretty fast. They somehow convinced me to buy a high end electric mountain bike. No throttle, and not really that good for road use. Okay but not really good. And NOT a Specialized. And it only goes 18mph unless you want to peddle really really hard in an attempt to get it to go a little faster. Two days later the bike was delivered because they needed time to prep the bike before delivery. It was on the showroom and looked ready to go. But I appreciated the extra care to make certain it was ready for me. Well, it was delivered with a nearly flat rear tire. I took it to a nearby Trek dealer who kept it 10 days only to return it saying they couldn't figure out why. Then I took it to a nearby Specialist dealer, who said the bike was two years old, the programming needed two updates, pointed out that the paint was faded. ( I thought it was supposed to be that way). They did fix the rear tire leak. Turns out it had a bunch of black gunk inside the tire. The tire seal band was cruddy dirty and the inside of the rim needed a serious cleaning. It was then that i realized why they pushed this bike on me so hard. It was faded, had a rear tire/wheel problem, was two years old, and needed some computer software updates. Needless to say, I am not happy and will not be a returning customer. read more

Nobody greeted me when I walked in or asked if I needed help. Spent 10 minutes browsing before having to ask for help finding something that was BEHIND THE COUNTER the whole time. They treated me like I was a burden when I did ask for help. Most of them ignored me and the one that did help just kept doing things around the store while I asked him questions. Never even gave me his full attention. They were short-spoken, unfriendly and had a very non-inclusive attitude about answering questions. So, If you're a beginner or novice I would recommend shopping elsewhere. read more

I live in a wheelchair. My tires need inflated fairly often. I asked them if they could do it. I can't use a pump. My legs don't work. Gas stations only inflate to 70 psi. They told me no they didn't want to be liable if the tire later went flat. Every other shop said yes of course. read more

This is hands down the best bike shop in the area. Everyone on the staff is extremely knowledgeable and generous with their time, including the owner and they make you feel like family. They always find a way to work me in for a tune up or repair even when they are slammed and are very reasonably priced despite the quality of work performed. I was new to MTB'ing when I decided to buy my first bike online. The bike came in a damaged/opened box with nothing else but the bike itself inside and I was mortified. On a Hail Mary I took it to AJ's (my first time there) on a Saturday afternoon barely an hour before they were set to close. One of their technicians Hunter immediately jumped into action and evaluated the bike for me to make sure there was no damage or parts missing. He then assembled it for me on the spot and set it up so that I would be able to go riding with it the next day. Since then, we've made various adjustments and upgrades and every time I've left the shop feeling thankful. That is a customer experience you don't get most places and it's the reason I will keep coming back for as long as I am riding and living in this area. Ok this is probably going to be the longest review I'll ever leave for a business.... but you NEED to read this! So here we go! First off, AJ's is a multi-line dealer for brands like Specialized, Giant, Liv (women's specific bikes), Santa Cruz, Pivot, Salsa, Electra and there's probably even more I'm forgetting. They also carry about every style of bike imaginable : Full suspension mountain, hardtail mountain, road bikes, hybrids, cyclocross, beach cruisers, kids, and even E-Bikes. Secondly, AJ's offers full custom bike builds as well including custom built wheels from brands like Atomik, Stans, Raceface, Chris king, Industry Nine, Onyx Racing, Profile and more! Third and final is my actual review! I have personally purchased over 15 bikes in the last 2 years (yes I have issues but you should already have caught on to that from this review you're still reading). As much as I am a very picky, anal, and can be a very demanding and difficult customer - I HAVE NEVER HAD A SINGLE BAD EXPERIENCE at AJ's. They have a kickass mtn biking selection - Giant, Specialized, Santa Cruz, Pivot?!! I didn't even know these top of the line brands could all be found in one store! Aj's bike shop is a solid bike shop located not far from some of the best MTB trails we have in the Tampa area. They have a solid group of people working there who are knowledgeable about what they sell and are also really friendly. You can really tell they care about what they do because they'll take the time to help you find what you need. We went in there the other day to rent some Santa Cruz's for Alafia. The guy helping us was really helpful in getting my parents dialed in the right bike. They have a pretty big selection of rentals and they aren't your typical beat up rentals you normally find. After getting the rentals all ready, the guy working the front gave us some maps for Alafia & Boyette and talked a little bit about some of the trails we should check out. Some of the dudes there also help build the trails out there as well so it just shows that they care about making the MTB community better. All in all I highly recommend checking out this bike shop. I called them to ask about roof racks. They don't carry them in stock. Let me get this straight, a bike shop who doesn't carry bike racks in stock. Strange to me, but in any case I spoke to a young man whom I shall not name. He did take a moment to look up what roof racks I need. I'll give him that. I called back around other places to find out nobody has them in stock either. Strange times I'm living in. This is not the first time I have needed racks. It's the first time nobody is carrying them. Pandemic and all I guess. Here is where it kind of gets on my nerves. I called back to speak with the same guy as before. He gets on the phone I tell him that the price he quoted me was the best and that I needed to order because he could get them the soonest. I reiterated what I need. Cross bars and four towers. Apparently he only quoted me the four towers. So now I think I'm getting the best deal but maybe not. He explains that he needs time to look up the part numbers (which I by now had and gave to him!!). He said he was busy but would get back to me in an hour. I haven't heard from him since. You know who you are. I'm disappointed in your business. I have also since purchased a complete rack system somewhere else, so there is nothing I'm trying to get here. I purchased a Townie brand bike from AJ's a number of years ago and have had it back for maintenance several times. Today I called asking for a maintenance appointment to service my brakes and derailers and was told I'd have to take my bike somewhere else. They don't have time for my small job. So I shipped my bike to Florida from New Jersey. Wanted to add 'Florida' to the list of states I've ridden in. While reassembling my Giant Defy I realized the seat post clamp/wedge wasn't in the case. Long story short, I called 3 shops and one even had the part but would not sell it to me. They didn't want to take it off the bike. Then I called Aj's, Spoke with Karly, explained my situation and she said she would ask the mechanic and get back to me. I came here to buy my spin shoes a few years back. The guys working here were very knowledgable of their products and so helpful for what kind of shoe I needed. They adjust your clips and tighten them up whenever you need them too also. They have everything you could possibly need for your ride. From bikes all the way to personal tools and wear. I mean EVERYTHING! I have a friend that brings his bike to this place all the way from New Port Richie for maintenance. Thats a hike all the way out here. So that by itself says a lot about this place!!! I needed new wheels for my inline skates, and the guy was nice enough to point me in the right direction even though they don't carry them at their store. I really like their customer service! Its always been top notch! That's always a BIG plus for any shop. The best part is that they also give military discounts here. They've NEVER tried to sell me on anything I didn't need or wasn't interested in. I've moved down South about an hour and still go out of my way to give them my business. Ok ne venue and genre fo me. I am looking for a bike to ride to work. Stumbled into a shop last weekend and was there 2 mins. Was greeted and asked if I needed help. I said yes. the guy turned back to his game of candy crush on the computer. We left. Spend the afternoon walking in a county park and pulled in here. I am looking to get back into biking. As soon as we walked in the bikes were overwhelming. A great selection. Was greeted by a sweet voice "can I help you" I said yes and a sweet knowledgeable lady named Erica appears. I explain what my situation is. She makes a recommendation. Grabs a bike and says follow me. Next thing I know I am riding this bike. It was nice but a big for me. She says be right back. Brings out another. I am riding the strangest bike I have ever rode. But wow. Now I am in still in the research phase but Erica was amazing. Answering all my questions telling me stories from other customers. And best of all.....no pressure. She truly cares that I get the correct bike for me. And it is not easy to put a 52 yr. old man on a bike. I saw nothing but smiles in the place and it was busy. They had an off-site demonstration that day. Thus I was lucky enough to meet the fantastic Erica. She works Monday thru Thursday. But apparently all are great and they do not work on commission. This place is between meh and okay. Words to the wise: - This place is quite pricey compared to other places I've rented from. Note that they do not honor military discounts on their bike rentals, only on bike parts and accessories. - If you want to have a full 24-hr rental as advertised on the website, make sure to come in the DAY BEFORE to pick up your rental. We came in at noon and were advised that we needed to return our 24-hr rentals 5 hours later. It doesn't take a mathematician to figure out that 5 does not equal 24! As a last minute comment, we were told that we could bring the rentals back the next day at noon (if we could not get there by 5 the same day). I would have much preferred that they told us this from the beginning when we initially reserved the bikes over the phone. - They forgot to give us our helmets. Luckily, I remembered that we needed them as we were on our way out. I can't say I felt welcomed here. If I were to rent here again, I'd make sure to visit the day prior and get my money's worth! read more
