A perfect car wash if your car is already clean or you like unpleasant customer service! Sigh, I actually had a very positive view of this place, and would recommend them as a nice place to get gas, but unfortunately today we tried the car wash. I was really excited, it seemed high tech and nice, and was excited to make it my go-to. Unfortunately it did not get the car clean (even with the highest level of wash available), and when we got back home we saw there were black speckles on about 8 of the body panels on our pretty new and recently waxed car. This was handily the worse wash we have tried in the area. I wasn't worried because the other places we had dealt with recently would just send us back through if there were any problems, so we headed back over to the wash to help them make it right. When we got there I described my problem, and there was clearly stress about it so this was not the first time it had happened. The person who seemed in charge wanted to see it, so I took him out and showed him the speckles fully expecting an easy solution. Unfortunately he rather brusquely informed me that it was only on a small area (8 body panels is apparently small) and that he could offer to let me buy a towel for something like another 3 bucks so that I could clean it myself. Are you serious? You're going to try to upsell on a customer retention issue?!? Absurd. When we looked around we noticed signs advertising towels for your car wash implying that they were for finishing the job not drying the car. This was not the first time they had had this conversation. I went home and used my own towel and quick detailer to finish they job they failed to do, and most certainly wiped the 4 dollars extra worth of wax upsell off on the 8 body panels that I found myself having to clean by hand having payed for an automatic car wash an hour before. So the way I see it: 3 stars for a below average wash at a slightly lower price than some, minus one star for trying to upsell me and asking me for my labor to get the job done, and minus another star for the bad customer experience/ attitude. Even a simple apology and explanation that touch less car washes have advantages but also technical limits would have avoided everyone reading this review, but that's not what happened:-/ Really unfortunate, we liked this place, but I don't see any reason why we should support a place that does this kind of stuff. read more

Pretty solid washes here. Definitely one of my favorites in the area as drive thru washes go. I haven't tried all of them though, there are more that seem to be showing up in the last year or two. I prefer to do drive thrus rather than the hassle of getting out of my car while it gets washed but that's just me! read more

The fam stopped here as a last pit stop before 17 and we were glad we did. The bathrooms are clean (even the men's), there's a car wash and lots of great snacks and beverages! Matcha lattes, kombucha, liquid death and Thai iced tea are some options. There's also specialty ice cream, spicy mango, local cookies and healthy sandwiches. This is the very convenient petrol stop right by the highway ramp on the way in/out of the main way into capitola beach. Which also has the coffee and snacks dialed in. Usually I lead in with parking tips as in the bay area parking is by no means a sure thing, but this is a gas station. It's made for cars to come into. It's got a half dozen pumps with the usual overpriced gas in case you need it. They sell propane and wood which can be handy, there's a bench facing the pumps outside if you need to sit a spell, and there's a couple break room style tables inside by the awesome coffee bar. Which brings me to what makes this stand out from the other ten million unremarkable places to pump up at. They have an unusual focus on locally sourced items for coffee/sweets/snacks. Better then expected wine selection (for a gas station that is. Let's not get too carried away. It's not the best spot for wine shopping. But is good for a bottle on the fly.) They have many santa cruz roasting coffee's on deck ready to go at all times, and the most comprehensive ice cream cooler for marianne's novelties in the area.Also a strong snack wall. Plantain chips, Limon peanuts, and various spicy/savory chip mixtures. So yeah top off the tank if you need to, but it's great spot for grab and go coffee, sweets, and snacks as well. read more

If you value your vehicles paint and having a clean looking car, do not use their new car wash. It is AWFUL! The car wash is touch-less but it cakes on so much soap and with a light rinse you get, you come out of that wash with soap all over your vehicle. And if you do not go somewhere else to rinse off all the remaining soap, it will dry on you paint and leave streaks that are real hard to get off. The dryer only has forty seconds and no blow force, so you come out half dry everytime. I have used this car wash three times with the same awful results everytime. I asked the manager about it and they blame it on the company that installed the car wash and can not do anything about it. That's BS! I worked at a convenience store a few years back. We went there Monday for lunch. Place is immaculate and provides outdoor seating. The food was stellar. I had a philly sandwich, my husband had a mushroom burger and my daughter Mallory had a salad with a big slice of cooked Ahi on it. This place rocks and is a high end market and gas station. Every morning I stop into AJ's on my way to school, and work down Highway 1. The staff is always very welcoming, friendly, and I have seen them go out of their way to help customers in and out of the store. The products that AJ's carries are in one word "incredible." Don't think gas station mini mart, the products they carry offer a variety of healthy snack options. The coffee is fresh in the AM, and they offer a variety of local fresh Aldo's baked goods. Its always a struggle to pass on the Mary Ann's cooler that's by the register. Did I mention the drink options? They have a traditional back wall, but the side cooler is loaded with teas, cold brews, Kambochas, and energy drinks. Its a sippers paradise. AJ's FTW! Oh, and don't buy your gas here... its pretty expensive for the area, with 3 stations regularly selling gas at 30 cents less per gallon. read more

Located on the corner of Hwy 1 and Bay Ave, this is the first and last gas station before the Hwy 1 freeway coming from Capitola Village. The pricing is reasonable in a sense that it is about 2 cents less then the Shell or 76 just down the street, and they have a fairly large market area for any last minutes items you need to snag before a long trip back home. I do mean snag in the non-criminal sense. Snagging goods and not paying for them is a "no no." ...and snag fishing in California is also illegal. Then again, snag in every sense of the word just doesn't apply. In Aussie it means sausage unless that's what you came in for, or if your referring to some dead foliage. P.S. Can a gas station with it's own garden w/ a fountain really be bad, never! The restrooms are clean & airy thank goodness to the windows always open! The attendant is cool & the place sells the juice & gum you like. Or I like..ha. But def big ups...this place is easy on the eyes & has a separate room just for coffee, yes please. And if you need to stretch your legs a bit longer...chill on the bench in the garden. =) read more

This place is amazing. They are the only place I can find delicious fresh meat that my Muslim daughter and family can eat. The meat is so fresh it has no odor. Plus the fresh fruit and vegetables are also fresh, bright and the other choices likes breads are also great. Perfect place to find that little hostess gift. I read a review about the gyros, so I decided to try it. Worst ever. He asked me if I wanted spice, so I agreed. That meant that the meat was coated in spice that tasted like the morton's beef taco spice mix. They served it on a tortilla (instead of pita), and there was more pre-cut romaine than meat. This place is more then a gas station! I go here for their awesome food selection at their mini mart. If you need a great deli sandwich, kombucha, beer, fresh produce, and great organic frozen goods this is the place. The prices are a little steep, but it's worth it especially since they are open late. The staff is always helpful too! read more
