We really enjoyed our dining experience at Akame Sushi. The AYCE option was a great value for us as it was our first time here, so we were able to try a wide variety of things between all the courses!!! Arriving during happy hour was an added bonus that we weren't expecting. We absolutely loved the ease of the tablet for ordering at our own pace (with photos and descriptions if we were unsure of what something was), which meant we weren't bombarded with a ton of food all at once and hot food wasn't sitting there getting cold. It was great to have your food delivered to your table minutes after you sent your order and empty plates were whisked away promptly. Between the food, service, and how chill the vibe in the restaurant was, my husband and I will definitely be back soon!

The most beautiful orange in the world. Eat an orange for dessert.

Eat an orange and be happy. Seriously, we had the most photogenic orange in the world at Akame and it tasted good too. Oh yeah, they have sushi here too, in the all you can eat variety. The sushi isn't anything great on its own, though it is made to order and is at least good. What distinguishes Akame is the service and business model. They give you a tablet to order as you wish so that there's more accuracy with and less waiting for your food. Servers are less stressed and can focus on the hospitality and cheerfulness aspects of their job. Overall, I'm very impressed.

Akame Sushi is good enough, and honestly better than I expected. I admit my prejudice against smaller town sushi, and in particular "all-you-can-eat" places. Akame surprised me by serving my wife and I decent meals. And by dining ala carte as opposed to the all-you-can-eat deal, we actually saved money. The fish quality was good. Not excellent, but good. We had several sushi and sashimi pieces and none were below par. The unagi tasted a day old, but still edible and delicious. The pork katsu was nice in appetizer size, and a good value. Not the most convenient location in Eau Claire, but good for locals and for those passing through on route 53. I'd eat here again.

This is basically Fuji without the "theatrics" of the Habachi grill. Pricing is better than Fuji since it's all you can eat. There is no buffet line, you order from a Tablet and they bring the order to you! When you need more, just order more from the Tablet. Don't waste food. It's bad for the environment and they charge you $1+ per plate. Fuji is for special events and dates and you will leave hungry and broke. Akame is to come and eat and get full in a decent environment.

We are from out of town and this is some of the best sushi I've had in a long time! I'm sad we're 3 hours away. The service was friendly, the food was quick but fresh, the sushi was amazing and didn't skimp on the protein, and the portions were huge. 10/10, recommend!

Our server, Gracie, was phenomenal in all regards, and from now on I'll always make reservations and request a table in her section. We weren't insanely hungry so we skipped appetizers, soup, salad. My husband order the Chicken Tchoupitoulas and I selected the medallions of beef with bernaise sauce. My guy's chicken was addictive; I only got a little nibble but I'd be hard-pressed not to order it from now on. The Chicken Chop was flavor-forward, with succulent chicken and veggies. The medallions I selected were cooked medium rare as requested, juicy and tender, but lacked seasoning. The mashed potatoes that were on my plate needed more butter and/or gravy. I think the big issue with this place would be parking, as it's in a high-traffic area and doesn't have it's own lot. Even going for dinner as early as we did, street parking was scarce.

She does not seem to like solo diners --and I am frequently eating alone. The food is solid and I generally enjoy their version of sushi, although a true lover would probably find it lacking. The chicken sushi is a must for those hesitant to try it and I like the fries Jade Garden Roll as well. I never thought in a million years that I would write a negative review about Jade. It was news to…read moreme visiting from La Crosse, that Jade changed locations. Upon entering, I thought to myself, wow, this is huge! It was bright and vibrant, but also way too big for the type of restaurant it is. Reminds me of a mini Golden Corral, but there's a reason why Golden Corral was so big. Their buffet lined along the walls, and was U-shaped, and went from buffet counter to buffet counter. Jade has theirs in the middle. For the main buffet, and then the dessert bar is completely separate on the left side. We were way too far from the buffet, and it's also a lot for any older person to have to walk that far. The food was not impressive. Noodles were bright out fresh, but had 0 flavor! Even a little salt would help, but these were not the noodles I was used to. The coconut shrimp was hard and disgusting. Tasted nothing like Coconut Shrimp. The BBQ ribs were VERY tough to chew! The crab rangoon was nothing like I remember. Very bland and had a weird texture. The BEST item to me were the garlic green beans. Even what was my all-time favorite, the peanut butter chicken wasn't good at all. The buffet is wayyyyyy too expensive! Has no business being that high! If you're going to expect people to pay that price, then your quality shouldn't suffer, and should be top notch or worth the price! It's absolutely ridiculous to pay that much, when you're not offering me or any of the other consumers the same quality you had at the previous location! I can say that after this experience, and this being my go to place for yummy Asian food, has now come to a halt. We will no longer go to Jade. We will not go back until we hear things have changed. I'm clearly not the only one who feels this way. Pay attention to the other reviews. This was so upsetting to know a place that I looked forward to eating at when I get into town has suffered. I hope you guys get better, but we will not be back! SHAME!

They will even make custom dipping sauces if you ask them. For me, the key to this place is timing. I ask them to wait to bring the soup until after I get some appetizers and the hibachi. Then I order soup and get a plate of items for the soup. Don't forget to check out the desserts! Make sure you cook the items in your hot pot long enough!! Add items in batches, starting with the ones that take longest to cook. Don't forget to stir! The fatty pork and beef are my favorite soup choices. I don't ever get the chicken, because it seems a bit risky. I've already been here twice and will be back soon! Don't pay much attention to the negative reviews. I'm convinced they did't cook their ingredients properly, did't ask for help, or let items from the buffet sit at their table too long before they ate them. Foods need to be at a certain temp and if you go get 2 plates from the buffet then come back to soup and hibachi, it will be difficult to eat everything at once. This is where the timing comes into play. Don't be shy to ask them to wait to serve the soup until after your first trip to the buffet so your appetizers don't get cold.

We are partial to sitting at restaurant bars when we go out to eat. The Shanghai Bistro bar is always in need of a wipe-down when we sit down at an otherwise barely occupied bar. We love the food, but when we have to ask the completely uninterested bartender to clean his bar, this gets the experience off to an unpleasant beginning. We've had the same bartender each of the three times we've been there and each time it seems as if he'd rather be anywhere but there. Even after leaving a note on my credit card slip last time suggesting he take more pride in his department, the bar area is still in pretty sorry shape. Shanghai Bistro used to be PACKED on weeknights as well as weekends. Even on a Wednesday night -- which is their sushi special night -- the fact that the place had perhaps 20 diners demonstrates that something has gone wrong. We will undoubtedly return despite these last three unpleasant experiences. We simply hope that reviews such as this one will reach the eyes of those who need to read them.
