Pretty typical hibachi steakhouse, they have separate hibachi stations from the dining area. I hadn't been to a Fuji in ages as there's one in my hometown as well so it was fun to be pleasantly surprised by all of the beautiful stained glass, fountain, and majestic woodwork. My husband and I sat in the dining area as we were only in for a short dinner and passing through Eau Claire. The rolls were dainty and really small: my husband ordered the salmon, avocado, and shrimp tempura roll. I ordered a steak hibachi meal -- I was fairly disappointed with how bland everything tasted. I opted for the miso instead of onion soup & it was pretty underwhelming. My steak was cooked beautifully but the fried rice & veggies didn't taste like much. Huge place separated into a dinning room and a big hibachi room. The hibachi room has 6 or 7 large tables and the dinning area has about 10-12 booths and a sushi bar which also has seating. I will warn you that this may not be the place to go in a romantic dinner date. It is a place that you might want to come with a work group, for a birthday party or maybe the second or third date! It is very loud in here. At times there are drums beating, people cheering and having fun.,. Not for a quite dinner discussion. But who really chooses hibachi for a quite dinner? The good... Sushi! It was really good! I had a Philly and a California, and was impressed. Would do the sushi here again. The bad.... The meal I ordered came with soup and a salad. The soup was warm at best and the salad was wilting and literary soaked in the dressing. Not good. The fried rice entree came in a weird box which hid how big the bowl actually was. What looked like a small serving was actually very large. Unfortunately, I did not love the taste, or the dry breaded chicken that it was covered with. (Check out the picture). The server came a little later than expected (approx 10 minutes), but once she came she was quick to take our order and bring out our beverages/food. The soup and salad was scooped up fast and came quickly - delicious! Then the food came out shortly after and that was also very good. My wife ordered the steak hibachi and it was cooked perfect (she gets medium) and I ordered the hibachi chicken. The atmosphere was nice, however, my wife got very cold mid way through the dinner so they really could've turned up the heat. Overall, we'd give this a 3.5/5 even though we put four. read more

I have eaten at the Fuji in Middleton so I was expecting this place to be on par. Unfortunately the Middleton location is a lot better. The interior is fine. It's open and decorated to theme. It is also pretty clean for the most part. Service was alright. Our server was friendly but for some reason she didn't bring our entrees out at the same time and I had to wait a couple minutes for mine. On to the food. We got our soup and salads right away. The miso soup was delicious, the salad was not. Also the presentation was terrible. There was a pile of dressing slapped on top which I believe was thousand islands and it was all spilled on the side of the bowl. Next came our coconut shrimp. The flavors were good but again presentation wasn't very appetizing. They also put way too much sauce on it. Lastly, I ordered the teriyaki scallop bento box and it was good. The tempura wasn't my favorite, California roll was alright but the scallops were pretty good. The boyfriend got the eel sashimi and it was delicious, he loved his meal. Fuji is a beautiful restaurant, and it smells so good inside. We had the sukiyaki steak. It came with vegetables that were delicious and beautiful to look at. The onion soup was fantastic. The steak was melt in your mouth great. Wow!! The salad was the only disappointing item on the table. However, the ginger house dressing makes putting up with the sad iceberg lettuce more than worth it. So good! I can't wait to go back!! PS Get yum-yum sauce, just saying. read more

My wife ice and I ate here a few months ago. Disturbing and disappointing at best. So it's Covid and we stop for dinner on a slow week night. We are sat in the main room not the hibachi room. So traditional table service. We sit down. I slide in to the booth and it's literally covered in this gooey substance all over the edge of the table. So now it's all over me and my shirt. I'm pretty usually pretty forgiving on tables that are a bit less than clean ...but this was legitimately gross...and COVID! So I excuse , ask the waiter to wipe it down and order drinks. So I get back, no drinks. Table still dirty. Now I'm pissed. Get the waiter back, they move us to another table immediately! Fine! Solved. We order our food . Salad comes. Mid salad , this woman , who doesn't apologize or say anything about the grotesque nature of her table, asks us to move again. WTAF?! Apparently , the waiter put us in a table that throws off the Covid separation. I say, no thank you. What does it matter what the food is like when the service is completely off the rails? This last time I ordered hibachi steak and veggies from the table and it came with microwaved veggies. I was very disappointed. We arrived on New Year's Eve and checked in at 7:09 pm. We waited at the bar where the bartender only served one side of the bar, 25 minutes later and finally a waitress came and took our drink order. We waited another 30 minutes for the waitress to come back and get us another round as the bartender would not serve our group. When we moved to the other side of the bar the bartender purposely ignored us for 25 minutes trying to order drinks as there was no one else at the bar. We saw people come in later than us and being taken for hibachi before us. Finally at 9:20 we were seated after asking repeatedly as we were the only ones left in the waiting area. The hostess had written our group of 4 down and everyone below us was crossed off. No apology was given for the mistake. We were seated at 9:20 and did not get our entree until 10 pm! The food was mediocre and chef made it known he was ready to be done for the night so he did not perform the normal hibachi tricks. No free drinks were given or even an apology for the wait. Compared to Wasabi in Weston this place was a joke, portions were small on the entrees and not flavorful but double the price. I've worked in the restaurant business for 13 yrs and this was unacceptable. Will not be returning. read more

I took my fiancé and step kids for their first Hibachi experience and OMG what a total bust!! The chef we got did none of the tricks usually done nor did he interact with us at all. Fuji Sushi is one of my favorite restaurants in Eau Claire. The Yum-Yum/Sexy Sauce is amazing; it's probably the main reason why I crave eating here all the time. The fried rice is really good, as well. If you're going to eat Hibachi meals, though, I would recommend sitting at the grill and not ordering it from a booth. When you order from the dining/booth area, the portion is much smaller and the vegetables are just steamed and not flavored. The fried rice is also not as flavorful as when you sit at Hibachi grill. The Hibachi chefs are great! They are very funny and entertaining. Our favorite is probably Sammy. The sushi is presented nicely and tastes great. The only reason I didn't give a 5-star rating, would be because of some of the servers. While some are great, a bunch of them are very impersonable and don't really seem to like their jobs; it shows when they are waiting on their tables. It's extremely annoying to arrive at the establishment and know that you will be paying extra money to sit at the hibachi tables, and then be sat on the side of the table instead of right in the middle where viewing is best. And THEN when a party of people come in after you, THEY are the ones sat in the middle. So to recap, how is it standard practice to give priority to people who are arriving after people that have been waiting. And on top of that, we now get to wait until these people finish deciding what they want to eat, when we've been ready to order appetizers for 10 minutes now. Have been here several times for Hibachi in the dining area. The service is not ideal. I saw my server on a not busy evening once in between when he brought me my food and when he gave me my bill, so I couldn't get any water refills. Sadly if you get Hibachi in the dining area, while it comes out fast it tastes like the chicken and veggies have been made an hour or two ago and just sitting in a vat or heating container until bring brought out, as a result veggies were pretty bland and chicken a bit flavorless and not juicy, despite some sauce being ran on it. Some things on the menu are also worded a bit silly, the "two shrimp appetizer" on hibachi dining area is referring to 2 pieces of shrimp mixed in with the chicken hibachi. read more

Yes. Yes! YES! In my opinion: this is the BEST place to get sushi in the Eau Claire area. I have never had a bad experience here, and the red snapper is TO DIE FOR. Sitting at the sushi bar is an experience in itself: being able to watch Fuji's skilled chefs whip up your meal, while providing a tasty appetizer. They have this Yum Yum sauce that I'm over the moon for. It's the perfect addition to literally anything on their menu. The Hibachi show is pretty great too. The routine is very well thought-out, very entertaining, and a great get-to-know-your-neighbors experience. I found myself laughing throughout a majority of it and staring in awe the other part of the time. Servings are very generous - and you won't leave hungry. read more
