I am writing this review to give Doreen Biasi's AKC Dachshund NY my highest recommendation. The breeding practices here are excellent. The dogs are raised and live in the family home. The parents and pups are very well cared for and socialized. Her breeding adults come from all over the world to establish the best lines. Indeed, many of these dogs are among the best examples of the breed and are champions. The parents are genetically tested and the pairings are designed to rule out problem conditions. If you read about dachshund coat color genetics it is actually quite complicated, and indeed there are crosses that could result in health problems. Doreen explains on her website why some pairings are unethical for this reason. Aside from those technical considerations, the dachshunds here are just gorgeous. I mean, look at them! Just beautiful dogs! Just about every coat color you could imagine is represented in her crosses. Most importantly, Doreen is selective about which adults are bred in order to establish lines with the best temperaments. Some of her adult dachshunds compete in dog shows, where they place very well, often with the highest honors. I first contacted Doreen by phone to inquire about specific dachshunds that were available and to ask general questions. She answered all my questions very honestly and to the point, and helped enormously in narrowing down which dog was the best fit. We communicated several more times over the phone and by text and she was always responsive, helpful, and patient. The business is truly a family operation: her daughter Ashley helped me troubleshoot when I encountered a problem with making the deposit online. Ryan drove hours to deliver our dog, and was polite, good humored, and professional. I'll comment that the cost of the pups at AKC Dachshund NY may be higher than at other places, but when you consider the hundreds of hours of love, care and training that go into your future family member I think it is well worth it. In the end we chose Celeste, an 18 month old longhaired black, white and tan dapple. I couldn't imagine a sweeter or gentler dog. She is the perfect combination of playful, calm, and affectionate. She is also pretty quiet - she doesn't bark except maybe once or twice when the mail is being delivered. Her socialization prior to coming to our family was excellent. She is friendly with all people and other dogs, and especially sweet with kids. Everyone who meets her falls in love with her: the vet, doggy day care, visitors, etc. If you look at the videos on the webpage or facebook you'll see Doreen's youngest son playing with the puppies, and I credit him for Celeste being so good with children. She is also doing very well with training. She has brought so much joy and love to our family! When we are ready to get Celeste a friend, I would choose AKC Dachshund NY again in a heartbeat. read more

horrible experience very deceptive. Total lack of communication about the delivery process. She never mentioned a sense of urgency about time and then kept my $50 deposit. Stay away. Big promises and no delivery or follow through. I heard about was what a great deal I was getting and nothing happened. She had completely unrealistic expectations of me to pick up the dog, adding anywhere from $800-$1100 in flight cost and then expecting me to drive seven hours to the middle of Florida for a more reasonable flight. She also offered the service of her daughter for a cost, and then reneged on that option. I only got involved because she was a friend of my sister's sorry to say. I felt totally scammed. And when I expressed my feelings to the daughter. She said I was harassing her. Great customer service not. And then on top of that threaten to charge me extra for boarding and food. Totally unethical. I never had that experience working with a breeder usually they were more concerned about the home. their puppies were going to rather than speed of delivery. WHAT GOOD IS A DISCOUNT IF YOU DONT HAVE THE DOG!!!!! Talk is cheap cooperation goes a long way. And PS you contacted me. Look around I'm not the only negative review. When I made the decision to purchase the pup it was 8:45 PM on Saturday 6/14. I had not talked to my friend yet, but thought maybe she would be able to help me, unfortunately she had former plans. Besides that I live alone and had to find a pet sitter if I went anywhere on a minutes notice, and there were several other factors to consider to my not being able to jump immediately. That you never disclosed such urgency, was completely inappropriate and certainly changed our agreement. It was never mentioned in the contract that you sent me the next day. Last month, I inquired about the dog and decided no since I was dealing with an elderly Doberman with heart issues, that had some pretty hefty vet bill. So not to discuss but immediately threatened to increase expenses on the puppy purchase did not feel justifiable or amicable. Driving seven hours round-trip and several hours in the dark with a new puppy after 10 hours in the airport was not a reasonable choice for me. Also, I was willing to pay for the dog in FULL, before even picking her up. You can your justify your behavior anyway you want but a reasonable breeder would've worked out a solution that was doable for both parties. So basically you and stole my $50. Say what you want this is a Despicable act and almost as despicable as talking about someone's deceased sister on a posting regarding a business transaction. Absolutely horrific !!! My experience with AKC Dachshund NY and the owner, Doreen, was HORRIBLE! I recognize that there's a contract signed, but there seems to be no empathy and just cares about the dollars. Back in March 2022, my brother, who has a mental disability, had reached out to Doreen to purchase a Dachshund without my knowledge. I learned later that he had also signed a Contract that indicated the sale was nonrefundable with additional strict terms, however, noted that we could give back the puppy if we are unable to care for it. Because he spent over $3000-4000 to buy this - sadly, we tried our hardest to care for this puppy to the best of our ability but the responsibility and costs to care for a puppy was not in our reach after further research. We want the puppy to have the right home, but since we were not allowed to resell it or giveaway per the contract, we had reached out via text to Doreen's assistant, Ashley, person my brother had met to pick up the dog to explain my brother's disabilities, that he doesn't understand the major responsibilities of caring for a dog and that the money was taken from the family funds, and due to financial hardships we asked for partial refund with understanding that we had the dog for 2-DAYS and they may have to quarantine the puppy before reselling. My brother and I went together to meet up with Ashley later in the day, as she was in town nearby for a Dog Show to hand over the precious pup. She mentioned that Doreen would consider our situation. We also emailed Doreen before we dropped the dog off to let her know. We never received any response or a call from Doreen - my brother confirmed she never messaged or called him back either. I sent her 1 follow-up a few days later, but no response back. Today, 3-months after my last follow-up, I reached out once more for consideration, she responded immediately but the utter response from Doreen was gross, unkind, hurtful and just nasty - no sense of empathy, I was SHOCKED! I have been nothing but respectful via texts and emails to her and Ashley. She went on to call us liars and threatened us with lawyers to stop emailing her. (Sharing the email response from her attached). Doreen did no proper vetting of the buyer - no checking of income and no video chats to see the home conditions. Even pet shelters have an extensive vetting process before giving their animals up for adoption. If she had done the proper vetting, she would see that my sweet brother does not have the means to care for an animal. At the end of the day, I understand there is no refund and a contract was signed. But the lack of empathy from this woman shows the kind of business she runs and the care she provides to her dogs and customers. Less of a review and more of a PSA announcement about AKCdachshundNY. I did not buy my doxie from Doreen and I am glad. This woman does not run her business on care or compassion, but on greed. When I came to her as a 25-year-old hoping to get advice and learn about what would be my first dog, she told me that unless I paid her outrageous, and frankly criminal prices for puppies (anywhere from $10-15,000) that I would end up with a dog that couldn't walk, see... scared me into thinking I had to pay these prices for this breed or it would have absurd health problems. I called my parents crying, thinking I just couldn't have a dachshund. That could not be more untrue. For $1,800, I have a beautiful, healthy, happy long-haired mini doxie. My little best friend. How dare this woman scare people into thinking they have to pay her million-dollar salary for sweet little dogs. To add to the absurdity, she texted me multiple times that the puppies were "NOW ON SALE for $7,000!," each time lowering the price. Trust me when I say there are much more loving, caring breeders out there than this one, who care more about their babies and the families who adopt, and less about the money they will make. read more

In June of 2021, I reached out to Doreen upon finding her in a reputable NE Dachshund breeder Facebook group. I vetted her social media, website, and testimonies posted on her site. I concluded that she must be a great breeder given her extensive following, numerous AKC championships, and celebrity endorsements. At the time, I was on a handful of waitlists from other local breeders. She was the only person on my list who had puppies available to go home immediately, and truth be told, I think I had my mind made up before I ever even spoke with her. That was my first mistake. When I called her, she immediately asked me for my budget and degraded me when I told her I wanted to spend around $2500 (which by the way, was the average going rate on all of the other lists I had been on in my area). She made a comment about my voice on the phone and concluded that I must be a young, naive girl who couldn't afford her prices. In hindsight, if that's how she really felt, she should've also asked me what my living situation was like and what my plan was to care for this puppy after I brought him home. While all of those other "inferior" breeders vetted me, she did not ask me questions about my living arrangements or home life. Instead, she asked me questions about the other breeders I was dealing with, and had a long discussion with me about genetics and how any breeder who is ethically breeding these puppies would never be able to sell them for a decent profit at that price. She seemed to know what she was talking about, so I went along with it. Fast forward through about a week of back and fourth, she offered me a discounted! price of $5000 for a 12 week old "leftover" without a health guarantee, which I agreed to. (This puppy is whom I had been eyeing the whole time) I could have opted for a health guarantee for an additional $1500 which also included a welcome home kit, but why should I need that if her puppies are the best of the best? I accepted her offer, and picked the puppy up from her daughter Ashley at their home in East Meredith, NY because she told me she was in the process of moving. By the way, this property was gorgeous. They had a huge compound on numerous acres of land, and the transaction took place on their front porch. I was never invited inside to meet the other puppies or his parents, but nothing seemed unusual at this point, so I happily left with my puppy whom I decided to name Pablo. During that transaction, I signed a no-breed contract which stated I needed to get Pablo neutered by 6 months. He was supposedly pad trained, but did not take to it at all when I brought him home. He barely knew what a pad was. He tore it up and used it as a toy. I could not potty train him for the life of me, and decided to exclusively take him outside and forgo the pads. His first few months home were draining. He had Giardia and all types of urinary issues including crystals in his urine. His vet initially thought he had a UTI which then grew resistant to antibiotics. I had to postpone his neutering appointment at 6 months because of these ongoing issues. At that point, I reached out to Doreen to let her know he wouldn't be fixed in time per our contract. This was my FIRST and ONLY interaction with her since I sent her the money for Pablo (three months later!). I also explained all of his health problems and received the most thoughtless response in return. When he was finally healthy enough to be neutered, he was about 9 months old. He had racked up hundreds of dollars in vet bills between numerous urine cultures, stool samples, an ultrasound, and antibiotics. I never heard from Doreen again. Pablo has since been healthy, but I was appalled by her lack of support or interest in his issues. To this day, she never asked for proof of him being neutered, nor has she done any type of wellness check. I also never received any AKC paperwork for him, but at that point I felt like it wasn't worth the aggravation of dealing with her since I knew I would never breed or show him. Fast forward to 1.5 years later, and I see a press release from the Delaware County Sheriffs Department regarding the Arrests of Doreen and Ashley Biasi on animal abuse and neglect charges. Upon further investigation, I could infer that Pablo's health complications likely resulted from the conditions in which he lived in before I adopted him. Doreen is running a major operation which should not be taken lightly. As always, do your due diligence when purchasing an animal and especially do your research on Doreen Biasi before supporting this puppy mill. Attached is the only correspondence I was able to have with Doreen regarding the issues my puppy was experiencing. She was cold, neglectful, and downright uninterested in conversing with me, which was absolutely not the same energy I received when she was soliciting me to purchase a dog from her 3 months prior. if I could give -10 stars I would. This woman is extremely distasteful. She is a monstrosity of our satanic evil. I was hoping to buy a dog from her after seeing the Chrisleys dog. but when I called there was no personable conversation, she immediately said "what's your budget?" I expressed to her that I did not have a budget, and she rudely came back saying "everyone has a budget, what are you looking to spend?" I expressed to her that $2,500 was a good starting point for me, and she immediately shot me down, and told me any dog that is that price will die by the age of 5. How rude, insensitive and cruel does this woman have to be to tell me a small dog is just going to drop dead if I don't spend $8,000 on one of her dogs. She said no where in the country would sell me a dog for that price unless it came from a black market backyard breeder. My stomach turned with the way she spoke to me. I can not believe this is how someone runs their business. She then tried to tell me how her cancer makes her prices the way they are, because she is disabled and unable to handle an exuberant amount of stress. I am appalled with the mean spirited reviews I have been reading about Doreen and the so called neglect of her dogs. I have known her since 2016 when I bought one of her dachshunds. He came to me healthy,well fed,loving and just all around the best dog I have ever had. I have had dachshunds for years but from other breeders. Of course I adored them, but their dispositions cannot compare to the dog I bought from Doreen. Before my current dog was old enough for us to bring him home, my partner would visit him at Doreen's home. She always told me how happy and well taken care of all the puppies and older dogs were. Doreen is not an abuser of dogs! Those who say she is must have a personal grind against her. To disparage a woman who is a loving and top notch breeder of perfect dachshunds is unpardonable.
