Service department opens Monday to Friday and closes at 5. Saturday it's quick lane only. It takes about 2-3 hr for a quick lane oil change. They do not try to upsell you and I left without anything breaking so that's a plus in my book. read more

This review is for the actual dealership, not the service department. There isn't a separate listing for Akins Ford and there are reviews for sales here so I guess I'll do my review for my purchase here as well. I felt like having a small truck around would be good to have and saw some attractive incentives on Ranger's. I did a lot of online looking and noticed that the best selection was here at Akins Ford in Winder Georgia. I found three different Rangers on their lot that could all possibly work for me so I emailed them to be sure that the one that I liked the best was still in their inventory. Frank was quick to respond and invite me out to drive the truck. If you've seen new car dealership parking lots lately, I'm sure you've noticed how bare they are. This parking lot is humongous and I'm told that pre Covid, was completely filled up. When we arrived at the dealership, we could see that inventory was way down but they still had way more than everyone else. Frank was great to work with and allowed us all the time we needed to make up our mind. We drove away that night in a new Ranger and I slept well that night knowing that I got a good deal. Everything was low pressure and no extras were pushed on me (like extended warranty, maintenance plans, etc) like I've had at other dealerships. I believe that Akins Ford is where I'll do my business from here on out. They're the seventh largest Ford dealership by volume and have customers from all over I'm told. This dealership does something interesting during these odd times and it's a way to keep their inventory up. They purchase vehicles (I guess that's what they do) from other Ford dealerships around the country. Several of the Rangers that I looked at and one of the Broncos on the showroom floor all showed on the window stickers that they had been originally sold and shipped to other dealerships in other states. The Ranger that I bought came from a dealership in Missouri. Frank told me that they buy from smaller dealerships to keep their inventory up. I just wonder what kind of a deal they get from the dealership when doing this because I know that I got a great price on my Ranger and don't know how they could have purchased it from the Missouri dealer at a lower price. The only downfall to this for the buyer is that they do hit you with a $750 transportation fee. Maybe they pay way less than this to transport them and this is where the profit comes from. It's a good thing that I love my wife. I went there to buy the Oxford White Lariat but my wife loved that Cactus Grey Lariat. The white one was originally ordered by Akins and shipped to Akins so it didn't have the$750 add on that the grey one did. Well, the grey one is in our driveway now and my wife is happy, even though we're $750 poorer. Here's a picture. For the record the oldest mobile technician they have is 21 years old. They sent a guy out to my sisters house to do a drivetrain software update on her car. It was a recall the service was free. We put her car in the garage before they got there. They did their thing knocked on the door and told my sister that they were done and that if she needed a new battery after they left to call and they could get her one. She didn't understand what that meant Until she tried to start the car and it was completely dead. I got a voltmeter and the battery said 0.00 V. The technician and the dealer both blamed it on cold weather which we've barely had in Georgia at all they brought her another battery charged her $200 for it and left, they claimed that it was normal and natural for a battery to go from working perfectly to 100% dead during the 15 minutes that they were there. If people understood how car dealerships are designed, and the people are trained in every department they would understand that new car dealerships are one of the largest criminal organizations in the country. If there was an exception, it would stand out like a shining light. But there isn't. Unless you're really rich, then you don't mind getting robbed or overpaying. read more

Went into the dealership on 2/12 traded my 2024 king ranch tremor f350 in on a 2024 lariat 250. My salesman was Tommy bolles and my finance manager was noe ponce. I was very adamant about not wanting gps trackers being put in the vehicles. I was told by both guys that the truck didn't have one. Well it was pouring rain that day so the following day I get out in the driveway and check the truck out. The truck had multiple touch up spots on the paint. And I opened the glove box and what do I find? Apex gps tracker information about the tracker installed on the truck. Then I contacted both men via email and phone. I was never responded to until I went to the chief sales operations guy Tony Herrera (which is an awesome guy by the way) he gave me to homero another salesman. (Which was awesome as well) they give me a who new truck. Well after a few days I realized this truck didn't have all the features of the first truck. Also the bed cover had no keys and waited for 2 weeks and still never got them. Well they tried to give me a third truck. Which I was fine with until Mr noe ponce decided to call me yesterday and insisted on calling me "bud" "bro" and was rude saying he didn't know what was going on. So now I'm out of a truck and was given a check for the equity I had in my trade. Basically I wouldn't step near this place to do business with them. And be sure to ask about the gps trackers! Beware is you need service above/beyound standard oil change!! Took my truck in for schd service and wanted them to check heated seats that stopped working. They first tell me that I schd the wrong service for that and I would be required to leave the truck for (2) days for that type of service. The Ford App doesn't allow for any service schd outside standard oil changes.. Beware if you need other work done.. It is end of Dec. and I being told it will be end of MARCH before someone can even check out the sit problem.. If they need parts, it could be additional MONTHS to get in the parts.. This is the worst case of CUSTOMER SERVICE I've ever seen. read more

This was first trip to Akins Ford/Dodge/Chrysler. Amazing facility with a huge lot and service center. Ethan Ward was my Quick Lane Advisor- he was courteous, friendly and knowledgeable. Dropped my truck off at 8:50 for a 9:00 appointment for brakes, plugs and 90.000 mile service. Done by 12:30 - amazingly quick. And I was given a ride home by a beautiful young lady and the truck was delivered back to me by a fun older fella. Service with a smile and cost less than I expected from the manufacturer's garage. Way to go Akin- you've earned my business I'll be in the market for a new truck in the next year and will surely give you first shot for the sale. Keep up the great service read more

The service department here is broken. I have literally given up. Customer service and communication with the customer is non existent here. The worst part is no one in management or ownership cares. This place has adopted a sense of entitlement and could care less about "service." Just dropped a new truck off yesterday morning to have the backup camera replaced. Less than 500 miles on truck and backup camera failed. Dropped it off first thing in the morning for a 1 hour replacement. Never heard back from anyone. This is typical. No communication. Called over there towards end of the day and they said service advisor was gone for the day. No info. Now no truck to drive. They basically said we'd have to talk to our advisor tomorrow. Ridiculous. Service manager cares less too. Go anywhere else but here for service! Akins should be reserved for last resort emergency only. read more

Took my f150 there Feb2020 for small oil leak and they charged me 1200 and said they fixed it. 2 weeks later I'm smelling the same burnt oil and see smoke from the same right side of the hood. Took it back and now they say I have a new oil leak and want another 600 to fix. I'll take it somewhere that knows how to fix better than they know how to charge. I had a appt in April to have it rechecked but canceled because of COVID. Called back in March and May 5th was the earliest they could see it. read more

My vehicle cut off on me while driving Friday, January 22nd. The battery and check engine light came on and I could not crank the car back up. My husband pushed it to a shopping center and I had it towed to Akins Ford in Winder (of which I have been a repeat customer for years) to be serviced. The service department at Akins Ford in Winder put me and my family through an extreme inconvenience for over a week due to their lack of care and concern, specifically from service advisor Scott Tackabury. Mr. Tackabury displayed a great amount of unprofessionalism and inadequacy in customer service skills. He also disregarded the COVID-19 pandemic and did not wear a mask during any of our interactions. The completion of repairs on my vehicle was scheduled to be on Wednesday, January 27. Mr. Tackabury informed me that I would be able to return and pick up my vehicle on that evening. Prior to that conversation, he failed to mention that he would be taking that day off, preventing my vehicle from being serviced due to the fact that no other service advisor had information on my vehicle. He also did not inform me that, the part that was ordered for my vehicle's repair had not even been shipped at that point. Because Mr. Tackabury was not working that day, no further details could be conveyed to me on the status of my vehicle or the parts needed to repair it. Akins Ford in Winder dropped the ball on communicating with me, my husband and Scott Tackabury to make sure they stuck to their word on having my repaired vehicle returned to me on the day agreed upon. This could have been avoided ahead of time and remedied during the incident. The following day when Scott returned back to work, I received a text message (from another employee named Norma) informing me that my car was finally ready for pick up. Upon arrival, I was informed that all repairs to my vehicle had been completed and there were no other issues. I cranked up my car and turned on the AC/Heat and the car completely cut off. The battery and check engine light came on again. It was not fixed. Mr. Tackabury informed me that the A/C compressor is bad and in order to allow my vehicle to operate without it, he needed to remove the relay so my car wouldn't turn off once I pressed the AC button. Instead of apologizing for demonstrating a complete oversight of another problem with my vehicle, he said I would need more repairs and would have to come out of pocket to receive another service. He told me the AC Compressor was the only problem with the vehicle at this point. Scott declined assisting me and my husband with immediate services on the vehicle and told us nothing more could be done for us except to buy another part and pay again for more services. Mr. Tackabury refused to reach out to the service Manager Jason Setser or Assistant Service Manager Brandy Hayes, to resolve the issue my husband and I faced at this point. Scott displayed a lackadaisical attitude toward the predicament that we faced and refused to offer any assistance for our extreme inconvenience. The following morning Scott called me and told me there were actually MORE repairs that needed to be made on my vehicle and that it would be another $1,400 to fix everything. At this point I was beyond infuriated with Akins Ford as a company and Scott Tackabury. My husband and I were baffled by his display of an egregious lack of communication, incompetence, negligence and disregard for our tremendous inconvenience despite being loyal customers. read more

I brought my Jeep in for an oil change and I have been hearing a whining noise in my transfer case. I dropped it off Tuesday at 11 and was told it would be 48hrs to diagnose. Fast forward to Friday at 1:00. I call only to be told service advisor Vanessa is in training. I ask them to have her call me when she's done. I'm told that will be at 2:00. 2:40 I call again this time Vanessa is on the phone. I'm told she's very busy with her customers. What am I Chopped Liver?? I again agree to have her call me back. 3:10. Still no call from Vanessa. I call again she still can't come to the phone. Again I say have her call me. 4:15 I call again, again they try to put me off. I say no I'll hold for her. Finally Vanessa gets on the phone and tells me my Jeep hadn't been assigned to a tech yet. I'm livid. I ask her POINT BLANK has the oil change been done? She tells me yes it has. I ask to speak to her supervisor. Enter JP stage right. JP tells me he's going to get someone right on it and will call me back. When he calls me back he informs me he got them to do the oil change and then they did the test drive. Wait what ... the oil change was supposedly done. Vanessa lied God I hate being lied to. I mean come on. Then JP tells me they will park it out front for late pick up. SURPRISE they didn't do that either. What a cluster f##$. Oh and a comment was made about it being overdue for oil change. Well I took it in for an oil change 3 months ago and left after 3 hours without oil change. I guess from now on I'll just have to make the drive to go somewhere else. The incompetence was excruciating. Today is Monday December 19 and I am editing my post of two days ago. Yesterday I got in my Jeep and the oil light came on. It is a quart low. I had an appointment for an oil change for a van. I arrived a little early and left the key with the service rep. Two hours and 20 minutes later it was done. Their excuse was because it is a large vehicle they have limited bays and they were all occupied when I arrived. However since I had an appt and they knew the appt was for a van there should have been a big bay open for my appt. An hour and 15 minutes after I arrived I asked and was given this answer. No one ever bothered to volunteer and tell me why it was taking so long. I had to ask. No one ever bothered to volunteer and tell me anything without me asking. I was told by a salesman that on rainy days companies with outdoor businesses bring their trucks in to be serviced, so I am assuming these trucks without appts took priority over me, the individual with an appt. They didn't charge me for it, it is the last time I go there for service. After I made the appt they sent me 2 email reminders and called to confirm because they don't want to waste the appt slot if I don't show up, but they don't mind wasting my time. read more

I have had my vehicle serviced here since I purchased it. Oil changes, 30K service, etc. Approximately 6 months ago I purchased four new tires at a cost of $1,000. I have had a slow leak in my tire for a couple weeks now. I took it into the dealer and they notified me that there was a nail in the side wall and I would need a new tire. At which time they informed me I would need a new tire. Come to find out the $1,000 worth of tires have no road hazard like every other major tire dealer in Atlanta. They also charged me $10 to tell me I had a nail in my tire. It's been fun Akins, but I will never purchase or service another vehicle at your dealership. I will warn everybody I meet to avoid this place! read more

I took my Explorer in for a new battery and for check/repair of the exhaust system on a recall letter. I was told the project would take 2 1/2 hours and I decided to be driven home instead of waiting. During the wait (which turned into 5 hours) I received a call from the scheduling person that it is time for a radiator flush at nearly $200 and a front end alignment (cost?). I double-checked the owner's manual and also the internet and found the time for radiator flush is 30,000 miles or 5 years unless the car overheats, or is leaking fluid. My car has 16,000 miles on it, so this was not a true statement. Also, a check of my tires show little if any wear, and no uneven wear, so another attempt at selling me something I don't want, and don't need. I'm sorry Akin has stooped to this level of attempting to sell something that is not needed. I will continue to go there for oil changes, but anything more I'll get a second opinion and keep myself informed of Ford recommendations. read more

I have been coming to Akins for my truck needs and it's just progressively gotten worse. Came in today to get an oil change and tire rotation and I'm still waiting after 2 + hours!!! I went to Akins Ford at Athens because my vehicle's engine had a vibrating sound that needed taking a look at. They came back with a repair sheet totaling over 3500 dollars and $775 for just general maintenance alone .I felt something was off and wanted a second opinion so I decided to go to a different place to verify what they said and compare prices before going back. The other place said there's nothing wrong with my car except that it needed a new idler pulley and belt. The scary thing is this wasn't even on the ford list of repairs and ford gave me a whole list of unnecessary repairs. I also had the idler pulley and the belt replaced by ford last year as well but they knew it was still under warranty so they didn't mention it at all. The idler pulley and belt was the actual cause of the vibrating sound in the engine but ford said it was the exhaust catalytic converter but there's nothing wrong with the catalytic converter at all.. So if you decide to go with them, get a second opinion from a separate mechanic before you ever agree to let them work on your car. They're in it for price goggling and not you or the vehicle. read more
