I've been having issues connecting my phone to Apple Play with the newly installed head unit. I made an appointment and they took the time to investigate the issue and found out I was using an incorrect phone cord. The cord I was using was charge only, not charge/data. Super simple fix. My experience today. I went here because i saw they had great reviews I figured it was a professional and reliable establishment. I called in the morning to see how long it would take to get a stereo and a back up camera installed. Sales rep said 3 to 4 hours so I decided to visit establishment and get the job done. After we agreed on the equipment and the pricing, I asked how long it would take to complete the job. Sales rep Robert said 3 to 4 hours. Which I thought it was reasonable so I went to the mall across the street. Came back 3 1/2 hours later, and my vehicle hadn't even been started. I asked how much longer. He said it should be ready before closing hours. At that point, I told him I would return because my electric wheelchair was at 9% battery. My battery got low due to the fact we went around the mall for 3 1/2 hours. I still agreed to come back another day to get the job done. And this happened. ROBERT said he didn't have any more days available for me to come back and get the job done. He also said he wasn't a magician to get the job done in 3 hours. as I was walking out (rolling out). He yelled at me and said DON'T COME BACK! Worst customer service ever! read more

My dad and I have been coming here for years and these guys are amazing. They have did work on our boat, rhyno, cars, truck, and installed car alarms on our vehicles. The guys Dave from back in the day, Dallas is the man such a courteous highly knowledgeable! He's always taking care of your audio needs. Robert and Darren are also very knowledable in car audio. I will say this... you get what you pay for... meaning these guys know what they're doing, I've never had a messed up system from this shop. Everything has always been quality and very clean work. I've been going to the Ontario Al & Ed's now for 20 years now. I have had problems with my installs or merchandise and never had a problem with them correcting the problem. No receipt or just showing up and explaining my problem. No problem they always took great care of me and my autos installs. It's great to see some companies still have integrity nowadays. To me I don't think Yelp has a high enough score to give them. That's why I just go to them & not another installer and have them check it out for you. There's a reason I take it to them. My Toyota Camrys infotainment system was a problem the whole time I have had the car. Toyota was not helpful at all and wanted 4400.00 to replace it,PluS labor. Wtf. I went to Al and Ed's and they replaced the whole system for less than 2000.00. I called about 2 weeks ago and explained my situation. I have a 2021 Ford Ranger and wanted a sub and amp with a fiberglass installment. The original man I spoke to on the phone estimated my cost at $6-700. I came in to get an official quote on my vehicle, for the basic amp, sub, and fiberglass they quoted me at over $2,000. I was in shock with this price. They told me it would be $1,200 just in labor. I will be most likely be making my custom box on my own. Very disappointed. read more

I originally went to Al & Ed's for an estimate to enhance my sound system, not expecting to commit, I was immediately comfortable agreeing to the price because Robert made me feel comfortable right away, he was honest and upfront with what he recommended. I agreed to get the work done and we agreed to a later date. I received a call from him a couple of days later telling me that he had a cancellation and if I was interested in getting the work done sooner....SOLD. I went right away dropped off my car and was kept informed throughout the process. Just a forewarning, I didn't get any service done at this shop and in all fairness they also seem like they care about their work and are a reputable shop, their tech seemed fairly knowledgeable too. The next part is where they lost me as a client. I came in asking about fixing my existing system I had another shop touch. They didn't happen to perform a solitary ground on the stock headunit and amp and was getting ground loop noise; could be fixed by grounding back to battery or grounding to the same isolated location. I tried explaining this to the last shop but they insisted it was my amp. Which I know it was not. Instead of continuing the argument or have them use other poor quality wiring again, I decided to stop by this shop since I saw the good reviews. For my fix I essentially needed a grounding wire placed in the same spot and potentially some of the wiring upgraded because the last shop put in garbage wiring. The speaker corridor is a straight run on my vehicle since the wires were already spliced (New Gen Silverado) and literally can be done by popping off panels in 5 min. I think they saw that I was looking for help and wanted it done fast this is when the BS started hitting. The individual I was dealing with started rolling off number and time frames and even noting some incorrect information. I was originally told labor is $175/hr which is clearly posted on their sign inside the shop. That's fair. Any shop can charge what they want. My engineering firm charges that same rate for a licensed civil engineer that designs freeways, traffic signals, sewer and water systems for cities (4 years of college and min 4 years of professional experience and has taken and passed 2-8 hour exams and 2-3.5 hours exams from the Board of Engineers for California). But hey its post pandemic, maybe my rates are too low. I was told soldering my 8 wires speaker wires back together adding a speaker breakout harness ($80+/-) with an LC2 output ($150+/-) would cost $1200 minimum with parts and labor (this is marking the labor down to $150/hr) and to fix the ground loop would need to be an open checkbook with the clock running on top of the $1,200. The labor alone was 5 hour minimum, he mentioned that about 3 hours for soldering wires. I don't think they knew I was an licensed engineer myself and literally do hobbyist electrical work and computer systems building. Anyone with an M12 soldering iron can reach in under my dash and solder 8 wires in about 20-30 min with shrink wrap, extensions, etc. Also if adding an LC2 takes two hours ill be dumbfounded because everything was already spliced and the unit is literally a screw in and tap unit. I played dumb to see how far they would take it. Really they wanted me to commit to an open checkbook on a source where I believe they very much knew the issue and were going to further overcharge for labor and time. I came here seeking help on an issue and I just found this tactic incredibly dishonest. I felt like if someone didn't know better they would take advantage of them. I just can't handle that. I told them I would let them know if I wanted to go forward, but I wont be calling back. I'd say if your getting something routine done, maybe they are okay on price because it's more competitive, but if you need something fixed I'd go somewhere else. I'll be fixing it myself, which is what I was trying to avoid as I'm super busy running a business, but oh well. read more

Poor job installing stereo in my truck and trailer, I had to get both redone and re wired. Speakers mounted on outside of my trailer they didn't use enough spacers and forced speaker in, inside bathroom wall bulging from it. Didn't tune any of the stereos with amps I bought. Al & Ed's Auto Sound Is The BEST!!! Al & Ed's at Ontario Mills has been providing me with top-notch quality service for many years. Just in the past few months, I had them install USB charging ports in two of my vehicles; however, yesterday they totally outdid themselves with a fabulous installation of a new Pioneer CD Player (the factory model in my Toyota had "died"). What was especially pleasant (and made me want to leave this feedback) was, that Louie (their front desk / service representative) spent about 1/2 an hour with me (while I was picking up my truck -- AFTER their work had been completed) taking me through the steps that were required in order to download an "AndroidAuto App" onto my phone, and then showing me how to get the most out of my new system (which he really didn't HAVE to do). I very much appreciated his professionalism, and Al & Ed's philosophy that "They are not happy, until the CUSTOMER is Happy." I would highly recommend Al & Ed's at Ontario Mills, and Louie's excellent customer service, to anyone who is interested in getting the best equipment and service for their vehicle's sound system -- at a REASONABLE price. read more

Took my car in so they can replace my old radio with a new one I bought online. After it was all set up the radio turned off by itself twice because it was found to be defective. They made sure to check this before I left with a bad radio. Instead of leaving without a radio, they gave me at least 5 different options for ones that they had in stock. The price ranged from cheaper than what I bought online up to the price I paid. I left with an even better radio, warranty and as a happy customer! The sales man at the front desk was extremely helpful and kept me updated. I would definitely recommend this spot. Also, they say it's "first come, first serve" when you arrive. read more

Had them install an Inverter and amp in my new truck, which was a rip off but I agreed to the cost so only have myself to upset with. I had them wire my existing power Inverter and since it's installation, had issues with its operation so I ended up buying a new one. Since they ran the wires, I decided to install the new one myself. Upon removing the old one, found they wired incorrectly which is why it wasn't working. Usually take my cars to the Audio Shoppe in Riverside but this business was closer and thought for a small job, would be cheaper. At the end of it, got ripped off and work was sub-par. You get what you pay for so lesson learned read more

I brought my scion tc here 2 years ago to have some audio work done. At that time I was still very new to the whole car sound system game. I was told by a few of my close friends that al & eds might be a good option since they've been open for quite some time. I paid eighty dollars to have my front door speakers installed and another forty for my rear speakers. At the time I thought it was a good deal but trust me, do your research and you'll find places that will do the front and back for just eighty. Oh yeah I still have to mention the extremely rude guy at the register. I really did try to give him the benefit of the doubt but the entire time he ignored me when I had questions and seemed more interested in his phone than anything else. Thats not even the worst part...after my friend in the auto industry checked the work they had done for me, he just shook his head. The workers at al & eds installed my speakers using just one screw on the right side and two on the other. They didn't even bother to use the bracket that comes with the box, they just made new holes in my speakers just to save time. My speakers have six spaces for screws and they felt one screw would suffice. My left speaker was barely holding on by one screw. The rear speakers were installed the same way, no bracket, only one to two screws. I ended up looking at youtube and reinstalled them my self. On another note I also bought dynamat from them which cost me an arm and a leg. Don't buy it here, amazon is sooo much cheaper. So to give advice from one novice audio junkie to the next, please do research and call around. You'll be so much happier than if you came here. And you'll save yourself from extreme buyers remorse. read more
