My friends and I came here for brunch on a Friday afternoon at 11am. The parking is a pain, as they have a limited lot in front but fortunately I found street parking that was free. We split the mimosa pitcher which came with 3 different juices - guava, OJ, and peach. It was very good! For food, I did the breakfast bowl - 2 eggs over hard with the plantains instead of fried cheese. It was so delicious! I also got a cortadito after which was so good. I'd definitely come back! There's indoor and outdoor seating, a wait for both as it's first come first serve. Cool vibes!

The vibe, service and food at this place is solid. Everything we ordered off the menu was so good! I got the breakfast tacos and beignets. The tacos were so good! The vibe is go nice too. It is very laid back, but you can tell that the staff care about their establishment. The vibe is lively and carefree.

Really loved this place for a quick lunch on the way into Charlottesville. I got the pan con lechon which featured wonderful crispy bread and juicy pork. Definitely would recommend pairing with one of their sauces - the salsa verde was a great match!!

Excellent Miami-inspired food in Charlottesville! I love it for both brunch and dinner. My favorite order is a mojito, the lechon mom's platter, and a side order of queso frito (these are my favorite!). The bread pudding is fantastic too. I like to go during happy hour and sit at the bar--I think drinks are a few dollars off. Staff is very friendly. The restaurant itself is good sized with plenty of seating. There are a handful of parking spots.

Glad we saw the reviews on Yelp and was able to stop by this yummy eatery! Seated right away outside on the patio on a beautiful fall day. Great waitress who was attentive and made sure we had everything we needed throughout our meal: Food came out fast and it was delicious. We split the pork with rice and beans and had it was the plantains. It also came with a garlic aioli which was great to dip the pork in! Will come back if in the area for more of their great food!

Always amazing. I have to get the huevos guajiros every time. Tried the pastelito with cream cheese and guava this time and it was very good.

I really love their breakfast/brunch options! The Cuban flavors are awesome in their dishes. My favorite dish is the El nacional since it has eggs, avocado, chorizo, and fried plantains. I also recently tried their chia coconut pudding with tamarind which I enjoyed! Their coffee is good too (I keep forgetting to not too much sugar though since it is Cuban coffee). Service was fast since we decided to sit at the bar (was about 20 min wait for a table for two people at around 10am on Sunday). Decor inside is tropical and has great ambiance. Highly recommend that you stop by here!

We were visiting Charlottesville for a friend's birthday weekend and stopped here for brunch. Great breakfast options with lots of flavor! I had the vegan breakfast bowl and added double eggs (only ordered the vegan bowl because I wanted patacones instead of sweet plantains) and highly recommend it as the coconut oil they cook the vegan bowl beans in makes it so tasty! My boyfriend enjoyed his breakfast burrito and the service and atmosphere were great too.

So glad they have parking in the back! Downtown Cville can be difficult in that regard. Visited on a Friday afternoon... They must've adjusted their hours because they've been on my to-try list for awhile but I could never make it before closing. Queso frito was as delicious as expected. If you've ever bought "bread cheese" and fried it up at home, same concept except they have a nice accompanying sauce. Buñuelos de Bacalao were not what I was anticipating based on the description, but rest assured, they did not disappoint. Very fresh and flavorful. The garlicky sauce was addictive. Even the garnish of greens was delicious. Chicken Maicitos are what I would order after partying too much. It's a wonderful hodgepodge of chicken, pineapple, corn, etc. with crushed potato chips on top. Also, their hibiscus tea was incredible!!! Prompt and friendly service, fantastic grub, cool vibes - can't wait to go back.

I drove down with some family to celebrate my brother's birthday. When looking for a spot to take him, this restaurant kept coming up. It was my first time having Cuban food and I was a huge fan! We had a large party so we were able to order lots of different dishes to try. Almost every single item we got was amazing! There were so many good bites but if I had to choose, get the Jamon Croquettes and the Steak Breakfast Bowl. The croquettes had a great crispy outer shell with a soft savory interior. The steak bowl had a little bit of everything so you could taste all the great ingredients. Absolutely loved the food and the atmosphere! Apps: Jamon Croquettes, Queso Frito and Buñuelos de Bacalao (Cod Fritters) Entrees: Cubano, Lechon Mom's Platter, Steak Breakfast Bowl, Huevos Guajiros and El Nacional (Cuban breakfast plate) Dessert: Beignets with Guava Sauce Drinks: Espresso Martini, Mojito and Pina Colada

    This is the real deal.

This place is the real deal. Truly authenticate. Try the Ghosted Pepper Margarita. We will be back for sure.

Best brunch in Charlottesville hands down!! The prices are so reasonable for the portions and quality of food here. To drink, I had a hibiscus tea which was delicious. As for food, we started with the whipped goat cheese and the fried cheese cubes. For my main I enjoyed the avocado toast. I thought it would be a basic order but was pleasantly surprised by the beautiful presentation and thinly sliced cucumber lining the crispy toast. I had the perfect amount of food and left here felling full but not groggy. They also have a great selection of coffee drinks including affogatos, a personal favorite of mine. The decor in here is super cool and there's a variety of seating-- indoor, outdoor, a bar, and lounge areas. It's clean and the staff are so friendly and make sure you have an excellent experience.

Anyone tried their late night drinks yet?

My croissant tasted as though it was sourced from Costco; it had been heated up, which made it marginally palatable. I asked for a large cappuccino and got a drink that tasted as though a sugary syrup had been added to it. There was a huge volume of milk, which I guess was OK, and a small amount of OK-tasting espresso. The breakfast was convenient enough that I figured I'd go back for a second round the next morning. However, when I arrived at the coffee bar on Day Two, I was told that the person who would be staffing it was "running late" and that the croissants had not yet arrived. The front desk person found it in her heart to pour me some coffee from the huge urn at the coffee bar. I was grateful for the free lobby coffee but headed outside for my official breakfast. Outside was better.

There is a good amount of seating with two large shared-space tables and smaller circular tables, and there is free wifi access. The cafe offers coffee, tea, and draft options. I've only come in for coffee and tea twice and felt that it was overpriced for what you get. They only offer their iced drinks in the large option, and it's probably because the iced drink consists of 8-10 large ice cubes that take up a majority of the space of the cup. The iced chai and hot soy latte tasted good, but were standard. The food was kind of meh - I ordered a biscuit which was barely warmed up. Overall, an okay cafe (probably not my first choice to go to), but it will give you a caffeine fix if you need it.

As usual, I'm looking for the best coffee roaster to go to, and Lone Light Coffee was on the top of my list in this area. The coffee shop is on the smaller side, but it was warm and comfortable. The baristas were nice and three of them gave me their input on which single origin I should choose for my pour-over. POUR-OVER - MKT Price +6.50 for Mohammed Aba Nura - Ethiopia (tasting notes: Strawberry, white chocolate, hazelnut) I wanted the craziest tasting option they had, and they recommended this one since it's pretty popular and well-liked among customers. However, one of the barista said he didn't really like it himself. I figured I should still try it. The sips I had while it was still warm was pretty juicy and sweet, but I really didn't like the notes once it cooled down (about 20 minutes later), which tasted sour and off-putting. I should have listened to that one barista and went with a different single origin option. Overall, good roaster -- just unfortunate that I tried something that wasn't for me. The baristas seem knowledgeable and passionate about their craft. I would love to come back next time and try another single origin offering.
